Roy Dewitt

Roy Dewitt, 67, of Eminence, died Friday, February 4, 2011, at his residence. He was the3 son of the late Austin and Jesse Vanconey Dewitt. Mr. Dewitt retired from the Henry County Board of Education where he worked in maintenance and worked part-time at Perry�s Tri-County Hardware and Lumber. He was a member of the Point Pleasant Christian Church where he served as Deacon and Trustee and was a member of the First Christian Church of Haines City, FL.

He is survived by his wife: Martha Dewitt, Eminence; one don: Robert Dewitt (Rebecca Holdredge) , St. Louis, MO; two daughters: Patricia Lair (William), Linden, TN and Linda Dewitt, Cheyenne, WY; three brothers: Austin Dewitt, Jr., Chestnut, IL, and Orville and Wayne Dewitt, both of Hawesville; three sisters: Lucille Clark (John), Brandenburg, Louise Bratcher (Dwain), and Barbara Purcell (Jim), Lake Wales, FL; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Claude Dewitt and one sister, Willa Mae Neff.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, February 7th, at Point Pleasant Christian Church. Rev Jim McDaniel, Pastor of the Point Pleasant Christian Church, officiated. Interment was in the Point Pleasant Cemetery.

Martha R. Doane

Martha R. Doane, 89, of New Castle, died Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at Homestead Nursing Center in new Castle. Daughter of the late Ira E. and Callie Frances Moore Raisor, she was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church in Trimble County and graduated from Trimble County high School.

She is survived by her three sons: Elmer Lee Doane and Dwayne Berry Doane and wife, Brenda, all of New Castle and Wirt Turner Doane and wife, Tammy, Smithfield; one brother: Donison Lee Raisor (Helen) , Roseville, CA; three grandsons: Travis Lee Doane, Smithfield, Brian Keith Doane, Allentown, PA, and Austin turner Doane and wife, Sarah, Campbellsburg; three granddaughters: Dwana Kaye Doane (Shaun Woods) and Danielle Lynn Doane, all of New Castle, and Shannon Nicole Doane Wilson (KC), Turners Station; three great-grandchildren: Kaiden Cole Wilson, Jazmin Taylor Doane and Kayleigh Renee Murry; two nephews: Donnie and Kellie Raisor, Roseville, CA and one niece: Robin Louise Raisor, Sacramento, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Doane, Jr., and two sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 22nd, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Lin Powell officiated. Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Dianna Dorsey-Fox

Dianna Jean Dorsey-Fox, 52, of Eminence, died Sunday, May 29, 2011, at Norton Hospital Hospice Unit, Louisville.

She is survived by her husband: Rick Fox, Eminence; and her parents: Kenneth and Charlotte Dorsey, Blairsville, GA.

A memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 1st, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Tommy Eldridge officiated.

Gayle Douglas

Gayle Douglas, 80, of Franklinton, died Friday, May 13, 2011. He was the son of the late John and Ethel Jones Douglas. Mr. Douglas was a proud Marine who served in the Korean Conflict, a life-long farmer, and a member and deacon of the Franklinton Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty LeCompte Douglas; two sons: Steven Douglas (Thelma) and Phillip Douglas (Cindy); two daughters: Kathy Erwin (Bobby) and Lynnette Yount (John David); ten grandchildren: Kylen Douglas (Beth), Micah Douglas, Erin Samuels (Steve), Brett Foree, Kaitlyn Foree, Phillip Robert Douglas, Michael Douglas, Jacob Yount, Justin Yount and Jared Yount; one great-grandson: Kaine Samuels; one brother: Melvin Douglas (Jean-Anne) and one sister: Ann Margaret Thomas (Reuben).

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 16th, at the Franklinton Baptist Church. Rev Jacky Newton, Pastor of the Franklinton Baptist Church, officiated. Interment was in the Franklinton Cemetery. Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville, was in charge of arrangements.

Pauline (Polly) Downey

Pauline (Polly) Downey, 68, of Lockport, died Thursday, February 3, 2011, at Jewish Hospital in Shelbyville. She was born in Henry County and was the daughter of the late Charles and Rosa Moppins Downey. She was a homemaker and belonged to the Lockport Baptist Church.

She is survived by two brothers: Charles Grover Washburn, Frankfort and Russell Washburn, New Castle; one sister: Rosa Mae Washburn, Lockport; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded
in death by her husband, Bill S. Downey and one brother, Joe Washburn.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 5th, at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville. Rev. Michael Duncan, Pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, officiated. Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Sally Downey

Sally Frances Webster Downey, 73, of Eminence, died Sunday, March 13, 2011, at Homestead Nursing Center in New Castle. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lulie Hammod Webster.

She is survived by two daughters: Gloria A. Kincaid and Tammy Keith, both of Eminence; one stepdaughter: Dale Phelps Frakes, Smithfield; two stepsons: Bobby Downey, Pleasureville and Lionel D. Downey, Tucson, AZ.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 17th, at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville. Rev. Ed Berry, Pastor of the Henry Christian Church and Rev. Paul Harvey, officiated. Interment was in the Grub Ridge Cemetery.

Margaret Dunagan

Margaret Adelaide Dunagan, 68, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, March 6, 2011, at her residence. She was the daughter of the Late Reuben Jennings and Anna Lewis Boling.

She is survived by her son: Mark Dunagan, Louisville.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 10th, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Rev. Dave Charlton, Pastor of the Shelbyville Christian Church, officiated. Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Chauntay Durrett

Chauntay Durrett, 31, of Shelbyville, formerly of Henry County, died Monday, May 16 2011 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. She was the daughter of the late Lena Durrett.

She is survived by her father: James Brown, Shelbyville.

A memorial service was held on Wednesday May 18th at 2:00 p.m. at the Campbellsburg Second Baptist Church. Ransdell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Greg Davis

Greg Davis, 16, of Bethlehem, died Sunday, July 31, 2011, at U of L Hospital. Greg was a junior at the Henry County High School where he served as Chaplain for the Future Farmers of America. Formerly of Jeffersontown, he previously attended St. Edward Catholic School. Greg was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman.

He is survived by his parents: Tim and Karen Davis, Bethlehem; one brother: Scott Davis, Bethlehem; and grandparents: Elvia Parrott and Charles Davis.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 4th, at Henry Christian Church. Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Joseph Delaney

Joseph Delaney, 84, of Eminence, died Sunday, August 7, 2011, at his residence. He was the son of the late Chester and Lela May Smithers Delaney. He was a WWII Army Veteran.

He is survived by his daughter: Betty Jo Coen, Eminence; one son: Dennis Delaney, Eminence. A private graveside service was held at Zachary Taylor National Cemetery. Prewitt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Selbert Downey

Selbert Downey, 80, of Bethlehem, died Thursday, August 11, 2011, at Norton Hospital in Louisville. He was born in Bethlehem on January 27, 1931, and was the son of Marvin and Ida Belle Moppins Downey. He was a farmer and brakepress operator and attended the Bethlehem Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife: Delane Evelyn Woods Downey, Bethlehem; two sons: Coleman Downey (Sissy), Bethlehem and Fred Downey (Deanne), Eminence; one daughter: Lynn Elmore, Bethlehem; four brothers: Marvin Douglas Downey, Pleasureville, Ed Downey, Franklinton, Ray Downey and Cecil Downey, both of Bethlehem; one sister: Myrtle Sallee, Eminence; five grandchildren: Brett Downey, Christopher Downey, Derrick Downey, Kyle Downey and Hannah Elmore; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother: Jasper Downey and sisters: Fronie Willhite, Rachel Peyton and Maudie Morrison.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 14th. Rev. Terry True officiated. Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Clyne Drew

Clyne Drew, 60, of New Castle, died Saturday, February 11, 1995 at his home. He was a native of Mayfield and a farmer.

He is survived by two sons: David Drew, Shelbyville and Thomas Downey, Pleasureville; one daughter: Betty Anne Gaines, Waddy; five brothers: Raymond Drew, Shelbyville, Kenny Drew, Sedalia, TN, Bobby Jo Drew, Mayfield, Claude Drew, Cropper, and Charles Drew, Bowling Green and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 15th, at Shannon Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Rev. Ted Shouse officiated.
