Wilson, James Foster

JEFFERSONVILLE -- James Foster Wilson, 80, passed away Friday at Green
Valley Care Center. He was a native of Milltown, KY, an Army veteran of
World War II, a retired machinist for the Matt Cochran Company in Louisville
and a member of American Legion Post #35 in Jeffersonville. He was preceded
in death by his son, James Michael Wilson. He is survived by his wife, the
former Allene McGaha; a son, David Wilson of Jeffersonville; two daughters,
Janet Gibson of Jeffersonville and Carolyn Rivera of Elizabeth, IN; nine
grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. His funeral will be held at 2
p.m. Sunday at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, IN, with burial in
Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Saturday and after 9

Strange, J.W. "Walon"

COLUMBIA -- J.W. "Walon" Strange, 85, passed away Thursday, May 20, 2004, at
his residence. He was a distinguished veteran of World War II, having served
in the 3rd Army under the command of General George Patton, where he was
awarded five battle stars. He was a retired dairy farmer of nearly 40 years
and a member of Antioch United Methodist Church in Sparksville, KY. He was
preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. and Effie Gaston Strange, and a
sister, Beatrice Keen. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Alma Dillon
Strange; three children, Judy (Glenn) Reeves of Glasgow, KY, Carolyn
Brockman of Louisville and J.D. Strange of Pineville, KY; four
grandchildren, Ron Reeves of Glasgow, Nancy Moore of Bowling Green, KY, Beth
Bentley of Chicago, IL, and James David Strange of Pineville; three
great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. His funeral will be
held at 11 a.m. Monday at Stotts- Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, with burial
in Antioch Cemetery in Sparksville. Visitation at the funeral home will
begin at 1 p.m. Sunday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that

2004, at her residence. She was a native of Adair County, KY, a wonderful
homemaker and a head cook at White Mills (KY) Christian Church Camp, from
1965-1968. She was a member of South Louisville Christian Church, where she
taught Sunday school for many years. She is survived by two daughters and
sons-in-law, Diane Worrell and her husband, Bill, and Mitzi Skaggs and her
husband, Kenneth; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike Malone and his wife, Jeff;
a sister, Dorothy Wolford; a brother, David Beard; six grand- children; and
eight great- grandchildren. Her funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at
O.D. White & Sons, with entombment in Evergreen Mausoleum. Visitation will

Blanckaert of New Albany; a son, Gary Ettel of Clarksville, IN; a sister,
Norma Jones of Jeffersonville; two grandchildren; and two

Raymond Sanders, 83, of Louisville, was born January 12, 1921, to the late
Thad and Flossie Arnold Sanders in Adair County, KY. He returned to his
Heavenly Father on Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at Norton Audubon Hospital, with
loved ones by his side. Mr. Sanders was a retired boilermaker for Henry Vogt
Machine Co., a US Army veteran of World War II and a member of Gardiner Lane
Church of Christ. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Montra
Overstreet Sanders; children, Elaine Devan and Philip and Mark Sanders; a
sister, Nadine Phillips; grandchildren, Brandy Sanders and Nathan Devan; and
a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral service for Mr. Sanders
will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral

Shepherd, D. Conway
SHEPHERD, D. CONWAY, 75, of Louisville, died Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at VA
Medical Center. He was a native of Adair County, KY, retired after 21 years
with the United States Army, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans
and a member of Clifton Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife,
Willodean McGowan Shepherd; a daughter, Patricia Cross and her spouse, Rick,
of Linton, IN; a daughter, Cynthia Taxes and her spouse, Butch, of
Louisville; a son, Sammy Shepherd of Mt. Home, ID; a nephew, who was like a
son, Eddie Bolin; a sister, Mae Carrara of New Mexico; five grandchildren,
including Sheldon Taxes, Michelle Clothier and Brent Kenworthy; and eight
great-grand-children. His funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. EDT
Thursday at Arch L. Heady-Cralle Funeral Home, 2428 Frankfort Avenue, with
Rev. Laurice Rogers officiating. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m.
CDT Thursday at Tartar Cemetery in Russell County, KY. Visitation will be
from 4-8 p.m. EDT Wednesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy are
requested to be made to the Mt. Holly Nursing Home Activities Department.
