The land was originally deeded to Robert Allen about 1737 by JostHite, founder of the earliest Shenandoh Valley settlement.Daniel Boone's relatives were pioneers near where Benjamin Allenhomesteaded in Kentucky. Likewise, Abraham Lincoln's grandfather was apioneer in the same region of Kentucky.
