I would appreciate any help in finding the parents of my gggrandfather,  John Alford Breeding , I located him & his family on the 1870 census and he was just above a Jesse Breeding, age 31 & his family (It is possible that Jesse could be John's brother).

This is an entry from a family bible:
John Alford Breeding
  27 Nov. 1838 - 30 Dec. 1898

Nancy Jane Reed Breeding
  5 Aug. 1839 - 26 May 1886

Mary Alice Breeding Parsons
  29 Nov. 1858 - 2 Jul. 1944

Winston Breeding
  24 Dec. 1860

Lou Sara Breeding Curry Feggette
  1862-1897

Lenora Francis Breeding  Janes
  5 Apr. 1865 - 1951

Elzora Elizabeth Breeding Harvey
  5 Apr. 1865 - 3 Jan. 1943

Unice Bertie Breeding
  1868 - 1873

Claudius Breeding
  Died in infancy

Virgie Breeding
  1875 - 1894

Jennie Breeding
  Died in infancy

Nancy Jane Reed, I believe to be Imanuel/Emanuel Reed's daughter (on the Adair Co. 1850 census, it showed an E. J. Reed which I think was wrong, should have been N.J. Reed for Nancy)
I have not any evidence of any relationship to the other Breedings here, such as Rev James Breeding.  I have not found John in someone's household when he was young as per a census.

Thank You for your time, Jim York york.jim@sbcglobal.net

I am descended from John Patterson. I have found much information on this site and feel there may be a connection to some of the other families in Adair. Including the Walker family. John was born in 1784 and may have been from Virginia. He had a large family. There are specifics about him in the "Brickwall" section, posted by Bruce Patterson (a cousin). I am hoping that someone might make a connection. Any help will be appreciated, Christiane Howard Sicambrian@aol.com

I'm researching the family of Samuel Addison Moore born in Gradyville, Adiar, Ky in 1894. Sam Moore's family left Gradyville for Waco Tx somewhere around the turn of th century (1900). Sam Moore was my grandfather on my mothers side. He married Nora Myrtle Brown on the 2nd of Sept 1917 and had 5 children who survived to adulthood. One died in a fire as an infant. Sam Moore died in Waco Tx on 22 Aug 1987.

I'd like to know something about his history and if there is a family line still in Adair. How long was the Moore family in Kentucky, where did they come from. I understand that the family is Scots-Irish. Thanks, Melvin Laskin mjlaskin@bezeqint.net

My GG grandparents were Simeon F. and Lavina (Coffey) Coombs.  They were married in 1823 in Adair County, KY at the home of Lavina's father Joel Coffey.  My dilemma is there are so many Joel Coffey's I can't be certain which Joel he was.  A hint is Lavina was born about 1805.  Are there any shortcuts to pinpointing which Joel Coffey was living in Adair County in 1823? My Brick wall is my great great great great grandfather JOHN OGLE and his wife SARAH DENNIS.  Family tradition states that he died in Adair or Green County , Kentucky around 1808.  He was born in 1753 in DE or VA, married SARAH DENNIS in January 18, 1773 in Rowan County, NC, fought in the Revolutionary War, then lived in Edgefield District, SC until 1804, bought land in Grainger County, Tennessee in 1804 and sold it in 1808.  At that point, the paper trail runs out and I only have stories, which are inconsistent.  Looking for a will, probate information, burial information – frankly anything associated with this family.  Thank you, Karen karengideon@hotmail.com

CHILDREN of John and Sarah Ogle are:

John Ogle b 1774 m. Sarah Walker, Mary Tilford and Mahala Alexander
