Collins to Wheat:

 Adair County KY Deed Book G, pp. 455-456

 

This indenture made this 6th day of July one thousand eight hundred and 30 - Between Zachariah Collins of the county of Adair and State of Kentucky of the one part and Samuel Wheat of the county of the foresaid and the State of Kentucky of the other part Witnesseth that the said Zachariah Collins have for and in consideration of the sum of fifty eight dollars to him in hand paid the rec'd where of he doth hereby acknowledge hath bargained sold and delivered and by these presents doth bargain sell deliver and confirm unto the said Samuel Wheat his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land lying in the aforesaid county of Adair on the Cabin Fork, a branch of Russells Creek and bounded as follows[:] To wit, Beginning at a mulberry and 2 red oaks on Stapp's military line on the branch thence with the branch one hundred and seventy two poles to a sugar tree ash & walnut thence N 253/4 [degrees] E 58 poles two dogwoods, thence S 50[degrees] 190 poles to a gum and hickory in Stapp's line thence S 38[degrees] W 36 poles to the Beginning containing fifty three acres ore or less, it being part of a 173 acre survey in the name of Zachariah Collins together with all and every of the appurtenances thereunto belonging To have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of land with all its appurtenances and to [page 456] the sole use and behoof of him the said Samuel wheat his heirs and assigns forever the said Zachariah Collins for himself and his heirs doth covenant with the said Samuel Wheat and his heirs that aforesaid tract or parcel of land with all its appurtenances unto the said Samuel Wheat his heirs and assigns forever against all claims or demands of all persons whatever will warrant and forever defend in witness whereof  the said Zachariah Collins hath hereunto set his hand and Seal the day and year first above written signed and in the presence of

I William Caldwell Clerk of the county court for the county aforesaid do certify that on this day this deed from Zachariah Collins and his wife Edna to Samuel Wheat was produced to me in my office by the said grantors and acknowledged by the said Zachariah Collins to be his act and deed and the said Edna being examined by me privily and apart from her said husband declared that she did freely and willingly seal and deliver the said writing and wishes not to retract it and acknowledged the said writing again shown and explained to her to be her act and deed and consenteth that the same may be recorded  whereupon the said Deed together with the foregoing certificate hath been duly admitted to record in my office Given under my hand this 21st day of July 1830.

Coffey to Collins:

This indenture made and entered into this first day May 1886 between Mary A. Coffey of the County of Russell and State of Kentucky of the first part and George Collins of the County of Adair and State aforesaid of the second part witnesseth that the parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of Twenty five dollars in hand paid the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged has this day bargained sold and conveyed unto the party of the second part all the undivided interest right and title to by decent [sic] as the heir at law of Samuel Wheat deceased in and to the land on which he died The same lying on the waters of Cabin fork of Russells Creek The greater part thereof in Adair County Kentucky and the remainder in Russell County to have and to hold the said undivided interest owned by the party of the first part with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging to the said second party his heirs and assigns forever and the party of the first part hereby covenant to and with the said Second party to forever defend the interest herein conveyed to the said Collins and his heirs forever against any and all claims whatever In testimony whereof the said first party has hereunto set her hand and seal the day and date first above written.                                                 /s/ Mary A. This indenture made and entered into this 22nd day of November 1886 between Granville K. Wheat and Sarah E. Wheat his wife of the State of Missouri Gentry County; Henry Smith & Martha E.E. Smith his wife, John B. Wheat & Frances Elizabeth Wheat his wife, all of the County of Russell and State of KY; & Cyrus Wheat & Ellen B. Wheat his wife of the County of Adair and State of Kentucky; V.C. Wheat and E.L. Wheat, D.H. Wheat & N.M. Wheat, and S.M. Wheat  N.B. Wheat all of Bell County  Texas of the first part and George W. Collins of County of Adair State of Kentucky of the Second part, Witnesseth: that the parties of the first part have this day given, granted, bargained, Sell and convey unto the said George W. Collins for and consideration of the sum of one hundred and seventy five dollars paid by the said Collins all the undivided interest right, and title which the parties of the first part were entitled to by decent [sic] as the heirs at law of Samuel Wheat decesed [sic] in and to the lands he died Seised [sic] and possessed lying on the waters of the Cabbin fork of Russells creek and the greater part thereof in the county of Adair  State of Ky, the remainder in Russell County, to have and to hold the said undivided interest owned by the parties of the first part with all its appurtnances to the said Collins his heirs and assigns forever and the parties of hte first part hereby covenant to and with the said Collins that they will forever warrant and defend the interest therein conveyed against any and all claims whatever in testimony whereof the parties of the first part have severly [sic] set their hands and seals the day and year first above written.

[Not mentioned in these 1886-dated documents are Samuel and Anna Wheat's children Rice A., who died c. July 1862 without issue; Matilda, who apparently never married and died between 1880 and 1886; and Lindsey B., who died in Russell Co. in1878 and left two children, the above mentioned John B. Wheat and William D. Wheat.
