A. J. Aldridge 

A. J. Aldridge, 81, familiarly known as Uncle Jack, died at his home at Turners Station, Friday, after an illness of several months.  He was a member of the Port Royal Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife and two sons, Scott Aldridge, South Bend, Indiana, and Victor Aldridge, of Port Royal; a sister, Mrs. Ida Devore, of Port Royal, and several grandchildren. 

Funeral services were conducted at the Port Royal Baptist Church, Sunday, with Rev. Carl Whirley officiating.  Burial was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

Edward Aldridge, Jr. 

Edward Aldridge, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Aldridge, died Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock in Lexington as he was being removed from their home to the hospital.  He had developed pneumonia. 

Funeral services were conducted this morning (Thursday) at the residence in Lexington at 10 o'clock. Burial was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.  Besides his parents the child is survived by three sisters; Alice, Agnea and Eugenia Aldridge.

John Aldridge 

John William Aldridge, 56 of Lockport, died Sunday, June 8th at the University Hospital, Louisville. 

He is survived by three sisters, Nellie Walker, Grafenburg, Katie Moore, and Sadie Aldridge, both of Eminence; two brothers, Everett Aldridge, Lockport and Lloyd Aldridge, Sanders. 

Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 10th at the Thomas Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Eugene Webster, pastor of the Gratz Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Wallace Cemetery, Lockport.

Joyce Aldridge 

Joyce Aldridge, age 62, of Bethlehem, formerly of Louisville, died Sunday, October 3, 2004 at Norton Healthcare Pavilion.  She was a former nurse's aide at Rockford Manor Nursing Home in Louisville. 

She is survived by her husband, Ernest Aldridge, Bethlehem; eight sons: Danny and David Maddox, both of Bethlehem; Kenny Maddox, Brandenburg; John Maddox, Mark Maddox and Chris Aldridge, all of Louisville; Dale Maddox and Michael Aldridge both of Eminence; three daughters: Rhonda Maddox, Brandenburg; Robin Martinez, New Albany; Angeleah Sheffield, Bethlehem; 48 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be today (Wednesday, October 6) at noon at J. B. Ratterman and Sons, Cane Run Road. Entombment will be in Louisville Memorial Gardens West.


Loyd Aldridge 

Loyd Aldridge, 76, died Wednesday, May 9th in Barberville. 

He was formerly of Lockport. 

He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Dillion (Sadie) Aldridge, Pleasureville, Mrs. Kitty Moore and Mrs. Millie Walker, both of Pleasureville; and one brother, Everett Aldridge, Lockport. 

Graveside services were held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 12th at the Wallace Cemetery, Lockport.  Rev. Eugene Webster, officiated. 

Thomas Funeral Home, Pleasureville, was in charge of arrangements.

Melvin Aldridge 

Melvin Aldridge, age 75, of Shelbyville died Friday, May 26, 2006 at the Masonic Home Shelbyville.  He was a native of Owen County, the son of the late Chester and Mary Ann Vest Aldridge, a Navy veteran of the Korean War, retired as credit manager at Belknap Inc., a member of Solomon Lodge No. 5, Free and Accepted Masons and Buffalo Lick Baptist Church. 

He is survived by his wife, Bobbie McCann Aldridge, Shelbyville; six brothers: Jasper Aldridge, Chillicothe, Ohio; Chester and Danny Aldridge, both of Eminence; Charlie Aldridge, Rock Falls, Illinois; Bobby Aldridge, Shelbyville; and Freddie Aldridge, Elizabethtown; two sisters: Margaret Wilborn and Judy Seeders, both of Shelbyville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister. 

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home, Shelbyville.  Rev. Rueal Boils, Rev. Paul Daulton and Rev. Jesse Baxter officiated.

Mrs. Prudie Aldridge 

Mrs. Prudie Combs Aldridge, 62, of Sulphur, died Wednesday, August 15th at the Humana Hospital University, Louisville.

She was a native of Perry County and a member of the Chavies Baptist Church in Perry County. 

She is survived by her husband, Alvin Aldridge, Sulphur; two sons, Walter (Bud) Combs, New Castle and Harold A. Aldridge, Sulphur; her father, Mr. Press Combs, Route 1, Pendleton; six sisters, Mrs. Richard (Helen) Duff, London, KY, Mrs. Bob (Hester) Abbott, Pendleton, Mrs. Sam (Martha) Abbott, Route 1, Pendleton, Mrs. Kermit (Margie) Williams, Owenton, Mrs. Willard (Ollie Sue) Perry, Owenton, and Mrs. Alice Goodrich, Gratz; four brothers, Ernest Combs, Jericho, Ottis Combs, Louisville, Hershel (Dub) Combs and Ceasor Combs, both of Owenton; one half-sister, Mrs. Steven (Ethel) Lynn, Louisville; four grandchildren and foru great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Friday, August 17th from Prewitt's New Castle. Rev. Nick Coleman, pastor of the Children of the King Church, Bedford, officiating. 

Interment was in the Point Pleasant Cemetery.

Thomas Aldridge 

Thomas E. Aldridge, age 58, of Shelbyville, formerly of Louisville, died Sunday, June 20, 2004 at University Hospital, Louisville, after a long illness.  He was a native of Henry County, an Air Force Vietnam veteran, the son of the late Charles E. and Edith Craig Aldridge, a retired heavy equipment construction operator and a member of Eminence United Methodist Church.

He is survived by one sister; Betsy C. Pettit, Eminence; one niece and one nephew, one ggreat-niece and one great-nephew.  He was preceded in death by one sister. 

The body was cremated.  A memorial service will be held today (Wednesday, June 23) at 1 p.m. at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Rev. Gary Polston, pastor of Eminence United Methodist Church, will officiate.  Interment will be in the Franklinton Cemetery.

William Aldridge 

William C. Aldridge, 43 of Pleasureville died Wednesday, June 17th at the Baptist East Hospital, Louisville. 

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Frances Marie (Hank) Aldridge, Cropper; one daughter, Miss Barbara Jean Aldridge, Cropper; one son, Perry Dwayne (Dutch) Aldridge, Cropper; two sisters Mrs. Martha Tingle, Pleasureville and Mrs. Josephine Brewer, Colliersville, Tennessee; three stepbrothers, Coleman Eldridge, Charles Eldridge and James A Eldridge, all of Pleasureville; two stepsisters, Mrs. Viola Maddox, Bethlehem and Mrs. Margaret Banta, Frankfort. 

Funeral services were held 4 p.m. Friday, June 19th at the Thomas Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Dr. Charles Teague, pastor of the Pleasureville Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Winford Aldridge 

Winford Aldridge, 75 of New Castle, died suddenly Thursday, June 5th at his residence.  He is survived by three sons, Henry Eldridge and Howard Eldridge, both of Route 1, Campbellsburg and Homer Eldridge, Pleasureville. 

Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Sunday, June 8th from Prewitt’s New Castle. Dr. Clayton Klingenfus, pastor of the New Castle Christian Church, officiated. Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Woodford Aldridge 

Woodford Aldridge, 71, of Lockport, died Tuesday, January 22nd at the Kings Daughter's Hospital, Shelbyville. 

He is survived by three brothers, Emery Aldridge, Pleasureville; Carl Aldridge, Eminence and Forest Aldridge, Lockport; one sister, Miss Bernice Aldridge, Shelbyville; Several nieces and nephews.

Thomas F. Cox

Thomas F. COX, age 88 of Fairfield passed away Monday July 31, 2006 at Jewish Hospital-Kenwood. 

He was born November 10, 1917 in Campbellsburg, KY, the son Owen and Marie (Haggard) Cox. On June 7, 1941 Tom married June R. Burke in Cincinnati, OH. He served his country during WWII in the US Army where he was a recipient of many decorations and citations. Mr. Cox retired from Standard Publishing, Mt. Healthy in 1982. Tom was a founding member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, lifetime member of VFW #1069, and Father Roetelle Council Knights of Columbus. 

Tom is survived by his children, Thomas M. (Rebecca) Cox, Judith M. (David) Huddleson, Joyce E. (Randal) Thomas, and Jeanette E. Hoskins; grandchildren, David M. Huddleson, Michael D. Huddleson, Christopher R. Thomas, Stephanie N. Thomas, Katharine D. Cox, Thomas W. Cox, Emily R. Hoskins, Erin E. Hoskins; great-grandchildren, Luke R. Thomas; and sister, Martha J. Cox. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, June R. Cox; and 5 brothers. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Friday August 4, 2006 at Sacred Heart Church, 400 Niles Rd., Fairfield with Father Larry Tharp, Celebrant. 

Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven.

Elton Allen 

Elton Brown Allen, 89 of Route 1, Sulphur, died Monday, March 14th at Friendship Manor Nursing Home, Pewee Valley. 

He was formerly of St. Clara, Missouri; a retired farmer; member of St James Masonic Lodge, St. James, Missouri; and member of St. James Methodist Church in Missouri. 

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Tom Jerry (Martha) Smith, Route 1 Sulphur; and one grandson, Thomas Allen Smith, Louisville. 

Graveside services were held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 16th at the Sulphur Cemetery.  Rev. Kenneth Armstrong, pastor of the Eminence Presbyterian Church, officiated.  Prewitt's Funeral Home, New Castle, was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Daisy Allen 

The funeral for Mrs. Daisy Adele Gardner Allen, 62 of Shelbyville, was held at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home in Shelbyville, at 11 a.m. Saturday. 

Interment was in the Shady Lawn Cemetery. 

Mrs. Allen was a native of Henry County and a member of the Christ Ambassador Church. 

She is survived by her husband, Robert Allen, Shelbyville; two sisters, Mrs. Josephine Deakins, Eminence and Mrs. Ruth Wilson, Turners Station. 

Rev. Ted Shouse, officiated.


Mrs. Grace Allen 

Mrs. Grace Garland Allen, 92 of Jericho, died Friday, October 2nd at the residence of her son in Jericho.  She was a member of the Smithfield Baptist Church. 

She is survived by one son, Paul Allen, Jericho; one daughter, Mrs. Grace Aline Huff, Louisville; and Mr. C. Brown Allen, Louisville; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild. 

Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Monday, October 5th at the Ricketts Funeral Home, Eminence.  Rev. Ron Doss and Doug Carber of the Smithfield Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Smithfield Cemetery.

Robert Allen 

Mr. Robert 'Bob' Allen, 57, of LaGrange, died Tuesday, April 9 in the Baptist East Hospital, Louisville, after a brief illness. 

He was a native of Oldham County; a retired employee of the old Anita Springs Water Company in LaGrange; a member of the Booster Club in LaGrange; served for a short time on the LaGrange Fire and Rescue Squad; attended the Kynett Methodist Church, LaGrange; and was an active member of the Mystified Twelve Club. 

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jean Rose Allen, LaGrange; three sons, Robert L. Allen, Jr., Louisville, Ronald E. Allen and Jerry D. Allen, both of LaGrange; two stepsons, Kent L. Allen and Lynn Allen, both of LaGrange; four daughters, Connie M. Allen and Barbara Ann Allen, both of LaGrange; Tanga D. Allen (E4 U.S. Army), Colorado Springs, Colorado and Alfreda Beaumont, LaGrange; five brothers, Lloyd Allen, LaGrange, Joe Allen, New Castle, Raymond Allen, Louisville, Howard Allen and Ed Allen, both of LaGrange; one sister, Mrs. Cecil Hyman, Sacramento, California; and six grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 13  in the Radcliffe Funeral Home, LaGrange.  Reverend Harold Henson, officiated. 

Interment was in the Valley of Rest Cemetery, LaGrange.

Ben T. Allan 

Ben T. Allan, who was born and reared in the Sulphur community, and known as Louisville's shabby bachelor, died last week and the Louisville Times (newspaper) carried the following excellent feature story about the man who spent little and left a fortune of $175,000. 

With him he took the reasons he led a lonely secluded life in out-of-the-way hotel rooms while he piled up cash and securities in the bank. 

Allan, a little man with thin white hair and a clipped white mustache, died last Thursday a few minutes after he left the Normandy Hotel, 111 N. Seventh, where he had lived since last August.  He collapsed on the sidewalk, a block from the hotel as he started to walk to Fourth Street to get a meal.

Harold D. Alsup 

Harold D. Alsup, 78, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2005. 

Harold, born in Sanders, Kentucky, having served in World War II.  He was a deacon of Milton (KY) Baptist Church, a member of Bedford Loan and Deposit board of directors, a retired farmer and a former Trimble County (KY) magistrate. 

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Billie Shimfessel Alsup; one daughter, Jan Joyce of Trimble County; sons, Jon Alsup of Milton and Rodney Alsupo of Atlanta, Georgia; six grandchildren, Gretchen Mansfield of Evansville, Indiana, Matthew Joyce of Lexington, Kentucky, Christopher Joyce of Trimble County, Mason Alsup of Carrollton, Kentucky and Heather and Josh Alsup of Milton; great-grandchild, Kaitlyn Mansfield of Evansville; and two sisters, Dorothy Barnett of New Castle, Kentucky and Louise Somers of Evansville.

His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday February 21, 2005, at Milton Baptist Church.  Visitation will be held from 2-9 p.m. Sunday, February 20, 2005, and 10 a.m.-noon Monday at Ransdell Funeral Home, Bedford.

William L. Ambrose 

William L. Ambrose, 67, died at 10:30 Tuesday morning at his home near Pleasureville. 

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Isasine Bell Ambrose; one daughter, Mrs. W. E. Davis, of Eminence; two grandchildren; three brothers, Robert and Jake Ambrose of Louisville, and George Ambrose , of Boston. 

Funeral services were conducted at the Pleasureville Cemetery at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon.  Burial was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Dee Rice Amyx 

Dee Rice Amyx, age 94, of Port Royal died Saturday, July 3, 2004 at her residence.  She was a native of Berkeley, California, the daughter of the late Salem Jewell and Matilda Wegner Rice and a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church, Lexington. 

She is survived by one daughter, Tanya Berry, and her husband Wendell Berry, Port Royal; one brother , Charles Rice, Elon, North Carolina; grandchildren Mary and Chuck Smith and Den and Billie Berry of Henry County, and five great-grandchildren; Katie Jean Smith, Virginia Dee Smith, Tanya Christine Smith, Emily Rose Berry and Marshall Amyx Berry, all of Henry County.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Amyx. 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 6 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Carl Rucker, pastor of Port Royal Baptist Church, Rev. Cynthia Cain, pastor of Lexington Unitarian Universalist Church, and Dr. David Charlton, pastor of  New Castle First Baptist Church officiated.  Interment was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

Jessie Arington 

Jessie Gilbert Arington, age 81 of Eminence, died Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville.  Hw was a truck driver, World War II U. S. Army Veteran, member of the Cropper Baptist Church, and retired Teamsters Local 89. 

He is survived by four sons: Randy Arington and Mike Arington, both of Shelbyville; Davy Arington, Eminence; Kenny Arington, Murray; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Mae Yeary Arington. 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 28 at Shannon Funeral Home in Shelbyville.  Rev. Mike Duncan and Rev. Bill Brumley officiated.  Interment was in Grove Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville.

Sherley Arington 

Sherley Agnes Taylor Arington, age 92, of Smithfield, died Saturday, April 16, 2005 at Baptist Hospital Northeast.  She was a homemaker, member of Sligo Baptist Church, and daughter of the late Robert and Birdie Morgan Taylor. 

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Welburn (Joyce) Kephart, Prospect; one son, Wilbur Taylor Arington, Smithfield; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Tandy Arington, two brothers, and one granddaughter. 

Funerals services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 19 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Nick Coleman of Sulphur officiated.  Interment was in Sligo Cemetery.

Mrs. Katherine Armstrong 

Mrs. Katherine Armstrong, 61 of Shelbyville, died Sunday, November 8th at the King's Daughters Hospital, Shelbyville.  She was a member of the Beech Ridge Baptist Church. 

She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Mary Ann) Tindle and Miss Judy Armstrong, both of Eminence, Mrs. William (Gladys) Sea and Mrs. Patsy Jean Martin, both of Shelbyville; three sons, Henry Thomas Armstrong, Paul Dwayne Armstrong and Bobby Joe Armstrong, all of Shelbyville; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Baxter, Route 1, Turners Station; four sisters, Mrs. Leonard ( Lillian) Wilson, Eminence, Mrs. Blanche Adler and Mrs. Cecil (Lucy) Quire, both of Pleasureville and Mrs. David (Susie) Payton, Turners Station; three brothers, Dennis Baxter, Campbellsburg, Harevey Baxter, Jr., Smithfield and Everett Baxter, Turners Station; 19 grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and 5 step-grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 10th from Prewitt's New Castle.  Rev. Dickson Sutherland, pastor of the Port Royal Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Defoe Cemetery.

Sherman Armstrong 

Sherman Armstrong, 96, of Eminence, died Tuesday, February 21 at the Suburban Hospital, Louisville. 

He was a retired barber and a member of the First Baptist Church, Eminence. 

He is survived by eight granddaughters; two grandsons; thirty great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 25th at the Ricketts Funeral Home, Eminence.  Dr. W. H. Goatley, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiated. 

Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Thomas H. Arnett 

Thomas H. Arnett, 54, of Pendleton, KY, died Wednesday, January 26, 2005, at King's Daughters Hospital in Madison, IN. 

He was retired from Swift and Company with 30 years of service. 

He is survived by his wife, the former Glinda Gale Pruitt; a son, Kevin Housley (Kelly); a daughter, Tamara Collett (Greg);

Six grandchildren, Joshua, Nathan, Matthew and Emily 'BooBoo' Housley and Conner 'Wiggles' and Kalee Collett; and two sisters, Faye Barnes and Nellie Underwood. 

His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Stoess Funeral Home in Crestwood, with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens-East.

Charles Ed Arnold 

Mr. Charles Ed Arnold, 71, of New Castle, died Saturday, November 30 at the Homestead Nursing Center, New Castle. 

He was a retired car salesman, and attended the New Castle United Methodist Church. 

He is survived by one stepson, Mr. Harry Mitchell, New Castle; one step-grandson, Mark Mitchell, New Castle; several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Monday, December 2 from Prewitt's, New Castle.  Rev. Barclay Brown, pastor of the New Castle United Methodist Church, officiated. 

Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Mrs. Mary Arnold 

Mrs. Mary Louise Willhite Arnold, 53, of Ft. Myers, Florida, died Monday, July 23rd in Ft. Myers. 

She was formerly of Eminence. 

She is survived by her husband, William E. Arnold, Ft. Myers, Florida; one son, Bradley Arnold, Lake Charles, Louisiana; one daughter, Jane Haviland, Long Beach, California; her father, Howard (Pete) Willhite, Shelbyville; one brother, Ernest T. Willhite, Huntsville, Alabama; two sisters, Mrs. Norma Brock, Louisville, Louisville and Mrs. Vickie Graybeal, Shelbyville; and one grandchild. 

Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 26th at the Ricketts Funeral Home, Eminence.  Rev. Ken Armstrong, pastor of the Eminence Presbyterian Church, officiated. 

Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.
