Page Family Wills

The following, although written in Albemarle VA is on file in the courthouse at Adair County Kentucky because the latter is where the author of the will (Robert Page Sr.) died.

Will of Robert Page, Sr.

I Robert Page Sen.r of the County of Albemarle do make this my last will & testament in following manner & form to wit.

1st Item I give my son William Page one negroe man by the name of Peter

2nd Item I give unto my son Robert Page Jr. one negroe man by the name of Wilson

3rd Item I give unto my son George Washington Page one negroe man by the name of John

4th Item I give unto my son Nicholas Page one negroe man by the name of Harry

5th Item I give unto my son Samuel Page one negroe girl by the name of (indecipherable but could be "star") & a boy by the name of Tancy

6th Item I give unto my son James Page one negroe boy by the name of Anderson

7th Item I lend unto my Daughter Betsy Davies one negroe girl by the name of Tamer During her natural life & at her decease the said Tamer together will all her increase if any to be equally divided between the surviving chldren of my said daughter

8th Item I give unto my Daughter Jenny Griffin one negroe girl by the name of Rose

9th Item I give unto my Daughter Polly Griffin one yallow negroe girl by the name of Hankey

10th My son James Page & my Daughter Polly Griffin Each to be furnished with a horse from my Estate valued at twenty five pounds my son James to have a young mare from my Daughter Polly Griffin. Paul Pilgrim Bay foaled 1804 has had her beast Paul Pilgrim which I valued to 25 pounds in the year (indecipherable but could be 1810)

11th Item I lend unto my wife Mary Page all the rest of my negroes together with all my personal estate & lands during her natural life to be held by her in plausible possession and at her decease my lands to be sold and equally divided between my sons William Page Robert Page George Washington Page Nicholas Page Samuel Page and James Page and the whole of the personal Estate that may remain to be Equally divided between my sons aforementioned & my three daughters Betsy Davies Jenny Griffin & Polly Griffin. that part falling to my daughter Betsy Davis be a lone (loan?) during her life & at her death to descend to her children in the same manner as directed in the foregoing legasy by and for her use

12th Lastly I do constitute and appoint my sons William Page Robert Page George W Page & Nicholas Page my Exrs and I hereby revoak all former wills by me made at any time heretofore. Ratifying and confirming this to be my last will and testament, in witness of and whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my seal this twenty ninth day of September 1803

Will of Robert Page

From Adair County Kentucky Courthouse Records:

I Robert Page of the county of Adair and State of Kentucky being advanced in age and in bad health now make this my last will and testament hereby revoking all others heretofore made by me.

In manner and form following (Towit) 1st It is my will that all the charges that I have made against my children of money or property or may make during my life time shall stand just as I have charged them on my memorandum book and said charges are not to be altered or (indecipherable) for from or by one of my children to another. I have made charges against my sons Samuel Page, Miles C. Page and Shelton Page also against my daughters Polly Ann Watson, Jane Blakeman, Elizabeth Doherty, and America Humphreys upon my said memorandum book and it is my express will that charges already made against my said children together with any other charge or charges that I may make against them during my lifetime shall remain unaltered and that no interest shall be charged against them on any of my advancements heretofore made or that I may hereafter make. 2nd I hereby give and bequeath to three of my grand children of my daughter Polly Ann Watson late Polly Ann Humphreys (Towit) Nancy Jane Humphreys, James Humphreys and Mary Jenah Humphreys four hundred and eighty dollars to be equally divided between them by my Executor Executors or Administrator when said children shall arrive at the age of twenty one years but should either or any of said children die before they arrive at the said age of twenty one years then their share or shares to be paid to the surviving one or ones of said children. 3rd I give and bequeath to my two daughters six hundred dollars to be equally divided between them (towit) Polly Ann Watson and Elizabeth Doherty to be paid to them by my Executors or administrator after my death out of my estate 4th I give and bequeath to my son Samuel Page one hundred dollars to be paid to him by my said Executor Executors or administrator out of my estate 5th All the residue of my estate both real and personal of every kind whatever I hereby give and bequeath to my four children (towit) Miles C. Page , Shelton Page, Jane Blakeman and America Humphreys to be equally divided between them and I further direct that all the property devised under the fifth clause of this my will shall be sold by my Executor Executors or administrator and the proceeds equally divided between the four children named in the said fifth clause of this my will 6th I desire that my three sons Samuel Page, Miles C. Page and Shelton Page shall have equally divided among them all my wearing apparrel 7th Lastly I appoint my sons Miles C. Page and George R. Page my executors of this my last will and testament witness my hand and seal March 3rd 1854
