Terry Scott Goodlett

 

Terry Scott Goodlett, 32, of Pendleton, died Saturday, February 6, 2010, at Suburban Hospital.  He was a loader/operator at Ohio Valley Aluminum.

 

He is survived by his wife: Amanda Goodlet; one daughter: Kendall Goodlett; two dons: Trenton and Payton Goodlett; mother: Teresa Goodlett; father: Bud Goodlett; two sisters: Kim Goodlett and Donna Carter; two brothers: Shaun and Quincy Goodlett and grandparents: Willa and Elvin Wolfe.  He was preceded in death by grandparents and one cousin, Matthew Mayse.

 

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 9th, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Earl Wayne Perry, associate pastor of the Sligo Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Campbellsburg Masonic Cemetery.

Robert Harmon

 

Robert Harmon, 67, of Bedford, died Monday at Baptist Northeast Hospital in LaGrange.  He was the son of the late Lloyd Lee Harmon and Lola Mae Brown Harmon, Milton. 

 

He is survived by his wife: Emma Faye McCane Harmon, Bedford; five children: Carol Ann Harmon, Carrollton, Mellisa Jane Temple and husband, Bill, Milton, Robert B. Harmon and James Dennis Harmon, both of Bedford, and Rhonda Lynn Harmon, Eminence; seven sisters: Virginia Pearce, Corbin, Opal Harmon, Seymour, IN, Joyce Romans, Brooksburg, Diane Hensley, Carrollton, Francis McFarland, Vevay, IN, Byrle Westrick and Nadie McCane, both of Milton; five brothers: Gayle Harmon, Florence, John Harmon, Milton, Steven Harmon, Hamilton, OH, Keith Harmon, Bedford and Tony Harmon, Madison, IN; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by two brothers Ernest and Dale and one sister, Ernestine.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 19th at Ransdell Funeral Home, Bedford.  Rev. Adam Faulkner officiated. Interment was in the Bedford Cemetery.

James Harp, Sr.

 

James “Jimmy” Ray Harp, Sr., 65, of Campbellsburg, died Saturday, January 9, 2010.  He was a U. S. Army Veteran.

 

He is survived by his son: James R. Harp, Jr., Campbellsburg; his daughter: Wanona Lynn Hudson, Lockport.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 11th, at Sholar Funeral Home in Pleasureville.  Rev. Paul Briscoe, Pastor of the Lockport Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Alene Harvey

 

Alene Spurr Harvey, 90, of New Castle, died Wednesday, December 9, 2009, at Baptist Hospital Northeast in LaGrange.  Daughter of the late William H. and Eulah Lee Birch Spurr, she was a member of the Crossroads Lighthouse Church in Eminence and formerly worked at the Kentucky State Hospital in Louisville.

 

She is survived by three daughters: Wanda Mooreland and husband, john, Indianapolis, Deloris Roberts and husband, Mike, Buckner and Charlene Aldridge, Sulphur; four sons: James E. Louden and wife, Connie, Columbus, OH, David E. Louden and wife, Brenda, and Larry L. Louden and wife, Molly, all of Sulphur, Joseph A. Louden and wife, Joyce, Louisville; one sister: Savannah Jones, Indianapolis; one brother: Harvey Spurr, Franklin, IN; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her first husband: Howard T. Louden; her second husband: William A. Harvey; four sisters: Mary Lee Lambert, Gladys Aldridge, Della West and Velma Beard; one brother: David Spurr and one son: Isaac Louden.

 

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 12th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Paul Harvey, Pastor of the Crossroads Lighthouse Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Bedford Cemetery.

Rebecca Harvey

 

Rebecca “Becky” Raisor Harvey, 53, of Louisville, died Tuesday, February 2, 2010.  She was the daughter of the late Quintis E. “Tuck” Raisor.

 

She is survived by her mother: Mary Alice Waits Raisor, Louisville; and two foster sons: Michael Branham and Christopher Branham, both of Louisville.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 5th, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Chaplain Ken Bowman, Churchill Downs, officiated.  Bro. Alex Wilson, Pastor of the Portland Church of Christ, assisted.  Interment was in the Point Pleasant Cemetery.

Edward Hedges

 

Edward Earl Hedges, 61, of Shelbyville, died, January 9, 2010, in Shelbyville.  He was the son of the late Bernard Cleon Hedges and Mary Edith Hughes Hedges.

 

He is survived by four daughters: Heather, Tammy and Darlene Hedges, all of Shelbyville and Khrissi Smith, Tampa, FL and two sons: Edward Ear Hedges II, Harrodsburg and Nelson Edward Hedges, Louisville.

 

Funeral Services were held at 9:00 a.m. Monday, January 11th at Shannon Funeral Home in Shelbyville.  Interment was in the Kentucky Veteran’s Cemetery in Radcliff.

Hollis Heightchew

 

Hollis Ray Heightchew, 70, of Lexington, formerly of Pleasureville, died Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at his residence.  He was the son of the late Herbert and Rosa Ann Carter Heightchew.  He was a U. S. Army Veteran and a member of the Union Baptist Church.

 

He is survived by his son: Larry Ray Heightchew, Marietta, GA; two step-sons: Ernest J. Aldridge and Jerry Aldridge, both of Henry County; three step-daughters: Frances Wentworth, Henry County, Audrey Preston, Pleasureville and Wanda Banta, Trimble County; one brother: R. W. Heightchew, Lawrenceburg; sixteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife: Mae Della Sculley Heightchew, one brother: Walter H. Heightchew and one sister: Etta Mae Auxier.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 27th at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Jerry Anderson, Pastor of the Pleasureville Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Jacqueline Hill

 

Jacqueline “Jackie” Hill, 76, of Louisville, formerly of Eminence, died Monday, February 1, 2010, at Baptist East Hospital.  She was the daughter of the late Allie M. and Kathryn Bemiss Hill.

 

A memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Harvey Browne Memorial Presbyterian Church, Louisville.

Lillian Himes

 

Lillian M. “Lil” Willett Blackburn Himes, 79, of Cleves, OH died Sunday, October 25, 2009, at the

Hospice of Cincinnati at Mercy Hospital.  She had worked as a food services supervisor at the Carroll County Hospital and Hillview Nursing Home.  She was a member of the Cleves Church of Christ.

 

She was the beloved wife of Harry L. Himes and the late John P. Blackburn; the devoted mother of Rebecca Ison and John Blackburn, both of Carrollton; stepmother of Michael Himes, Karon Stockman

And Karol Cannon; the loving grandmother of Kara and Kane Ison and Lorrin Blackburn; the step-grandmother of Robert and Sara Himes, Michelle Rees, Elizabeth Mazzaro, Andra and Walter Cannon IV; the great-grandmother of Mackinze Rees; the dear sister of Orville Willett, Ft. Thomas, Elsie Newkirk, Campbellsburg, and the late Ruth McManis, Turners Station and the dear daughter of the late Ura and Bessie Easton Willett.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

 

Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 30th at the Turners Station Cemetery.  Ransdell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Peggy Holloway

 

Peggy A. Holloway, 62, of Carrollton, died Sunday, January 3, 2010 at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville.  She is survived by her husband: Charles Holloway, Carrollton; two stepdaughters: Ann Marie Holloway Mary Rose Stone; two step sons: Donald and Ronald Holloway; two sisters and three brothers.

 

Memorial services were held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, January 9th at Cove Hill Baptist Church.  Rev. Joe Kindoll, Pastor of the Cove hill Baptist Church, officiated.  Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Janet Gentry Hughes

 

Janet gentry Hughes, 72, of Cropper, died Monday, January 11, 2010 at her residence.  She was born in Lexington; the daughter of the late R. W. and Myra Lake Gentry.  She was a member of the Pleasureville Christian Church, a farmer and a homemaker.

 

She is survived by two daughters: Myra Hughes, Lexington and Melanie Hughes Jefferson, Louisville; two sons: James Gentry Hughes and Allen Paul Hughes, both of Louisville; one brother: Bob Gentry, Lexington; one sister: Betty Summers, Prestonsburg; six grandchildren: Jake Hughes, Corey Hughes, Douglas Jefferson, Rachael Jefferson, Nicole Hughes and Madelyn Hughes.  She was preceded in death by her husband: James Eli Hughes.

 

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 14th at the Pleasureville Christian Church.  Rev. Libby McManis officiated.  Interment was in the Hughes Cemetery, Elmberg.

Sandy Jeffries

 

Sandy Lee Jeffries, 49, of Eminence, died Wednesday, December 16, 2009 in Eminence.  She was a former service representative at various retail stores and the daughter of the late James Allen Wheeler, Sr.

 

She is survived by her husband: Elzie L. Jeffries III, Eminence; one daughter: Melissa Riddle (Jack), Louisville; mother: Lee Wheeler, Eminence; one brother: Chip Wheeler (Cindy), Shelbyville; one grandson and two nephews.  She was preceded in death by one son: Warren Allen West.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 18th at Shannon Funeral Home, Shelbyville.  Interment was in the Grove Hill Cemetery.

Robert “Bob” E. Johnson, Sr.

 

Robert “Bob” E. Johnson, Sr., 71, of Crestwood passed away Saturday, November 28, 2009.  He was born in Jefferson County.  He was a job coordinator for American Heavy Equipment Training and a member of the Harrods Creek Baptist Church. 

 

He is survived by his wife: Mary Johnson; one son: Ed Johnson (Linda); two daughters: Kathy Parrish (Lee) and Karen Mosgrove (Scott); two brothers: Doug Johnson (Dora) and Jimmy Johnson (Nellie; a sister: Nancy Noel (Buddy) and eight grandchildren.

 

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, at the Harrods Creek Baptist Church, Crestwood.

Betty Kemper

 

Betty Jean Kemper, 80, of Winter Springs, FL, formerly of New Castle, died Friday, November 6, 2009, at her residence.  She was the daughter of the late Harrison and Blanche Lusby Rose, a member of the Owenton First Christian Church and a homemaker. 

 

She is survived by two sons: Jerry Ellis, Dry Ridge and Stephen Ellis, Winter Springs, FL; one stepson: Leon Cohen, New Castle; two-step-daughters: Madeline Stone, Louisville and Janice Meade, Irvine; fourteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Kemper.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 9th at McDonald and New Funeral Home, Owenton.  Bro. David “Milkweed” Wotier officiated.   Interment was in the Owenton Cemetery.

Jane Lucas

 

Jane R. Lucas, 94, of Brevard, NC, died Monday, January 4, 2010, at the Oaks of Brevard.  Born in Eminence, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Louella Rice Fallis.  She graduated from Eminence High School and lived most of her life in Cincinnati, OH.  She was a loving wife, mother and mother-in-law.

 

She is survived by her son: Woody R. Lucas and wife Janice, Etowah, NC and cousins: David Krauth, Lilburn, GA and Jack Milam, Decatur, GA.  She was preceded in death by her husband: Charles L. Lucas and cousin: Jo Louise Milam.

 

Funeral services will be planned at a later date in Eminence.  Moore Funeral Home in Brevard is caring for the family.

Sandy Marshall

 

Sandy Marshall, 87, of Covington, formerly of Absecon, NJ, died Thursday morning, December 10, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Covington.  Sandy was born Myrtle Sanford but was nicknamed Sandy while she was serving in the U. S. Navy during WWII. 

 

She is survived by her ex-husband: Joseph C. Marshall (Louise); one daughter: Judy Dapp; two sons: Steve (Terri) Marshall and Joe (Beth) Marshall, all of New Jersey; one sister: Bebee Watts and one brother: Thomas Sanford, both of Pleasureville and five grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, December 19th at Sholar Funeral Home in Pleasureville

Eva Matthews, 65, of Park City, died Monday, October 19, 2009 at the U of L Hospital.  Born in LaGrange she was a homemaker and daughter of the late Turner and Thelma Henry.

 

 She is survived by her husband: Mitchell Matthews; one daughter: Laurie Norris (Jeff), Glasgow; one son: Lee Moore, Jr. (Michelle), Shelbyville; one step-daughter: Lisa Votaw (Mike), Glasgow; grandchildren: Candice Williams (Josh), Hope Jamil (Josh), Kara Flowers, Abigail Moore, Lee Elliston Moore III; step-grandchildren: Aaron and Ashley Polston; great-grandchildren: Anna and Jackson Williams; brothers: Stanley Henry, Ricky Henry and Pete Henry and one sister: Delores Powell.  She was preceded in death by one sister: Doris Moore and one step-daughter: Karen Scott.

 

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.  Highlands Funeral Home, Louisville, was in charge of arrangements.

Charles McCarty

 

Charles McCarty, 76, of LaGrange, died Friday, February 5, 2010, at his home.

 

He is survived by his wife: Nancy Beard McCarty, one son: Scott McCarty; three daughters: Teresa and Tammy McCarty and Wanda Evans.

 

Funeral services were held on Monday, February 8th at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home and Cremation Service, LaGrange.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Carnell McDonald

 

Carnell McDonald, 86, of Pendleton, died Sunday, December 6, 2009.  He was a retired carpenter and farmer and had been the oldest living member of the Buckner Christian Church.

 

He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Kathleen Corbin McDonald, Pendleton; two daughters: Sue Lawrence and Linda Marsh Custer; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

 

Oldham County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

James McGrew

 

James L. “Jim” McGrew, retired U. S. Air Force of Marion, Montana, died Thursday, November 19, 2009 in Kalispell, Montana.  He was retired from a career in the Air Force and was a member of the Point Pleasant Christian Church.  He was the son of the late Barton McGrew.

 

He is survived by his mother: Naomi (Lolly) McGrew, New Castle; one brother: William (Bill) McGrew, Eminence; two sisters: Martha Dewitt (Roy), Eminence and Jean McGrew (Jay Hood), Pleasureville; five nieces and one nephew and former wife, Sherry McGrew. 

 

Cremation was chosen with Buffalo Hill Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.  A memorial service will be held at the Point Pleasant Christian Church at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 28th.
