Geo. Tol. Smith, of this county, was a witness at the Federal Court in Frankfort last week. After he had been discharged and received his pay, he purchased a couple of quarts of mean liquor, returned to the basement of the custom-house and was peddling it cut at 5 and 10 cents a swallow, according to the size of the swallow. He was caught, brought before the court, indicted,  tried and given three months a $100. Within forty minutes of the time of the arrest he was convicted, the quickest proceedings now on record.
