William Abner

 

William Ernest Abner, 65, of Campbellsburg, died on Saturday, December 26, 2009, at Baptist Hospital Northeast in LaGrange.  He was the son of the late William Thomas Abner and Faye Scarbrough Abner.  He was a Vietnam veteran and served in the U. S Navy.

 

He is survived by one son: B. J. Abner.

 

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 30th at the Ransdell Funeral Home in Campbellsburg.  Rev. Nick Coleman officiated.  Interment was in the Sulphur Cemetery

Joyce Murphy Abrams

 

Joyce Murphy Abrams, 71, of Mt. Eden, died January 14, 2010, at her residence.  She was a member of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.

 

She is survived by her husband: Donnie Abrams, Mt. Eden; one son: Tim (Jan) Abrams, New Castle; one daughter: Becky (Rome) Ingram, Mt. Eden; and also Glenn (Rhonda) Klayer, Southville.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 18th, at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Mt. Eden.  Burial was in the Grove Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville.

Wayne Aldridge

 

Wayne Lee Aldridge, 65, of Bardstown, formerly of Henry County, died Thursday, January 7, 2010, at the Life Care Center in Bardstown.  He was a U. S. Army Veteran.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 10th at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Victor Slatten of Living Waters Pentecostal Church in Harrodsburg officiated.  Interment was in the Wallace Cemetery in Lockport.

Vicki Atha

 

Vicki Atha, 52, of Monterey, died Friday, December 25, 2009, at the New Horizons Medical Center.  She was the daughter o0f the late Bobby and Janis Rhodes Atha, the activities director at homestead Nursing Center in New Castle and was a member of the Monterey Christian Church.  She was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University where she received a major in English and a minor in music.

 

She is survived by her husband: Billy Meringer, Monterey; one daughter: Janice Whitaker (Adam), Monterey; three brothers: Wesley Atha and John Atha, Both of Frankfort and Dennis Atha, Monterey and two grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by one brother: Harvey Atha.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 30th at McDonald and New Funeral Home.  Interment was in the Monterey Cemetery.

Gertrude Bailey

 

Gertrude Tingle Bailey, 86, of Shelbyville, died Saturday, November 21, 2009, at the Masonic Home of Shelbyville. She was the daughter of the late Roy Beckham and Sarah Elizabeth Vest Tingle, a homemaker and a member of the Burks Branch Baptist Church.

 

She is survived by three sons: Roy T. Bailey, Douglas L. Bailey and Darrell W. Bailey, all of Shelbyville; two daughters: Mary Jo Barbour, Shelbyville and Valendia Ott, LaGrange; three brothers: Lawrence Gene Tingle, Shelbyville, Cecil Tingle, Eminence and Jodey Lee Tingle, Frankfort; four sisters: Frances Stamper and Nancy Reed, both of Shelbyville, Lula Parrish and Margie Wilson, both of Frankfort; fourteen grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband: Joda E. Bailey and two brothers: William Tingle and James Tingle.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 23rd at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home, Shelbyville.  Rev. Jesse Baxter officiated.  Interment was in the Shady Lawn Cemetery, Shelby County.

Michael Barnsfather

 

Michael Barnsfather, 59, of Pleasureville, died December 2, 2009 at his residence.

 

He is survived by his wife: Vicki Barnsfather; one son: Shane (Dee) Barnsfather; one daughter: Lynda (Darrell) Latherm; his parents: Clayborn and Sue Barnsfather; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

 

Arrangements were handled by the Cremation Society of Louisville.  No further services were held.

Emma Bickers

 

Emma W. Bickers, 95, of Campbellsburg, died Monday, October 26, 2009, at the Richwood Nursing Home in LaGrange.  She was the daughter of the late George Alvin Washburn and Maude Tingle Washburn and a member of the Campbellsburg Baptist Church.

 

She is survived by three sons: Everett Bickers, Greenville, IN, Doug Bickers and wife, Judy, Shelbyville, TN and Danny Bickers and wife, Theresa, Campbellsburg; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett L. Bickers, one sister: Ada Mae Washburn and two brothers: John and Gilbert Washburn.

 

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 28th at the Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg.  Rev. Shawn Golden, Campbellsburg Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Campbellsburg Masonic Cemetery.

Dicksie Bradford

 

Dicksie Bradford, 66, of Okeechobee, FL, died Saturday, January 9, 2010 in Okeechobee.  She was the daughter of the late Richard and Lucy Stamper.

 

She is survived by her husband: Billy Bradford and one son: Tim Bradford, Port Royal.

 

Funeral services were held at 7:00 P.m., Tuesday, January 12th, at the First Baptist Church.  Pastor Randy Huckabee officiated.  Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Crematory was in charge of arrangements.

Carrie D. Brumagen

 

Carrie D. Brumagen, 103 of Bethlehem, died Sunday, January 31, 2010, at the Richwood in LaGrange.

She was born in Robertson County, the daughter of the late Isaac Thomas Shepherd and Lula Kate Stoker Shepherd.  She was a homemaker, farmer and taught school at the Mason and Robertson County School Systems for more than 35 years.  She was a member of the Piqua United Methodist Church and the Bethlehem United Methodist Church.

 

She is survived by one daughter: Katie Sue Yount (Robbie), Bethlehem and one grandson: William Russell Yount (Bonnie), Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  She was also “Ma B” to Theresa Clements (George), Pleasureville; Robbin Mashburn (Rodney), Pendleton; Jackie White (Joseph), Point Pleasant and Anthony Mashburn (Kerrie), Campbellsburg.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 3rd at Piqua Christian Church, Mt. Olivet.  Jim Shepherd officiated.  Interment was in the Piqua Christian Church Cemetery.

Johnny Burch

 

Johnny Burch, 82, of Eminence, died Saturday, January 16, 2010.  Son of the late Henry and Bertha Sanders Burch, he was a U. S. Army Veteran.

 

He is survived by one brother: Forrest H. Burch, Port Royal.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 20th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.

Alfred Busby

 

Alfred Busby, 103, of Eminence, died Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at Friendship Manor Nursing Home in Peewee Valley.  He was the son of the late Webster Busby and Lula Bond.

 

He is survived by his foster son: Cassia Hill, Louisville; one son: Glenn Busby, Louisville and one daughter: Sherron Busby, Eminence.

 

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 30th, at the Eminence First Baptist Church.  Rev. Charles Duncan officiated.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.  Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Beulah Chilton

 

Beulah Simpson Chilton, 88, of Hemet, CA, died Thursday, February 4, 2010, at the Alvarado Hospital in Hemet.  She was the daughter of the late William O. “Bill” and Margaret Thomas Simpson.

 

She is survived by one daughter: Sally Richey, San Diego, CA; two sons: Ronnie R. Chilton, Hemet, CA and Wayne T. Chilton, Longwood, FL.

 

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 13th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.

Hallie Chilton

 

Hallie D. Chilton, 87, of Turners Station, died Monday, December 14, 2009 in LaGrange at Baptist Hospital Northeast.  She was the daughter of the late Jess E. and Anna Belle McManis Doll, a member of the Turners Station Baptist Church and a past member of the Homemakers.

 

She is survived by her husband: Edward L. Chilton, Turners Station; two children: Marie A. Foust, Benton and Joe A. Chilton, Turners Station; one brother: Ernest Doll, Turners Station; and two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by six siblings: Ed, J. B., Frank, Rosie, Pauline and William.

 

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 18th at Ransdell Funeral Home in Campbellsburg.  Brother Earl Wayne Perry officiated.  Interment was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

Orville Clark

 

Orville “Goose” Clark, 76, of Campbellsburg, died Saturday, January 30, 2010, at Suburban Hospital.

 

He is survived by his daughter: Melissa Cunningham, LaGrange; and three sons: Orville David Clark, Bethlehem, Jeffrey Scott Clark, Bedford and Kenneth Ray Clark, Campbellsburg.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 2nd, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Barry Broyles, Pastor of the LaGrange Assembly of God Church, officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Thomas F. Cox

 

Thomas F. Cox, 88, of Fairfield, OH passed away Monday, July 31, 2006 at Jewish Hospital, Kenwood.  He was born November 10, 1917 in Campbellsburg, KY, the son of the late Owen and Marie Haggard Cox.  On June 7, 1941 Tom married June R. Burke in Cincinnati.  He served his country during WWII in the U. S. Army.  Mr. Cox retired from Standard Publishing in Mt. Healthy, OH in 1982.  Tom was a founding member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. 

 

He is survived by his children: Thomas M. (Rebecca) Cox, Judith M. (David) Huddleson, Michael D. Huddleson, Christopher R. Thomas, Stephanie N. Thomas, Katherine D. Cox, Thomas W. Cox, Emily R. Hoskins and Erin E. Hoskins; great-grandchild: Luke R. Thomas and sister: Martha J. Cox.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: June R. Cox and five brothers.

 

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 4th at Sacred Heart Church, Fairfield, OH with Father Larry Tharp, Celebrant.  Burial followed at Gate of Heaven.

Elizabeth Cravens

 

Elizabeth “Tickey” Cravens, 86, of Eminence, died Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at Crestview Center in Shelbyville.  Daughter of the late Leslie and Rena McGrew Harp, she worked for the Kentucky State Transportation Division for 21 years and was a member of the Eminence Baptist Church.

 

She is survived by her husband: Melvin W. Cravens, Eminence; one son: Ronald Lynn Cravens, Shelbyville; one sister: Patsy Worrell, Louisville; and two grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by one son: Kerry K. Cravens and one grandson.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 25th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Michael Duncan, Pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

Don Daniels

 

Don Daniels, 72, of Smithfield, died Thursday, December 3, 2009, at Norton’s Health Care of Louisville.  He was an educator, coach, An Air Force Veteran and a member of the Smithfield Baptist Church.  He was the son of the late Jim and Vernie Smith Daniels.

 

He is survived by one son: Donny (Sandy) Daniels and wife, Melvin; one brother: Noah Daniels, Titusville, FL; three sisters: Agnes Reynolds, Prospect, Virginia Spradlin, Jeffersontown and Gwendolyn Fulks, Winter Haven, FL, and three grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by one brother: James Daniels, four sisters: Ann MacCarter, Willa Dean Patton, Barbara Platter and Faye Smith.

 

Funeral services were held at noon Monday, December 7th at Evergreen Funeral Home, Louisville.  Rev. Ed life and Bobby Isaac officiated.  Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Louisville.

William “Nick” Davis, Jr. 54, of Shelbyville, formerly of Eminence, died on Friday, February 5, 2010.

 

He is survived by his daughter: Dabonna Wright Winstead and one son: Brian Wright.

Juanita Dodd, 84, of New Castle, died Friday, December 25, 2009, at Jewish Hospital in Shelbyville.

 

She is survived by her daughter: Janice DeSpain, Simpsonville; one son: Elmer Dodd, Pleasureville; eight grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Eddie Downey

 

Eddie Downey, 84, of Defoe, died Saturday, October 31, 2009, at homestead Nursing Center in new Castle.  He was a farmer and a member of the Franklinton Baptist Church.  He was the son of George and Bernice Moore Downey.  He is survived by his wife: Marie Martin Downey, Defoe; one son: Denny (Laura) Washburn, Defoe; two daughters: Janie Washburn, Defoe and Becky Washburn, Point Pleasant;; four grandchildren: Ashley (Dale Goodrich) Henson, Emilee Spencer, Hayley Spencer and Dawson Spencer; one great-grandchild: Camon Goodrich; one nephew: Jerry Downey; extended family: Charles Jennings, Marshall Peyton, Glenna Rowland and Susie Downey.  He was preceded in death by one sister, Sue Downey.

 

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 3rd, at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Jacky Newton, Pastor of the Franklinton Baptist Church officiated.  Interment was in the Wallace Cemetery.

Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Downey, 60, of Bethlehem, died Thursday, January 14, 2010, at her residence.  She was the daughter of the late Henry Hoffman and Nancy Banks Hoffman Basham.

 

She is survived by her husband: Cecil Ray Downey, Bethlehem; two sons: Harry Douglas Schimpler, Cynthiana and Cecil Ray Downey, Jr., Bethlehem.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 16th at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Dr. Rafael Macaranas, Hosparus Chaplain, officiated.  Interment was in the Point Pleasant Cemetery.

Sandra Dee Drew, 48, of Shelbyville, died Monday, February 8, 2010, at the Jewish Shelbyville Hospital.  She was the daughter of the late Kenneth Earl and Mary Ann Armstrong Tindle.

 

She is survived by one daughter, Lisa Summitt, Shelbyville.
