Silas Rutherford was born in 1903 on Beck’s Creek and went to school at Bon. He and his mother lived at Bon Jellico until he married Nell Moses and the three of them lived together until Silas’s mother died. They moved to Insul in Bell County and then to High Splint, Kentucky where he was a motorman. They had four boys. After he retired, Silas and Nell moved to Corbin where he died in 1978.
