   "RUBY L. MORRIS, 54

"Ruby Loisene Morris of Windsor died Friday, August 12, 1994 in Lexington. She was 54 years old.

"Born in Casey County on April 14, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Avery Elvis McDonald and Ora Weir McDonald, who survives in Windsor.

"She was a licensed practical nurse and a member of Pinetop Church of Christ. She was the widow of Jerry Franklin Morris.

"Besides her mother, survivors include two sons, Frank Morris of Middletown, Ohio and Jeffrey Morris of Windsor; three daughters, Sherry Morris and Terry Morris, both of Lexington, and Laurie Riggs of Dayton, Ky.; four brothers, James, Bill and David McDonald, all of Russell Springs, and Dennis McDonald of Windsor; five sisters, Roxie McDonald, Fayrene Thomas and Ann Chrusciel, all of Windsor, Imo Gene Callagham of Owenton and Sandra Kieser of Upper Darby, Pa.; and three grandchildren, Timothy Spirey-Barker, Adam Riggs and Samantha Riggs.

"Funeral services were August 15 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Ralph Fox officiating. Burial was in Wilkerson Cemetery.

"Pallbearers were her nephews."

   "FRED MURPHY, 64

"Fred Murphy of the Princetown community died Monday, Jan. 20, 1986 at the Casey County War Memorial Hospital. He was 64 years old.

"Born in Casey County on Sept. 3, 1921, he was the son of Lucy Allen Murphy of Liberty and the late G.W. Murphy. He was owner and operator of Murphy Construction Co. and a veteran of World War II. He was also a member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

"Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Beth DeRossett Murphy; a son, Glen Wayne Murphy of Hawaii; a daughter, Maria Jo Wilson of Liberty; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; four brothers, Sherwood, Sherman, Edwin and Claude Murphy, all of Liberty; four sisters, Myrtle Harmon of Danville, Irene Lay of Dunnville, Helena McDonald of Liberty and Mattie Decker of Tazewell, Tenn.

"A son, Freddie Murphy, preceded him in death.

"The funeral will be today (Jan. 22) at 2 p.m. at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Donnie Coffey and Bro. Danny Bailey officiating. Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery."

  "GEORGE D. MURPHY

"George Denver Murphy, Star Route, Liberty (U.S. 127 South), died Friday Oct. 14, 1994 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. He was 55 years old.

"Born in Casey County on Feb. 2, 1939, he was a son of Sherwood and Cloma Elliott Murphy of Liberty.

"He was employed at Phillips Lighting Co. in Danville and a member of Walnut Hill Separate Baptist Church.

"Besides his parents, survivors include his wife, Regina Hammond Murphy; a son, Jody Ray Murphy of Liberty; a daughter, Rita Kay Dunham of Waynesburg; a grandmother, Lucy Murphy of Liberty; a brother, Jerry Murphy of Liberty; and four grandchildren.

"He was preceded in death by a sister, Reva Dean Murphy.

"Funeral services were Oct. 17 at McKinney-Brown Funeral home with Bro. Joey Murphy and Bro. Clifton Cowan officiating. Burial was in Murphy Cemetery.

"Pallbearers were Tim Phillips, Norman Russell, Gene Robinson, Mike Meece, Kenny Russell and Mike Delk.

"Honorary pallbearers were Allen Gadberry, Jim Davis, Brian Davis, Mark Murphy, Cecil Hatter and Verl Clements."

"GEORGE WESLEY MURPHY DIES OF HEART ATTACK

"George Wesley "Doc" Murphy, 64, died of a heart attack at his home on April 7. He had been in good health and had been working with one of his sons the day of his attack. He made his home near Pricetown.

"He was born March 8, 1890.

"On July 9, 1913, he was married to Lucy Allen. They became the parents of eleven children, nine of whom survive. Kenneth died on the Korean battle front in 1950, and another son died in infancy.

"Besides Mrs. Murphy these are the survivors. Four daughters, Myrtle Harmon, Mattie Decker, Irene Lay and Helena McDonald. Five sons, Sherwood, Sherman, Fred, Edwin, and Claud. Two sisters, Ann Russell and Lillie Price of Pricetown; and two brothers, William of Cincinnati and Arthur of Teddy.

"Mr. Murphy was well known over the county as a sawmill man having been in the business for many years. His work and interest with heavy equipment extended over into the activities of his sons who operate earth-moving machinery.

"The Murphy home was headquarters for not only his immediate offspring and their families, but people in general. It was an interesting home with plenty of activity.

"Funeral services were conducted by Rev. L.C. Young at the Walnut Hill Baptist Church April 8. Gosser-Smith Funeral Home was in charge. Interment was at the Murphy family cemetery near Contown."

  "KATHRYN NEAT, 61

"Kathryn Evelyn Neat of Dunnville died Monday, July 2, 1984 at her home. He was 61 years old.

"She was born in Casey County, the daughter of H.J. Thomas and Alice McDonald Thomas. Her husband of 43 years, Wilber Neat, preceded her in death.

"Survivors include a son, Gregory Neat of Liberty; a daughter, Alice Wilson of Liberty; three brothers, Therlow, C.J. and Ralph Thomas; five sisters, Margie LaFavers, Agnes White, Blanche Thomas, Elizabeth Terry and Opal McKeen; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

"The funeral was July 5 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. John Jones officiating. Burial was in the Antioch Cemetery.

"Serving as pallbearers were Howard Tartar, Junior Davis, Donald Tartar, David Tartar, Steve Meece, Steve Fox, R.C. Carson and Homer Terry."

 "WILBUR HAZE NEAT, 63

"Wilbur Haze Neat, Dunnville, died May 21, 1982 at his home. He was 63 years old.

"Mr. Neat was born in Adair County on May 12, 1919 to R.B. Neat and Viola Cundiff, both deceased. He was married to Evelyn Thomas, who survives. He was a retired gate hauler and deacon and trustee of the Dunnville Christian Church.

"Surviving besides his wife are: one son, Gregory Neat, Liberty; one daughter, Alice Wilson, Liberty; four brothers, Bruce of Cincinnati, James of Louisville, and Rollin and Charlie Neat, both of Dunnville; four sisters, Bessie Romanello and Flora Ewing, both of Cincinnati, Irene Branson of Shelbyville, and Kate Datillo of Indiana; and four grandchildren.

"Funeral services were May 23 at the McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. John Jones officiating. Burial was in the Antioch Cemetery."

 "RASTUS OVERSTREET RITES HELD SUNDAY AT SALEM

"Funeral services for Erastus Overstreet were held Sunday morning at the Salem Methodist Church with the Rev. Wilmer Ellis officiating.

"Death came on Friday morning near his home of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He tried to borrow a gun from Billy Patton, who saw that he was in a bad mental condition. He then went to the home of Wesley Lee saying he wanted to shoot a mad-dog. Shortly after he had borrowed the gun here he inflicted his fatal wound.

"He was born on May 29, 1924, the son of John Frank and Matra Rich Overstreet in this county.

"He was married to Ruby Byrd on May 11, 1944, who survives, and they became the parents of seven children, six of whom survive.

"The children are Jimmie, Jerry, Joseph, Nina, Judy and Patsy.

"Both his parents survive; five brothers, Paul of Liberty; Otis of Dunnville; James and Herman of Dayton, Ohio; and Mose of Liberty; four sisters, Mrs. Wilbert Evans, Ft. Bragg, N.C.; Mrs. Clem Michalek, Dayton, Ohio; Mrs. Lowell Cochran, Liberty, and Josephine Overstreet, Liberty.

"He served in World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star, Good Conduct, and Distinguished Unit Badge. He served from June 11, 1943 until March 13, 1946. The Casey County Funeral Squad gave military honors.

"Gosser-McKinney Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements."

 "RUBY MAY OVERSTREET RITES ON WEDNESDAY

"Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby May Overstreet, 40, were held Wednesday morning at the Salem Methodist Church, Rev. James Johnson and Wilmer Ellis officiated.

"Death came at her home in Russell County where she and her family had been living since moving from Red Hill about two years ago. She suffered from cancer.

"She was born at Dunnville on July 17, 1924, the daughter of Marion and Myrtie McDonald Byrd. Both survive.

"She was married to Erastus Overstreet on May 11, 1946. He died about five years ago.

"She was the mother of Jimmy Ray Overstreet, Mrs. Nina Faye Cundiff Dunn, Judy Gay, Jerry Philip, Patsy Ann, Joseph Timothy, and Jackie Dale Overstreet.

"Her brothers and sister are: Bessie Mae Lampton, West Hollywood, Fla.; Mrs. Lucy Brown, Liberty; Otha Byrd, Russell Springs; Mrs. Sarah Deel, Louisville; Mrs. Ruth Regensburger, Ohio; Mrs. Betty Willis, Mrs. Anna Flener, and Sharlene Byrd, all Louisville; Mrs. Shirley Mills, Russell County; Mrs. Arlie Cundiff, Lexington; and Mrs. Mary Stephens, Russell County.

"There is one grandchild.

   "CHARLIE W. OWENS

"Charlie W. Owens, 79-year-old Ringgold farmer, died Sunday at his home following an extended illness.

"A native of Casey County, Mr. Owens was born Nov. 10, 1874, the son of the late William and Rachel McDonald Owens. He had made his home in this county for the past 60 years.

"Mr. Owens married Sarah Cassada June 27, 1896 and 10 children were born to this union. He was a member of the Christian Church for many years.

"Mr. Owens is survived by his wife; eight daughters, Mrs. Della Dunning, Mrs. Jessie Waddle, Mrs. Bertha Roy, Mrs. Opal Curnayn and Mrs. Betty Feuchter, all of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mrs. Virginia Haney, Nancy, Mrs. Eva Hill, Somerset, and Mrs. Rae Hartwig, Japan; two sons, Arthur Owens, Cincinnati, and Lennie Owens, Ringgold.

"He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Lyda Stringer, Somerset; three brothers, W.C. Owens, Florida, Clyde Owens, Pleasant Hill and Arvel Owens, Newport, Ky.

"Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Ringgold Methodist Church, the Rev. L.D. Fisher officiating. Burial was in the Somerset Cemetery."

  "EVA CATHRIN PORTER, 44

"Eva Cathrin Porter, 44, died Sept. 24, 1978, at Bethesda, Ohio. She had been in the hospital for one week.

"She was born June 4, 1934, the daughter of Frank Bowmer, deceased and Sarah Shaw Bowmer.

"She was employed by the General Diaper Service in Ohio for 5 years.

"She is survived by one daughter, Betty Jo Crupper and one son, Joseph Herschel Porter III, Cincinnati, one grandson, Robbie Crupper; one brother, Clyde Bowmer, Liberty and five sisters, Ethel Baxter, Glatha Bowmer, both of Liberty; Avis Kireta, Forrest Park, Ruby Hammond, Westerchester, Marcie Roy, Springdale.

"Funeral was held at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home on Tuesday at 2 p.m., performed by Rev. Woodrow Damron. Burial was at Antioch."

  "ERSIE RIGGINS, 80

"Ersie Riggins of Windsor died Sunday, April 16, 1995 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset. She was 80 years old.

"Born in Russell County on Dec. 13, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Lilburn and Voda McFarland Thomas.

"She was a homemaker and a member of Cedar Springs United Baptist Church. She was the widow of Avery Riggins.

"Survivors include two sons, Donovan Riggins of West Chester, Ohio and Jerry Riggins of Windsor; two daughters, Dixie Davis of Russell Springs and Pansy Malone of Jamestown; a brother, Noble Thomas of Somerset; a sister, Mayme Garreau of Merced, Calif.; a half-brother, Othello Thomas of Windsor; a half-sister, Louise Forman of Somerset, 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

"Funeral services will be today (April 19) at 2 p.m. EDT at Bernard Funeral Home in Russell Springs with the Rev. David Harmon officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Springs Cemetery."

 "LEE RIGGINS DIES

 "Lee Riggins, 83, died of a heart attack at his farm on South Fork Creek on May 3.

"He was one of the county's best and hardest working farmers and respected by everyone.

"He was born on September 23, 1888, at Evona, the son of Montgomery and Fannie Davenport Riggins. Both families were in the county in the early pioneer days.

"He was married to Effie Florence Baldock on April 17, 1912. She survives.

"He was the father of Chester Riggins, Dunnville; and former Sheriff James Riggins, Evona. There are four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

"Funeral services were held at the South Fork Baptist Church on Sunday afternoon with the Rev. Roger Popplewell and Vernon Blakely officiating. Burial was at the South Fork cemetery.

"McKinney-Burton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements."

 "CAPITOLA WHEELER ROBERTS, 73

"Capitola Wheeler Roberts, of Manchester, Ky., died Tuesday Dec. 19, 1989 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. She was 73 years old.

"She was born Dec. 24, 1915, the daughter of Thomas F. and Sadie B. Wheeler.

"She was a retired teacher with 39 years of service in education and a member of the Eastern Star and D.A.R.

"Survivors include a son, Glenn P. Roberts of China, Calif., a grandson, two sisters, Josephine Morgan of Liberty and Hazel Gooch of Danville, and a brother, Cecil M. Wheeler of Naples, Fla.

"Funeral services were held at Manchester with burial in the Hustonville Cemetery."

  "CYRUS H. ROBERTS, 94

"Cyrus H. Roberts, Route 6, Liberty, died Sunday, August 21, 1988 in Veteran's Administration Hospital in Indianapolis. He was 94 years old.

"He was a retired farmer and a World War I veteran. He was the widower of Laura Wilkerson Roberts.

"Survivors include three sons, William J. Roberts of Indianapolis, C.H. Roberts Jr. of Fort Worth, Texas, and James C. Roberts of Spencer, Ind.; five daughters, Mae Brown of Hustonville, Dorothy Smith of Elizabethtown, Edna Campbell and Evona Fair, both of Indianapolis and Lavon Murphy of Liberty; 40 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

"Preceding him in death were a son, Howard N. Roberts; and two daughters, Linda Johnson and Debitha Roberts.

"Funeral services were August 24 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. James M. Lynn and Danny Bailey officiating. Burial was in the Poplar Grove Cemetery."

  "HOWARD NEWTON ROBERTS, 67

"Howard Newton Roberts, Rt. 2 Hustonville, died Oct. 7, 1981 at the Casey County Hospital. He was 67 years old.

"Mr. Roberts was born on Jan. 2, 1914 in Lincoln County to Cyrus Roberts and the late Susan Mullins Roberts. He was married to Vivian Cochran Roberts, who survives.

"Other survivors include four sons, John Roberts of Mason, Ohio, Bill Roberts and Ronnie Roberts, both of Liberty, and Clifford Roberts of Indianapolis; five daughters, Ruth Martin and Phyllis Porter, both of Liberty, Elma White, Louisville, Susan Lawhorn and Carolyn Rainey, both of Junction City, Ky.; three brothers, Bill Roberts and C.H. Roberts Jr., both of Indianapolis, and Jimmy Roberts of Gosport, Ind.; five sisters, May Brown and Lavon Murphy, both of Liberty, Dorothy Smith, Elizabethtown, Edna Campbell, Indianapolis, and Evona Fair, Danville, Ind.; 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

"Funeral services were held at the Poplar Grove Baptist Church on Oct. 9, 1981 at 2 p.m. Rev. Jimmy Brown and James M. Lynn officiated at the service.

"Burial was in the Poplar Grove Cemetery.

"McKinney-Brown Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements."

   "JAMES NEWTON ROBERTS FUNERAL AT HUSTONVILLE

"James Newton Roberts, 75, of Liberty, Route 4, died Monday Dec. 12 at Ephraim McDowell Hospital following a stroke suffered Sunday. He was a retired farmer and a member of Hustonville Christian Church.

"Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Bertha Tomes Roberts; a son, Vertrice Roberts, Liberty; a daughter, Mrs. Irene Terrell Crim, Louisville; two brothers, Walter and Cyrus Roberts, Hustonville; two sisters, Mrs. Essie Kirby, Hustonville, and Mrs. Flora Elmore, Hilton; and two grandchildren, James Robert and Ronald Lee Terrell.

"Funeral services were held on Wednesday of last week at 2:00 p.m. at the Hustonville Christian Church by the Rev. Paul Livesay. Burial was in Hustonville Cemetery. W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home of Moreland was in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers were Cleo Tomes, Jack Pemberton, Ethridge Elmore, Perk, Hershel and Junior Roberts."

   "MRS. MARTHA ROBERTS DIES LEAVES HOST OF OFFSPRING

"Mrs. Martha George Roberts, 94, died Oct. 20 (sic) after an illness of four and a half years, in the home of her son, Walter Roberts.

"The funeral was held at the Moreland Funeral Home with the Rev. Hobert Lynn officiating. Interment was in the Hustonville Cemetery with W.L. Pruitt in charge of arrangements.

"Mrs. Roberts, daughter of Emory and Frances McDonald, was born and reared in Casey County. She leaves six children, Walter, C.H., and Mrs. Lonzo Spaulding of Hustonville, J.N. Roberts of Liberty, Mrs. Flora Elmore of Gilpin, and Mrs. Mack Kirby of Cincinnati; 33 grandchildren, 72 great grandchildren and several great grandchildren; one brother, Seth McDonald of Gilpin.

"The pallbearers were Peck Roberts, Junior Roberts, Jasper Roberts, Herman Fair, and M.G. Murphy."

  "THOMAS WALTER ROBERTS BURIED AT HUSTONVILLE

"Thomas Walter Roberts, 79, of Hustonville, Route 2, died Nov. 22, 1966 at the Ephraim McDowell Hospital after a long illness. He was a native of Casey County, and a retired farmer.

"Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Maggie Jane Roberts; seven daughters, Miss Myrtle Roberts and Mrs. Granison Pemberton, Hustonville, Route 2; Mrs. Icie Lee Vaught, Moreland; Mrs. Earl Martin, Harrodsburg; Mrs. Ernest Steilberg, Louisville, and Mrs. Charles Stroup and Mrs. Lawrence Stroup, Rockport; three sons, Alfred and Perk Roberts, Hustonville, Route 2, and Herschell Roberts, Hustonville; two sisters, Mrs. Flora Elmore, Gilpin, and Mrs. Essie Kirby, Hustonville; a brother, Cyrus Roberts, Hustonville; 27 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

"Services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home, Moreland. Burial was in the Hustonville Cemetery, Bearers were Eugene and Gus Hafley, Vertrice Roberts, Bill Leathers, Donald Spaulding and Bob Routt."

  "CHARLES HARDIN RUSSELL, 80

"Charles Hardin Russell died at the Lake Cumberland Medical Center on Dec. 14, 1981. He was 80 years old.

"Mr. Russell was born in Casey County on Feb. 23, 1901 to John H. and Laura Thomas Russell, both deceased. He was married to Hester Meeks Russell on Aug. 26, 1921, who survives.

"Other survivors include: two sons, Rollin Russell, Hamilton, Ohio, and Raymond Russell, Liberty; four daughters, Rethel Fights, Fairfield, Ohio, Rudene Kolb, Oxford, Ohio, Betsy Conatser, Fern Creek, Ky., and Sharlene Nowak, Decatur, Alabama; two sisters, Flora Luttrell, Dunnville, and Alice Tarter, Liberty; stepmother, Beatrice Thomas; three half-sisters, Beulah Morgan, Florida, Imogene Austin, Liberty, and Mildred Foster, Bethelridge; two half-brothers, Jackie and Billy Russell, both of Ohio; one step-sister, Joann Joines, Creston; 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

"One son and two grandchildren preceded in death.

"A Masonic service was held Wednesday evening Dec. 16, 1981, by the Casey Lodge No. 424.

"Funeral services were held at the McKinney-Brown Funeral Home on Thursday, Dec. 17, 1981, at 2:30 p.m. Bro. Paul Patton and Bro. Woodrow Damron officiated.

"Burial was at the Antioch Cemetery."
