R. D. Stamper, age 58, of Long’s Creek passed away Saturday, May 31, 2003 at the Kentucky River Medical Center. He was an auto mechanic. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Hazel Deaton Stamper; one brother, Leonard Stamper, Jr.; and one granddaughter, Tiffany Ann Stamper. Survivors include two sons: Rodney and wife Jennifer Stamper, and Leonard and wife Mima Stamper, all of Long’s Creek; three brothers: Fred Stamper of Austin, Indiana; Lonnie Stamper of Jesse Branch and Wayne Stamper of Beattyville; six sisters: Gertrude Cole, Lena Mae Stamper and Barbara Stamper, all of Long’s Creek; Leoma Turner of Jackson, Brenda Sue Wilson of Richmond and Martha Courtney of Erlanger; two grandchildren: Jesse Stamper and Leonard Stamper, Jr., both of Long’s Creek. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 3 at the Breathitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Jesse Turner officiating. Burial followed at the Harlan and Ollie Stamper Cemetery at Morris Fork.
