Our family lived at Bon in the 1920’s and for years I attended Bon School. I went to high school in Williamsburg and graduated in 1935. Then I got married; we eloped. My mother and sister Gladys got in a car and tried to catch us, but they didn’t.

    My sister Martha and I played on the girls’ basketball team. The other girls were Ella Kirklin, Dora Lovitt, Margaret Robinson, and Nancy Brown. We made a good team. Marth and I played forward. I shot more goals than she did but she got as much credit because they couldn’t tell us apart.
