Adair Native Killed in Central City

Was a Native of Adair.

John Harmon, the town marshal, who was shot and killed in a street fight at Central City [Muhlenberg Co.] ten days ago, was born and reared in this county. He was a son-in-law of Mr. Matthew Burton. He left the county about eighteen years ago, but was here for a short time six years ago. Before leaving Adair he trafficed in whisky and was frequently in court. At one time while being conveyed from the court-house to the jail, he broke loose from his guard, made his way Russell's creek, which was out of banks, plunged in and made his escape and was never recaptured.
