Henry County Cemeteries

Located in Henry County on the old Thomas V. Bruce property. This old Family cemetery is located on the Drennon Springs Road, a couple of miles northeast of New Castle. This property is now owned by the Steele Family. The cemetery is located within sight of the large, red brick house in which Steele family resides, within a clump of trees. There are no tombstones remaining. The many creekstones scattered about the area are, I believe, the remains of the stone wall that once surrounded the burial sight... Charles O. Bruce

The Reverend Thomas Vandever Bruce, son of William Bruce and Sarah Vandever Bruce, was born July 30, 1802, and died April 27, 1876.

Elizabeth Owens Bruce, wife of Thomas V. Bruce, was born June 29, 1807, and died August 4, 1865.

William Henry Bruce, son of Thomas V. Bruce and Elizabeth his wife, was born February 20, 1826, and died September 8, 1851.

John Owens Bruce, son of Thomas V. Bruce and Elizabeth his wife, was born February 28, 1828, and died May 14, 1890.

(Georgia Bruce, wife of the above William Henry Bruce, is also probably buried in the cemetery, although I have no dates for her. )

The following are also likely to be buried there:

William Bruce, son of Elijah Bruce and Letititia Dowling Bruce, was born January 1, 1771, and died July 4, 1862.

Sarah Vandever Bruce, his wife, was born January 1, 1777, and died December 26, 1862.
