Index of Names and Places

Submitted by Crystal Dingler

·   Indexing Deed Book B is complete. I am listing the home counties or states of the Buyer and Seller when listed in the documents. If, however, the home county is Bourbon, I am not listing it.  I am also including all of the names of witnesses, place names, creeks and rivers, except I am not including exact dimensions (i.e., 190 poles to a marker stone, etc.) or descriptives of landmarks (i.e., 3 birch trees, meanders of an unnamed creek, etc.).

·    If you find errors or omissions, please email me. I've done my best, but some spellings don't ever make sense to me.Thanks.

·   Trustees of the Town of Paris, Bourbon County:

Oct 1791:  Charles Smith, Jun'r, John Edwards, James Garrard, Thomas West, James Lanier, James Littell, and James Duncan
Oct 1792:  Notty Conn had replaced James Garrard, otherwise the Trustees are the same

·   Copies of Deeds are available on microfilm through the KY Library and Archives, or on microfilm # 183106 from the LDS Library. Those lucky enough to be living within shouting distance of the Bourbon Co. Courthouse, may look at the big deed books there. The Cynthianna-Harrison County, KY Public Library also has lots of microfilm: http://www.harrisoncountyky.us/chcpl-kentucky-room-microfilm-5.htm.

·   Byrd's Landing and Byrd's Crossing referred to in some deeds refers to the 1780 force of British soldiers and indians led by Capt. Byrd. They subsequently captured Ruddle's and Martin's Stations, killing some and marching many into captivity in Canada.
