Eddie Long

 

          Eddie B. Long, 74, of New Castle, died Saturday, October 26, 2002 at Audubon Hospital, Louisville.  He was a native of Scott County, the son of the late Johnny and Gertrude Younger Long, a retired mason and a member of the First Baptist Church, Bald Knob.

            He is survived by his wife: Willetta Marie Crusch Field Long, New Castle; one daughter: Carolyn Long Hill, Okeechobee FL; three sons: Larry long, New Castle, James Joe Long, Pendleton, IN and Timothy Long, Winchester; two step-sons: Jerry Hill, Ft. Lauderdale, FL and David Hill, Georgia; one sister: Lillie Mae Anglin, Frankfort; one brother: Jesse Lee Long, Johnson City, TN; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

            A memorial services was held.  The body was cremated.  Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

William McCoy

 

          William M. McCoy, 83, of New Castle, formerly of Lexington, died Saturday, June 9, 2001 at Homestead Nursing Center, New Castle, where he was a resident for 27 years.  He was a native of Cincinnati, OH, the son of the late William Shelton and Dema Burton McCoy, a retired plumber assistant and a member of the New Castle First Baptist Church.

            He is survived by a brother-in-law: Benjamin M. Janney, Franklin, OH; several nieces and nephews.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 13th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Dr. David Charlton, Pastor of the New Castle First Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Edith M. McGee

 

          Edith M. McGee, 74, of Eminence, died Friday, December 7, 2012, at Baptist Hospital Northeast, LaGrange.  Edith was formerly of Enterprise, OR.  She was an administrative Assistant with the state employment services and was a licensed real estate broker.  She was the daughter of the late Ned Boyce.        

            She is survived by her husband, Ervin “Bob” McGee, Eminence; two daughters: Kathleen (Michael) Davis, Louisville and Elizabeth (Rick Temple) McGee, Fort Wayne, IN; one son: Ervin “Bob” (Tammy) McGee, Jr., Brownsburg, IN; mother: Clara Cribbs, Medford, OR; one sister: Dorothy (Art) Keener, OR; thirteen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

            Cremation was chosen.  A private memorial service was held at the Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Rev. Michael Duncan, Pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, officiated.

Tom Morgan

 

          Wesley Thomas “Tom” Morgan, 75, of Shelbyville, died Monday, April 15, 2002 at Norton Audubon Hospice and Palliative Care Unit, Louisville after a long Illness.  He was a native of Sligo, the son of the late James Wesley and Margaret Ann Stark Morgan, a heavy equipment operator with the Kentucky Department of Highways for 22 years and a member of the Pleasureville Baptist Church.

            He is survived by two sons: James Ray Morgan and Charles Morgan, both of Shelbyville; one sister: Ann Lee Morgan, Sligo; and three grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Ann Hutchison Morgan.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 18th at Webb Funeral Home, Shelbyville.  Rev. Edward Coleman officiated.  Burial was in the Grove Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville.

Lewis Morris

 

          Lewis B. Morris, 45, of Sulphur, died Tuesday, June 17, 2003 in Henry County.  He was a farmer and heavy equipment mechanic, a member of the Sulphur Baptist Church, and the son of the late James L. (Jimmie) Morris.

            He is survived by two sons: James Lewis Morris II, Sulphur and Jason William Morris, Pleasureville; his mother: Betsy Tipton Morris, Pendleton; a brother: Mark Morris, Campbellsburg; a companion of many years: Pam Moore Morris, Shelbyville and two grandchildren.

            Memorial services were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 19th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Ed Berry, Pastor of the Henry Christian Church, officiated, assisted by Pastor Kevin Whitt, Pastor of the Harvest Community Church, Eminence.  Interment was in the Sulphur Cemetery.

Edgar Mullins

 

          Edgar Ray Mullins, 78, of Pleasureville, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001 at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville.  He was the son of the late Edgar and Minerva Jack Mullins, a U. S. Army Veteran of WWII, a retired carpenter, and a member of the Cropper Baptist Church

            He is survived by his wife: Anna Lou Meriwether Mullins, Pleasureville; one daughter: Sheri Lanham Johnston, Colorado; one stepdaughter: Shelia Davidson, Elmburg; three step-sons: Randall Craig and Allen Craig, both of Cropper and Ronnie Craig, Shelbyville; one brother, John Mullins, Lebanon Junction; two sisters: Carol berry, New Castle and Betty Jo Corbett, Lebanon; three grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 31st at the Cropper Baptist Church.  Rev. Herbert Slaughter, Pastor of the Cropper Baptist Church, officiated, assisted by Joel Berry.  Burial was in the Wallace Cemetery.

Mary Mumphrey

 

          Mary Louise Mumphrey, 84, of Shelbyville, formerly of Frankfort, died Monday, February 12, 2001 at the Taylorsville Health Care Center after an illness.  She was a native of Henry County, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth Forker White, a homemaker and a member of the Clay Street Baptist Church.

            She is survived by three daughters: Emma Elizabeth Thomas, Eminence, Ruth R. Jackson, Shelbyville and Wilma Louise Adams, Louisville; one son: Howard Cecil Wilson, LaGrange; one step-son: Rudolph Mumphrey, Louisville; one sister: Lydia E. Fields, Shelbyville; nineteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Prentice Mumphrey.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 14th at Webb Central Funeral Home, Shelbyville.  Rev. Ronald L. Holder officiated.  Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery, Shelbyville.

Beatrice Murphy

 

          Beatrice Carter Murphy, 94, of Shelbyville, died Monday, February 9, 2004 at her residence.  She was a native of Henry County, the daughter of the late John William and Bessie Rucker Carter, a homemaker and a member of the Burks Branch Baptist Church.

            She is survived by two daughters: Dorsie Phillips and Jewell McCarty, both of Shelbyville; one son: William Murphy, Minneapolis MN; eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Estill Murphy.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 12th at Shannon Funeral Home, Shelbyville.  Rev. Billy Betts, Pastor of the Burks Branch Baptist Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. Marshall Phillips.  Interment was in the Shady Lawn Cemetery.

Kenneth Murphy

 

          Kenneth Murphy, 82, of Pendleton, died Sunday, June 23, 2002 at Tri-County Baptist Hospital, LaGrange.  He was a native of Owen County, the son of the late Henry and Bethel Oliver Murphy, a U. S. Army Veteran, and a retired tile contractor after working 37 years.

            He is survived by his wife: Rosalyn Jones Murphy, Pendleton; one daughter: Kathy Railey, Louisville; one son: Kenneth G. Murphy, Pendleton; three sisters: Alean McDonald, Frankfort, Wanda Ruth Beutel, Eminence and Patricia Disch, Campbellsburg; three brothers: Ralph Murphy, Lexington, and Richard and Russell Murphy, both of Louisville; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 27th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Dr. David Charlton, Pastor of the New Castle First Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Louisville Memorial Gardens East.

Roselyn Murphy

 

          Roselyn Jones Murphy, 79, of Pendleton, Died Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at her residence.  She was a native of Clark County, IN, the daughter of the late John and Virginia Purvis Jones, and a bookkeeper at Kreese Co., Louisville.

            She is survived by a daughter: Kathy Railey, Louisville; one son: Kenneth G. Murphy, Pendleton; one half-brother: Gene Jones, Campbellsburg; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Murphy.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 12th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Dr. Darrell Wilson, Pastor of the Harrods Creek Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Louisville Memorial Gardens East, Crestwood.

Walter Nelson

 

          Walter T. “Tommy” Nelson, 87, of Bethlehem, died Sunday, March 11, 2012 at the Homestead Nursing Center, New Castle.  He was born in Henry County and was the son of the late Justus and Martha Long Nelson.  He was a farmer and a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church, where he was a deacon.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and a lifetime member of the VFW in Frankfort.

            He is survived by his son: Ed (Suzanne) Nelson, Bethlehem; his daughter: Peggy Nelson, Frankfort; four brothers: Louis Nelson, Eminence, Donnie (Wilma) Nelson, Jeffersonville, IN, Ray (Betty) Nelson, Charlestown, IN, and Elliot “Suter” Norma Jean) Nelson, Eminence; two sisters: Lois Jamison, Louisville and Ora Lee (Dutch) Jenkins, Charlestown, IN; two grandchildren: Abbie Nelson and A. J. Nelson, both of Bethlehem; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Caldwell Nelson; a brother: Clay Nelson and one sister: Katherine Jamison.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 13th at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Delbert Butts officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Zenah Bryant Newman

 

          Zenah Bryant Newman, 84, of Pleasureville, died Sunday, June 15, 2008.  Daughter of the late Loyd F. and Burlie Rankin Bryant, she was a member of the Berea Christian Church. 

            She is survived by two daughters: Jennifer Lynn (Tom) Smoot, Louisville and Elisa Ann (Brad) New, Pleasureville; four granddaughters: Heather Lynn (Mark) Bower, Idaho Springs, CO, Holly Ann (Jon) Farris, Crestwood, Samantha Gail (Jason) Pierce, Richmond and Macie Shea New, Pleasureville; one great-granddaughter, Skylar Brook Bower, Idaho Springs, CO and several cousins.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Gayle Newman.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 18th at the Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Anthony Pierce, Pastor of the New Castle Christian Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Mary Newton

 

          Mary Jane Newton, 102, of Bagdad, died Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  She was a daughter of the late Gotthilf and Betty Shuck Ebersbaker, a former 4-H leader and volunteer in sewing and cooking projects, a homemaker and a member of the Indian Fork Baptist Church.

          She is survived by a daughter: Catherine Newton Neal, Eminence; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two step grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren and four step great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley P. Newton.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 8th at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home, Shelbyville.  Rev. Matt Frizzell and Rev. Ray Cummins officiated.  Burial was in the Bagdad Cemetery.

Earl Eugene Nichols, Jr.

 

          Earl Eugene Nichols, Jr., 67, died at Norton healthcare Pavilion on July 26, 2012.  He was the son of Earl Eugene Nichols, Sr. and Betty Hankle Nichols.  He was a U. S. Army Veteran.

            He is survived by his wife: Linda Sue Woods Nichols; his children: Jeffrey Eugene Nichols and Christopher Nichols, both of Pendleton; and Pamala Welp, New Albany, IN; stepchildren: Brian Woods, Del Rio, TX, Shaun Woods, new Castle, Margaret Shaub, Campbellsburg, Angela Miller, Carrollton and Victoria Bricino, Columbia, MO.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 30th at Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Earl Nicholas, Sr.

 

          Earl E. Nichols, 93, of Smithfield, died Tuesday, May 17, 2011 in Louisville at Robley Rex Veterans Administration.  He was the son of the late John C. Nichols, Sr. and Flossie Dickens Nichols.  He was a U. S. Veteran of WWII.

            He is survived by two daughters: Martha Linville, Bellefontaine, OH and Barbara Wright, Enon, OH; and one son: Earl E. Nicholas, Jr., Smithfield.

            Cremation was chosen by the family.  A memorial service will take place at a later date in Jamestown, OH.  Ransdell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Morris Noe

 

          Morris Carroll Noe, 66, of Turners Station, died Saturday, July 26, 2008 at his home.  He was a member of the English Christian Church and a landscaper for the Ghent Masonic Cemetery and Warsaw Cemetery.

            He is survived by his mother: Cora Raisor Zwosta, Carrollton; three sons: Richard M. Noe and William Thomas Noe. Both of Reidsville, GA and Robert Allen Noe, Carrollton; one daughter: Frances Karen Noe Beverly, Turners Station; two sisters: Reva Carmack. Carrollton and Margaret Huey, TN; companion: Fredia Scott, Turners Station; fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held Monday, July 28th at Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, Carrollton.  Rev. Michael Duncan officiated.  Interment was in the Ghent Masonic Cemetery.

Boyd Noel

 

          Boyd E. Noel, 56, of Smithfield, died Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at Baptist Northeast Hospital, LaGrange.  He was the son of the late Donald Wayne Noel.

            He is survived by his wife: Becky Adams Noel, Smithfield; his mother: Linda Gullion Noel, Smithfield; four children: Stephen Boyd Noel, New Carrollton, Maryland, Brian Noel, Wilmore, Miles G. Rison, Bedford, and Spring R. (Willie) Gorbandt, Bedford; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.  He was preceded in death by great-grandson, Jackson Wiingham.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 26th at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Rev. Denny French and Rev. Jared Gullion officiated.

Bertha Oakes

 

          Bertha Deal Oakes, 84, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Edmonton and Eminence, died Saturday, February 17, 2001 at Woodland Terrace Nursing Home, Elizabethtown.  She was a native of English, the daughter of the late John and Melvinia Hunt Smith.

            She is survived by two daughters: Georgia Pauline Robison, Campbellsburg and Omia Jean Boblitt, Elizabethtown; three sons: William and Donald Ray Peterson, both of Louisville, and John Owen Oakes, Eminence; one brother: Ben W. Smith, Carrollton; one sister: Mary L. Meeks, Carrollton; several grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husbands, William Thorne Peterson and Owen Oakes and two sons, James Lee Peterson and Joe Danny Oakes.

            Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 19th at the English Cemetery.  Butler Funeral Home, Edmonton, was in charge of arrangements.
