Forest Carr

 

          Forest Carr, 78, of New Castle, died Tuesday, January 1, 2002 at Tri-County Hospital, LaGrange.  He was the son of the late Elza N. and Stella Wainscott Carr, a U. S. Army Veteran of WWII, a retired farmer and a school bus driver, a member of the Campbellsburg Christian Church and a life-time member of the Harley Davidson Owners Group.

            He is survived by his wife: Mildred Baugh Carr, New Castle; and one daughter: Mary Faye Carr, Louisville.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 3rd at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Carl Rucker, Pastor of the Port Royal Baptist Church, officiated, assisted by Dr. V. David Cooper, Pastor of the Campbellsburg Christian Church.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Elizabeth Brown Carson

 

          Elizabeth brown Carson, 74, of Eminence, died Saturday, November 23, 2002 at Homestead Nursing Center, New Castle.  She was the daughter of the late Jack and Delilah Horsley Brown, a native of Morgan County, a former employee at Chat-n-Nibble Restaurant for nineteen years and an employee of Homestead Nursing Center for fourteen years.

            She is survived by her daughter: Alice (Estill) “Katie” Devore, Smithfield; two sons: Nealen Carson and Alan Carson, Sr., both of Eminence; one sister: Hettie Perry, Morehead; four grandchildren: Sarah Clark, Campbellsburg, Lodema Barnes, Shelbyville, Delilah Devore, Smithfield and Alan Carson, Jr., Eminence; three great-grandchildren: William Clark and Kaitlyn Clark, both of Campbellsburg and Marta Rangel, Shelbyville.  She was preceded in death by her husband, L. D. Carson; a daughter, Glenda P. Carson and a granddaughter, Christina Carson.

            Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 26th at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Rev. Ron Laughlin, Pastor of the Port Royal United Methodist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Dorothy Chisholm

 

          Dorothy Rose Chisholm, 86, of Louisville, died Sunday, December 16, 2012, at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham, AL.  She was the daughter of the late Jesse Lee and Virginia Lena head Chisholm.

            She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

            Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, December 22nd at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Bro. Nick Coleman of Sulphur officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

William Clark

 

          William J. Clark, 81, of Shelbyville,, formerly of Eminence, died Monday, April 16, 2001 at the Crestview Health Care Center, Shelbyville.  He was a native of Henry County, the son of the late Marvin and Ethel Moore Clark, a U. S. Army Veteran of WWII with thirteen years of service and a member of the Burks Branch Baptist Church, Shelbyville.

            He is survived by two daughters: Sue Clark and Jeannie (David) Yeary, both of Louisville and one grandson.  He was preceded in death in death by his wife, Valette McCarty Clark.

            Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 19th at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Rev. Garry Polston, Pastor of the Eminence United Methodist Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. Allen Clark, Shelbyville.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery with military graveside services.

Doris Coleman

 

          Doris Morgan Coleman, 76, of Sulphur, died Sunday, April 22, 2001 at The Richwood Nursing Home, LaGrange.  She was the daughter of the late Edgar and Emily Ruth Miller Morgan and a member of the Sulphur Christian Church.

            She is survived by her husband: Buster Coleman, Sulphur; two daughters: Jean Ann Coleman Gabbard, Frankfort and Penny (Wayne) Chilton, Longwood, FL; two sisters: Ruth Dawkins, new Castle and Edna (Harold) Tipton, Port Royal; one brother: Robert W. Morgan, Smithfield and four grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 24th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Nick Coleman, Sulphur, officiated.  Interment was in the Sulphur Cemetery.

Ruth Collins

 

          Ruth S. Collins, 77, of Middletown, died Sunday, November 24, 2002 at her residence.  She was a native of Henry County, the daughter of the late Jesse and Mary Leona Tingle Stivers, a teacher in the Henry/Shelby County School Systems and a guidance counselor for the Eminence Indepe4ndent Schools, past president of KEA 5th District, and a member of the Shelby County Retired Teacher’s Association and the Smithfield Christian Church.

            She is survived by one daughter, Sara Collins (Fred) Huggins, Louisville and two granddaughters.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph “Doc” Collins.

            Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 30th at Shannon Funeral Home, Shelbyville.  Glenn Wooters officiated.  Interment was in the Franklinton Cemetery.

Paul Cox, Sr.

 

          Paul S. Cox, Sr., 55, of Pleasureville, died Sunday, October 13, 2002 at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  He was a native of Shelby County, the son of the late James Wallace and Leora Howell Cox, an Army Veteran, an employee of Wal-Mart, LaGrange.

            He is survived by his wife: Mary Cox, Pleasureville; three daughters: Vickie (Timothy) Mertz, Owen County, LeAnne (Bobby) Keith, Pleasureville and Kimberly Cox, Frankfort; one son: Paul S. Cox, Jr., LaGrange; one sister: Dola (Paul Reese, Shelbyville; two brothers: Donnie Cox and Tom Cox, both of Shelbyville and eleven grandchildren.

            Fu neral service es were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 16th at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Bro. Dave Woosley, Pastor of Grace Baptist Church, LaGrange, officiated.  Interment was in the Grove Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville.

Earl Cranmer

 

          Earl Ray Cranmer, 55, of Eminence, died Tuesday, October 29, 2002 at Baptist Hospital Northeast, LaGrange.  He was a native of Shelby County, the son of the late Benjamin Albert and Zula Jane Robinson, owner  and operator of Cranmer Glass Works for eighteen year and a member of the Grace Assembly of God Church, Shelbyville.

            He is survived by his wife: Billie Detwiler Cranmer, Eminence; one daughter: Tammy (Ricky) Wells, Eminence; one son: Paul Thomas Cranmer, Eminence; one sister: Ann (Paul) Harvey, Eminence; four grandchildren and one great-grandson.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 1st, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Michael Duncan, Pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. Paul Harvey, Pastor of the Eminence Crossroads Lighthouse Church.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Allan Crawford

 

          Allan Bradley Crawford, 47, of Smithfield, died Friday, August 17, 2001 at Baptist Hospital East, Louisville, after a long illness.  He was a native of Jefferson County, a U.S. Army Reserve Veteran, a woodworker, a former member of the New Castle Fire & Rescue and attended the Sulphur Christian Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Virgie (Paula) Henson Crawford, Smithfield; one daughter: Jennifer Marie Crawford, Smithfield; two sons: Paul Allan Crawford, Port Royal and Joshua Bradley Crawford, Defoe; his father: Norman Crawford, Charlestown, IN; his mother: Nannie Lee Beckley Crawford, Pendleton; one brother: Scott Crawford, Pendleton; his grandmother: Leona Mae Taylor, Louisville; and two grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 20th at prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. O. B. Smith, Pastor of the Sulphur Christian Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Sulphur Cemetery.

Billy Crawford

 

          Billy Ray Crawford, 65, of Frankfort, formerly of Shelbyville, died Saturday, April 7, 2001 at his residence after an illness.  He was a native of Henry County, the son of the late Orvie B. and Beulah Thurman Crawford, and a retired roofer for 25 years.

            He is survived by his wife: Marie Crawford, New Castle; three daughters: Sherry Harrod, Frankfort, Frances Darlene Shannon and Ida Jane Shannon, both of Phoenix, AZ; one son: Roy James Crawford, Louisville; one sister: Judy (Frank) Williams, Shelbyville; three brothers: Russell Self, Louisville, Dan Self, Pontiac, MI and Orbin Thomas Wood, Grand Rapids, MI; fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Louis Crawford.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 10th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Nick Coleman, Sulphur, officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

George Crawford, Jr.

 

          George Crawford, Jr., 73, of Turners Station, died Monday, June 23, 2003 at Baptist Hospital Northeast, LaGrange, after a long illness.  He was the son of the late George and Tressie Kelley Crawford, Sr., a retired farmer, and a member of the Turners Station Baptist Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Beatrice Nalley Crawford, Turners Station; two daughters: Margaret Capito, Crestwood and Lynn (Terry) Burgin, Turners Station; three sons: Ronnie Crawford, Sr., Phillip Crawford, Sr. and Faron Crawford, all of Turners Station; two brothers: George Albert Crawford, Owenton and Elliston “Shorty” Crawford, LaGrange; three sisters: Mary Kaye Brookshire, Pleasureville, Regina McIntosh and Mildred Ellen Toombs, both of LaGrange; seventeen grandchildren and Twelve great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Theresa Ann Wilson and one grandson.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 26th at the Turners Station Baptist Church.  Rev. Jeff Coombs, of Bedford, officiated, assisted by Rev. Robin Roberts, Pastor of the Turners Station Baptist Church.  Interment was in the Turners Station Cemetery.

Mary Crawford

 

          Mary F. Crawford, 75, of Campbellsburg, died Monday, December 22, 2008.  Daughter of the late Twyman and Mary Catherine Johnson Bramblett, she was a home maker.

            She is survived by her husband: George A. Crawford, Campbellsburg; two sons: Harold R. Crawford, Milton and Albert L. Crawford, Lawrenceburg; three sisters: Sarah Mae Clifton, Betty Sue Goodrich and Elizabeth Goodrich, All of Owenton; one brother: Willie B. Bramblett, Owenton; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by one sister: Norma Jean Woods and a brother, Roy G. Bramblett. 

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 24th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Gary Sandusky, Pastor of the North Madison Church of Christ, officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Lillian Croxton

 

            Lillian Clyde Wainscott Croxton, 98, of Franklinton, died Tuesday, May 22, 2001 at Homestead Nursing Center, New Castle.  She was the daughter of the late George and Mary Whitfield Wainscott, a homemaker and the oldest member of the Franklinton Baptist Church.

            She is survived by two sons: Ray and Clay Croxton, Both of Pleasureville; one daughter: Ruth Hinkley, New Castle; one sister: Mamie Wainscott, LaGrange; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren and four great-great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 24th at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Jacky Newton, Pastor of the Franklinton Baptist Church, officiated.  Burial was in the Franklinton Cemetery.

Ruth Dawkins

 

          Ruth Morgan Dawkins, 77, of New Castle, died Sunday, December 16, 2012, at Baptist East Hospital, Louisville.  She was a pre-school recruiter and family advocate for the Henry County School System.  She was the daughter of the late Edgar Wesley and Emily Ruth Miller Morgan.

            She is survived by her daughter: Katherine A. Adams (Brad Walton), Lexington; four sons: James W.  Dawkins and Morris D. (Devona) Dawkins, both of Sulphur; Thomas L. (Mitzi Blankenship) Adams, Frankfort and William A. (Kim Martin-Dawkins) Dawkins, Sellersberg, IN; one sister: Edna (Harold) Tipton, Port Royal; seven grandchildren: Daniel, Emily, and Matthew Dawkisn, Grace Walton, Lena Adams, Alex Dawkins and Jake Dawkins.  She was preceded in death by her husbands: Tom Adams and William Dawkins; an infant son: Bradley Adams; sister: Doris Coleman and brother: Robert Morgan, Sr.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 19th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Amber Inscore-Essick, Pastor of the Port Royal Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in Sulphur Cemetery.

Mark Day

 

          Mark A. Day, 52, of Eminence, died Friday, November 23, 2012, at Baptist Hospital Northeast.  He was employed by Integris Metals.  He attended the Sulphur Baptist Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Sharon Day, Eminence; two daughters: Megan Day, Eminence and Christi (Paul) Parker, Shelbyville;  two sons: Alex Day and Michael Day, both of Eminence; his mother: Geneva Cunningham, Louisville; two sisters: Judy Day, Louisville and Linda (Raymond) Allgeier, Smithfield; and three grandsons.  He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Day, and one nephew, Paul Allgeier.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday November 28th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Bro. Timmy Purvis and Pastor Michael Fitzgerald officiated.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Don DeBord

 

          Don V. DeBord, 72, of Louisville, formerly of Pleasureville, died suddenly Thursday, June 7, 2001 at his residence.  He was a native of Cincinnati, OH, the son of the late Leslie and Ethel Stykes DeBord, a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and a retired apartment manager.

            He is survived by three sisters: Mona (Robert) Dunlap, Sharonville, OH, Juanita (W. I.) Nichols and Trina (Dan) Cassidy, both of Pleasureville; one brother: Roland DeBord, LaGrange and several nieces and nephews.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 9th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Michael Duncan, Pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Myrtle Lee Decker

 

          Myrtle Lee Frazier Decker, 72, of New Castle, died Friday, November 30, 2012.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Betty Dezarn Frazier, husband, john Decker, sisters: Barbara Long, Stella Long and Emma Jean Sanders, and brother, Walter Thomas Frazier.

            She is survived by her husband: Richard Smith, Glenmary; one daughter: Pauline (Ernie) Aldridge, Carrollton; one sister: Nancy “Doodle” Horine, New Castle; two brothers: Wilber “Puge” Frazier, Turners Station and James “Pose” Frazier, New Castle; three grandsons; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 4th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Robert Fields officiated.  Burial was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Fred Denny

 

            Fred “Skip” Denny, 85, of New Castle, died Thursday, November 22, 2012 at Homestead Nursing Center.  He was a U. S. Nay Veteran.

            He is survived by his wife: Sue Hopkins Denny, New Castle and one daughter: Donna Baker, Berea.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 25th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Michael Duncan, Pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Joseph Floden

 

          Joseph Anthony Floden, 65, of Smithfield, died Wednesday, November 6, 2002 at his residence.  He was a native of Jefferson County, the son of the late Joseph Leo and Mary Margaret Miller Floden, A U. S. Army veteran, a self-employed carpenter and a former golf pro at Oldham County, Henry County and Wildwood Country Clubs and a Catholic.

            He is survived by his wife: Patricia Ann Cathey Floden, Smithfield; one daughter: Sharon Marie Trautwein, LaGrange; one brother: Frank Floden, Louisville; three sisters: Helen Justice, Rosie Allgeier, both of Louisville and Mary Ann Lancaster, Florida; and two grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by one son, Joseph A. Floden.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 9th, at Arch L. Heady Radcliffe Funeral Home, LaGrange.  Rev. Michael Duncan, Pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, officiated.  Burial was in the Smithfield Cemetery.

Rev. Herbert Foster

 

          Rev. Herbert L. Foster, 45, of Eminence, died unexpectedly on Friday, November 15, 2002 at his home.  He was a native of Cincinnati, OH, the son of the late Alger Lynn and Patricia Thompson Foster, Sr., served in the U. S. Army, a truck driver for Allied Transport Systems for eighteen years, a Kentucky Colonel, served sat Shelbyville Church of God and other churches in Kentucky and Indiana and was serving as minister at the New Hope Church of God, Eminence.

            He is survived by his wife: Rev. Anne Foster, Eminence; one daughter: Ginger K. Overstreet, Louisville; three sons: Paul N. Overstreet, Louisville, Jeremy L. Foster, LaGrange and Andrew R. Foster, Eminence; four sisters: Patricia Jean Napier, Grace Diane Foster and Paula Sue Ashley, all of Eubank and Alpha Jane Whitters, Science Hill; two brothers: Alger Lynn Foster, Jr. and Paul David Foster, both of Somerset and five grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 18th, at the New Hope Church of God, Eminence.  Rev. J. David Stephens, State Administrative Bishop, officiated.  Burial was in the Jeffersontown Cemetery, Louisville.
