Virginia Mahoney 

Virginia Neville Mahoney, 75, of New Castle, died Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at Baptist Hospital Northeast in LaGrange. 

She is survived by two sons: Jeff Booth, Bethlehem, and Allen Dean Booth, Indiana. 

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 26th, at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville.  Rev. Steve Galyon and Jim Simmons officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

JoAnn Claxton McCurry

 

JoAnn Claxton McCurry, 60, of Campbellsburg, died Wednesday, January 26, 2011. 

She is survived by her husband: William McCurry, Jr., Campbellsburg; one son: Clifton Grissamore; three sisters: Jeannetta Kimberlin and her husband, Tom, Glenna Daugintis and her husband, Steve, and Darlenna Reynolds and her husband, Pete; six brothers: Bill Kilburn, Jr. and wife, Jeanine, Ron Kilburn and his wife, Judy, Tim Kilburn and his wife, Tracy, Rick Kilburn and his wife, Betsy, Don Kilburn and Roger Kilburn and his wife Rhonda. 

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 31st, Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home, LaGrange.  Interment was in the Indian Veterans Cemetery in Madison, IN.

Frances Mershall

 

Frances Colbert Mershall, 81, of Bedford, died Friday, April 4, 2003 at Baptist Hospital Northeast in LaGrange.  She was the daughter of the late W. O. and Ruth Conn Colbert, a homemaker, and a member of the Bedford Baptist Church. 

She is survived by her husband: Gilbert “Buddy” Mershall; one daughter: Susan Hughes, Bedford; one sister: Bernice Pettet, Milton; eight Grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a daughter: Betty Carol Weaver and a son: Eddie Mershall. 

Funeral services were held Sunday, April 6th at 2:00 p.m. at Ransdell Funeral Home, Bedford.  Burial was in the Bedford I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Martha Mills

 

Martha Brown Porter Mills, 88, of Louisville, died Sunday, February 13, 2011. 

She is survived by her sister: Lillian Moody Easley and her niece: Brenda Moody Sholar, Pleasureville. 

Funeral services were held Thursday, February 17th, in Louisville.  Interment was in Chenoweth Run Cemetery.  Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville was in charge of arrangements.

Robert “Bobby” Moore

 

Robert W. “Bobby” Moore, 85, of Eminence, died Thursday, February 24, 2011, at Crestview Health Care in Shelbyville.  Son of the late James Henry and Grace Watkins Moore, he was an electrical/mechanical maintenance technician at Hussey Copper.  He was a member of the Eminence Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent at age 17 and w2as a deacon for 65 ½ years.  He worked on the Eminence Independent School Board for 23 ½ years. 

He is survived by two sons: Byron L. Moore and wife, Kathy, Eminence and R. Lamarr Moore and wife, Linda S., Prospect; one sister: Carolyn Janes, Louisville; two brothers: Gene Moore and wife, Betty, Louisville and Rev. James Moore and wife, Margie, Bloomington, IN; five grandchildren: Leann Moore, Alex Moore, Jon Moore, Max Moore and Daryl Hester.  He was preceded in death by his wife: Betsy M. Moore; three sisters: Laurence Drescher, Mary Henry Frazier and Kaye Moore. 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 27th, at the Eminence Baptist Church.  Rev. Michael Duncan, Pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, officiated.

Tammy Moore

 

Tammy Moore, 47, died Monday, April 4, 2011, at the University Hospital in Louisville.  She was the daughter of the late Billie Jean Corbin. 

She is survived by her husband: Doug Moore, Pleasureville; two daughters: Priscilla Jean Miller, Shelbyville and Jessica Moore, Bedford; one son: Douglas C. Moore, Frankfort; and father and stepmother: James and Brenda Gordon, Shelbyville. 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 7th, at Shannon Funeral Home in Shelbyville.  Rev. Jesse Baxter officiated.  Interment was in the Grove Hill Cemetery.

Robert William Morgan, Sr.

 

Robert William Morgan, Sr., 89, of Smithfield, died Friday, March 18, 2011, at his residence.  Son of the late Edgar and Emily Ruth Miller Morgan, he was a WWII Army Air Corps Veteran as a B-17 Aerial/Tail Gunner and Staff Sergeant.  Robert was a prisoner of war.  He was the recipient of five Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart of Valor.  He was also given the Fame Theater Ribbon, the American Theater Ribbon and the WWII Victory Medal.  Bob retired from the U.S. Postal Service after many years of being a rural mail carrier.  He was a member of the DAV, the KYIANA Chapter of the POW and the Smithfield Baptist Church. 

He is survived by his wife: Rose Marie Spears Morgan, Smithfield; three daughters: Roberta Marie Blakemore (Bob) and Bonnie Ruth Martin (Lavon), all of LaGrange, and Mechelle Annette Morgan-Flowers (Mike), Fort Defiance, AZ; three sons: Robert William Morgan, Jr.,(Regina), Indonesia, James Edgar Morgan (Diane), LaGrange, Peter Glenn Morgan (Sofie), Scottsdale, AZ; son-in-law: Darvin Sebastian, Waddy; two sisters: Ruth Dawkins, New Castle and Edna Tipton (Harold), Port Royal; sixteen grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by one daughter: Vicki Ann Sebastian. 

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 23rd, at the Prewitt New Castle Funeral

Home.  Rev. Robert Morgan, Jr. and Rev. Ed Life, Pastor of the Smithfield Church, officiated.

Anna Morrow

 

Anna “Ann” Elizabeth Samples Morrow, died Friday, February 25, 2011.  She was the daughter of the late Robert Leslie and Addie Lou Riddle Sample. 

She is survived by her daughter: Peg Jones, Morehead. 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 28, 2011, at Shannon Funeral Home, Shelbyville.  Rev. Michael Duncan, Pastor of Eminence Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Grove Hill Cemetery.

Ola Mae Mahoney

 

Ola Mae Miller Mahoney, 92, of Carrollton, died Thursday, April 8, 1993 at the Carroll County Memorial Hospital.  She was a housewife, a former assembly line worker at Rocketwood Factory, Charlestown, IN, and a member of the Worthville Baptist Church. 

She is survived by two daughters: Alma Mae Mahoney and Allene Lee, both of Carrollton; five sons: George, Lloyd B. and Charles Mahoney, all of Carrollton, and John and Coleman L. Mahoney, both of Worthville; two sisters: Marguerite Wilson, Cincinnati, OH and Pearl Johnson, Worthville; two brothers: Bernard Miller, Lexington and Bob Miller, Owenton; thirty-Three grandchildren; sixty great-grandchildren and nineteen great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Alford Mahoney, one daughter, five brothers and one sister. 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 12th at the Worthville Baptist Church.  Rev. Delbert Butts officiated.  Interment was in the IOOF Cemetery, Carrollton.  Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mamie “Nellie” McCane

 

Mamie “Nellie” McCane, 70, of Sulphur, died Friday, November 4, 2011.  She was retired from Homestead Nursing Center after working 32 years.  She was a member of the Sulphur Baptist Church.  She was the daughter of the late Sissy Taylor and George Grider. 

She is survived by her daughter: Kim McCane, Campbellsburg; son: Ricky McCane and wife Tammy, Goshen; two sisters: Pat Chapman, Sulphur and Kathy Bishop, Elkin, NV; three grandchildren: Jennifer, Amanda and Brittany; and two great- grandsons: Isaac and Evan.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert “Doc” McCane. 

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 8th, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Nick Coleman of Sulphur officiated.  Interment was in the Sulphur Cemetery.

Patricia McCarthy

 

Patricia Ann Lucas McCarthy, 64, of Shelbyville, died Monday, July 25, 2011, at Norton Hosparus Pavilion in Louisville.  She retired from Farm Credit Services as a customer service representative.  She was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church of Shelbyville and was the daughter of the late Virginia Jean Lafollette Lucas. 

She is survived by her husband: Larry McCarthy, Shelbyville; her daughter: Kimberly Ann McCarthy, Louisville; father: Charles T. Lucas and wife, Mary Jane, Eminence; one brother: Jackie Lucas, Eminence; and granddaughter: Devin Evola, Louisville. 

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 28th, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Mark Gibbons, Pastor of the Centenary United Methodist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Jack McLaughlin

 

Jack McLaughlin, 75, of Eminence, died Monday, April 12, 1993 at the Jefferson Manor Nursing Home, Louisville.  He was a native of Madison, IN, a WWII Army Veteran, a retired rural route carrier for 23 years and attended St. John’s Catholic Church. 

He is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Terry (Cathy) Nau, Franklin, TN and Mrs. Robert (Glen-Ellyn) Lewis, Frankfort; two sons: Michael and Joe McLaughlin, Both of Louisville; three sisters: Mrs. Evelyn Graves, LaJolla, CA,  Mrs. Bert ( Suzanne) Green and Mrs. Dave (Janet) Power, both of Greensburg, IN; and five grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Burshears McLaughlin.

A joint memorial service for Jack and Christine McLaughlin will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 16th, at the St. John’s Catholic Church, Eminence.  Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Eva C. McKee

 

Eva C. Bryant McKee, 89, of new Castle, died Friday, November 18, 2011, at Baptist hospital Northeast in LaGrange.  Daughter of the late Eddie Mack and Lillie Blackaby Bryant, Eva was formerly a member of the Henry County $-H Council and the late Henry County Homemakers.  She was a member of the Pleasureville United Methodist Church. 

She is survived by her daughter: Venedia M. Tingle and husband, Joe, New Castle; three grandsons and four great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband: Frank W. McKee and two sons: Charles Edward and Robert Earl McKee. 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 21st, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Dr. David Charlton, pastor of the Shelby Christian Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Phillip Ray McManis

 

Phillip Ray McManis, 68, of Port Royal, died Thursday, September 29, 2011, at Baptist Hospital Northeast in LaGrange.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Lily McManis, and his mother, Ruth Alice Willett McManis. 

He is survived by two daughters: Gayla McIntosh and husband, Matt, Turners Station and Bridgette Banta and husband, Chuck, Port Royal; his father: Joe Ray McManis, Turners Station; his companion: Marlene Willis, Port Royal; two brothers: Kevin McManis and wife, Mary, Turners Station, and Steve McManis and wife, Donna, Kent, IN; and six grandchildren: Erin McIntosh, Danielle Roberts, Kyle McIntosh, Devin McIntosh, Maggie Rae Banta and Jace Banta. 

Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 9th, at the Port Royal Cemetery.  Bro. Jeff Combs officiated.  Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Jerry McRay

 

Jerry Myron McRay, 73, of Shelbyville, died Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at the University of Louisville Hospital.  He was the son of the late Myron and Flora Riley McRay. 

He is survived by two daughters: Candice Craig and Carmen Michelle Price. 

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 23rd, at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home in Shelbyville.  Rev. Mike Dean officiated.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

John Meder

 

John “Red” Meder, 87, of Port Royal, died Tuesday, August 9, 2011.  He was the son of the late John and Eulah Belle Woods Meder, Sr. and a WWII Marine Veteran, receiving the Purple Heart for his courage and valor. 

He is survived by two daughters: Cheryl Chapman, Mt. Washington and Jinger Coffelt, Louisville; one step-daughter: Mary Hillard, Port Royal; three sons: Victor Meder, Longview, WA, Tom Meder and Bill Cox, both of Port Royal; and one step-son: B. J. Kelley, Louisville.

Graveswide services were held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 11th, at the Port Royal Cemetery.  Rev. Carl Rucker of Campbellsburg officiated.  Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Mayse Metts, 66, of Eminence, died Friday, August 12, 2011, at Baptist Hospital East.  She was the daughter of the late Martin Mayse. 

She is survived by her son: Martin Joe Metts, Eminence; one daughter: Tammy Jones, Pleasureville; and her mother: Thelma Marie Mayse, Eminence. 

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 16th, at the Eminence Baptist Church.  Rev. Michael Duncan officiated.  Interment was in the Smithfield Cemetery.  Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Velma Jean Pollock Mills, 85, of Murray, died Monday, July 25, 2011.  She was the daughter of the late Rev. Kirby and Ruth Philpot Pollock. 

She is survived by her children: Edwina Rowell, Campbellsville, Ruth Ann Mills-Moore, New Castle Eleanor Spry, Murray, and Steven Thomas Mills, Louisville. 

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 29th, at the Ekron Baptist Church.  J. H. Churchill Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Kay Chizue Morikawa Mitchell, 80, of Smithfield, died Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at Norton Hospital in Louisville. 

She is survived by her husband: Ed Mitchell, Smithfield; one daughter: Debbie Richeson, Smithfield; four sons: Randy Mitchell, New Castle, Bob Mitchell, Phoenix, AZ, Tim Mitchell, Gettysburg, PA and Jim Mitchell, Smithfield.

Robert William Morgan, Jr.

 

Robert William Morgan, Jr., 65, of Indonesia, died Thursday, July 14, 2011, in Singapore.  Robert was a native of Smithfield.  He served as a Southern Baptist pastor or staff person in Shelbyville, Hopkinsville and Benton, all in Kentucky and Garden City, MI; Huntsville, AL; Maitland, FL and Auxsburg, Germany.  He completed twenty-three years as a representative of the International Mission Board, SBC in Indonesia.  He was a member of the Kupang Baptist Church, NTT, Indonesia and the Smithfield Baptist Church.  He was the son of the late Robert Morgan, Sr. 

He is survived by his wife: Regina “Jeanne” Lee Miller Morgan, a native of Kentucky; daughter: Lisa Morgan Ashworth and husband Tony of White House, TN; son: Robert William Morgan III and wife, Rose, Villa Park, IL; three grandchildren: Timothy and Heather Baugh and Joshua Ashworth; mother: Rose Marie Spears Morgan, Smithfield; three sisters: Roberta Marie Blakemore and husband, Bob, LaGrange, Bonnie Ruth Martin and husband, Lavon, LaGrange and Michelle Annette Morgan Flowers and husband, Mike, Fort Defiance, AZ; two brothers: James Edgar Morgan and wife, Diane, LaGrange, and Peter Glenn Morgan and wife, Sofie, Scottsdale, AZ.  He was preceded in death by a younger sister, Vickie Morgan Sebastian. 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 24th, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Bro. Ed Life, Pastor of the Smithfield Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Smithfield Cemetery.

Danny Murray

 

Danny Samuel Murray, 34, of Lake City, formerly of Turners Station, died November 29, 2011. 

He is survived by his father: Paul Murray, Turners Station; mother: Erma Salisbury, Jeffers Lake City, TN; daughter: Kayleigh Murray, Campbellsburg; wife: Brandi Prewitt, Turners Station; and two stepchildren: Dakota and Gabrielle Prewitt, Eminence. 

Funeral services were held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2011, at Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg.

Robert Myers

 

Robert Phineas Myers, 82, died Saturday, November 19, 2011, at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville.  He was born February 16, 1929, to the late Phineas Barton and Kathryn Schaeffer Myers in Dayton, OH. 

He is survived by his children: Cathy Rasmussen and husband, Bill, Sandy Rodgers and husband, Sam, Chuck Myers and Robert Myers, Jr.; his grandchildren: Melissa Lahey (Todd), Brittany Nickerson and Julian Nickerson, Makenna Rodgers, Jesse and Drew Myers and Robbie and Jordan Myers; his great-grandchildren: Tobias Lahey and his sister: Susan Banthien.  He was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Barton Myers. 

Memorial services were 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 23rd at Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg.  Rev. Ferrell Davis officiated.
