Rhelda J. Howard Ladd

 

Rhelds J. Howard Ladd, 71, of New Haven, KY, passed away Friday, January 28, 2005, at her home.  She was the former Rhelda Bruce, a native of Henry County and a Baptist by faith.

 

She is survived by her husband: Clarence Ladd, daughters: Donna Sue Murphy and Linda Cushing; a step-daughter: Karen Ladd; brothers: Charles and Michael Bruce and grandchildren: Ashley, Preston, Caitlin and Dennis.

 

Cremation of the remains was chosen.  A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Arch L. Heady & Son, Louisville.

Eddie LaFollette

 

Eddie LaFollette, 91, died Wednesday, January 27, 1988, at the Friendship Manor, Pewee Valley.  He was a retired farmer, a native of Owen County and a member of the Campbellsburg Christian Church.

 

He is survived by one son: Calvin LaFollette, Simpsonville; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Gertrude Robin and Mary Cox, both of Frankfort.

 

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday at the Shannon Funeral Home, Shelbyville.  Rev. Tom Kinman officiated.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Junior LaFollette

 

Junior F. LaFollette, age 79 of Eminence, died Monday, May 29, 2006.  He was the son of the late J. F. and Susie Adams LaFollette and a farmer.  He formerly worked for General Electric and was a U. S. Army Veteran.

 

He is survived by one daughter: Vickie LaFollette, Radcliff; two sons: Michael W. LaFollette, Elmburg and Larry Allen LaFollette, Eminence; two sisters: Lula Adams, New Castle and Thelma Bolini, Florida; companion: Doris Beller, Eminence; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Lee Jennings LaFollette and Daughter, Teresa LaFollette.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 1 at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Rev. Michael Duncan, pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Shady Lawn Cemetery, Shelby County.

Roberta Lee Jennings LaFollette

 

Roberta Lee Jennings LaFollette, age 76 of Eminence, died Monday, June 28, 2004, at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville.  She was the daughter of the late Herbert Lee and Ida Pearl Craigmyle Jennings and a member of the Berea Christian Church.

 

She is survived by her husband: Junior F. LaFollette, Eminence; two daughters: Vickie LaFollette, Radcliff and Teresa LaFollette, Eminence; two sons: Michael W. LaFollette, Elmburg and Larry Allen LaFollette, Eminence; one sister: Shirley Ayres, Eminence; and one brother: John Wesley Jennings, Biloxi, Mississippi.

 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 1 at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Rev. Gary Polston, pastor of the Eminence United Methodist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Shady Lawn Cemetery, Shelby County.

Teresa LaFollette

 

Teresa Ann LaFollette, age 44, of Eminence, died Monday, April 25, 2005 at Jewish Hospital, Louisville due to an aneurysm.  She was the daughter of the late Roberta Lee Jennings LaFollette.

 

She is survived by her father: Junior LaFollette, Eminence; one sister: Vickie LaFollette, Radcliff; and two brothers: Michael W. LaFollette, Elmburg and Larry Allen LaFollette, Eminence.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 28 at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Rev. Michael Duncan, pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in Shady Lawn Cemetery, Shelby County.

William Frank LaFollette

 

Mr. William Frank LaFollette, 95, of Eminence, died Friday, February 8, 1985, at the King’s Daughters Hospital, Shelbyville.  He was a retired farmer and a member of the First Pentecostal Church of Eminence.

 

He is survived by four sons: Ray LaFollette, Shelbyville, Dee LaFollette, Clarence LaFollette and Jay LaFollette, all of Eminence; One daughter: Mrs. Ella Mae Long, Eminence; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; one brother: Ed LaFollette, Simpsonville; and three sisters: Mrs. Minnie Harris, eminence and Mrs. Gertruda Robin and Mrs. Mary Cox, both of Eminence.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 10th at the Ricketts Funeral Home, Eminence.  Rev. Michael Duncan and Rev. Louis Edday officiated.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Benjamin I. LaMaster

 

Benjamin I. LaMaster, 88, Campbellsburg, prominent farmer and landowner, died Friday at Shady Grove Sanitarium, Eminence, where he had been a patient for several months.  Mr. LaMaster was a member of the Campbellsburg Christian Church and served as an Elder for twenty-one years.  He also taught a Sunday School class for a number of years.  He was very progressive in his ideas pertaining to farming and when actively engaged in farming he served as chairman of the Farm Security Administration Henry County Committee.

 

He is survived by two sons: Paul LaMaster, Clemson, South Carolina and Orem LaMaster, Leitchfield; four granddaughters: Jane LaMaster, Clemson, S. C., Mrs. Roy Hixson, Baltimore, Mrs. John Barnett, Bagdad and Jeanne LaMaster, a student at the University of Kentucky.  He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday at McCarty Funeral Home, Campbellsburg.  Dr. Thomas Giltner, pastor of the Douglas Blvd. Christian Church, Louisville, officiated.  Interment was in the Campbellsburg Cemetery.

Betsy LaMaster

 

Mrs. Betsy LaMaster, 60 of Shelbyville, died Friday, June 5, 1981, at the King’s Daughters Hospital, Shelbyville.  She was a native of Henry County, a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Shelbyville, and a retired teacher from the Commerce Department of Shelby County High School, 1974.

 

She is survived by two sons: Herndon Ellis, Jr., Shelbyville, and Jess L. Ellis, Louisville; one sister: Mrs. Mary Kay Hornbach, Elizabethtown, PA; and four grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Shannon Funeral Home, Shelbyville.  Rev. Gayle Threlkeld officiated.  Interment was in the Grove Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville.

J. T. LaMaster

 

J. T. LaMaster, 68 years old, died at his home in Campbellsburg, Monday night from Double pneumonia.  He had lived practically all of his life in Campbellsburg.  He is survived by his wife: Mrs. Fanny LaMaster; two daughters: Miss Lillian LaMaster and Mrs. Mattie Lee Gordon, both of Akron, Ohio; two sons: John Slater LaMaster, New York and Charles LaMaster, LaGrange; two brothers: Owen LaMaster, Campbellsburg and Mack LaMaster, New Castle; and one sister: Mrs. Mattie Lee Pyles, LaGrange.

Jess S. LaMaster

 

Jess S. LaMaster, 66 Shelbyville, died unexpectedly of a heart ailment at 2 a.m. last Wednesday at his home.  He was a retired farmer and employee of the State Highway Department, which he served 24 years as a district supervisor.  Mr. LaMaster was a native of New Castle, was a son of the late Zach and Minnie Caplinger LaMaster.  He was a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church, Shelbyville.

 

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Orpha Crabb LaMaster; teo daughters: Mrs. Herndon Ellis, Shelbyville and Mrs. William Hornback, Indianapolis; two sisters: Mrs. Lucy Smith, Frankfort, former State Park Director and Mrs. Edna Haydon, Eminence; two brothers: Arnett LaMaster, Sr., New Castle and B. F. LaMaster, Louisville.

 

Funeral services were conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday at Shannon Funeral Home, Shelbyville.  Dr. G. A. Daniels officiated.  Interment was in the Grove Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville.

Nancy LaMaster

 

Mrs. Nancy Bartlett Tandy LaMaster, age 99, of Shelbyville, died Saturday, July 8, 1995, at Shelby Manor Health Center.  She was a native of Carroll County, a homemaker, a graduate of Hamilton College and a member of the Eminence Christian Church.

 

She is survived by three daughters: Mary LaMaster Hixson, Nashville, Nancy LaMaster Barnett, Bagdad and Jean LaMaster Gayle, Frankfort; seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. 

 

A Graveside ceremony was held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday July 11th at the Campbellsburg Cemetery.  Rev. Thomas Page and Dr. Mark Potts officiated.

Taylor LaMaster

 

Taylor W. LaMaster, 97 of Carrollton, died Monday, September 12, 1983 at the Baptist East Hospital, Louisville.  He was a native of Turners Station, where he farmed until he retired.  After retirement, he worked for Marshall Harris Tobacco Warehouse Company in Carrollton until 1978.

 

He is survived by two nieces: Mrs. Martha Godbey and Mrs. Virginia Cambron, both of Louisville; a nephew: Homer LaMaster; a step-daughter: Helen Sturgeon, Turners Station and a great-niece: Martha Lee Ferrel.

 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 14th at Ratterman’s, St. Matthews.  Rev. Tom Conway officiated.  Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery.

Mrs. Zach LaMaster

 

Mrs. Zach LaMaster, 84, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edna Haydon, in Eminence at 10 p.m. Friday following a long illness.  She was the widow of the late Zach LaMaster, prominent Henry County farmer.

 

She is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Haydon and Mrs. Lucy L. Smith, both of Eminence; three sons: Arnett LaMaster, New Castle, Jess LaMaster, Shelbyville and B. F. LaMaster, Louisville; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were conducted at Ricketts Funeral Home, Eminence at 2 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Elgin T. Smith, pastor of the Eminence Christian Church, officiating.  Burial was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Mrs. Bessie C. Lancaster, 93 of Pleasureville, died Tuesday, September 20, 1983, at her residence. 

 

She is survived by one daughter: Mrs. Charlsie Wood, Pleasureville; two sons: Otto Lancaster, Pleasureville and James A. Lancaster, Indianapolis; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and two sisters: Mrs. Fannie Sand, Tacoma, Washington and Mrs. Margaret Redding, Eminence.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 22nd at the Thomas Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Richard Carlton officiated.  Interment was in the Owneton Cemetery.

Otto Lancaster, 68 of Pleasureville, died Wednesday, October 26, 1983 at the King’s Daughters Hospital, Shelbyville.

 

He is survived by one son: James L. Lancaster, Hendersonville, North Carolina; one daughter: Mrs. Judy Roberts, Hendersonville, North Carolina; six grandchildren; one sister: Mrs. Charlsie Wood, Pleasureville; and one brother: James Lancaster, Indianapolis.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 29th at the Thomas Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Chris Franklin officiated.  Interment was in the Owenton Cemetery.

Joseph E. Land, 77 of Eminence, died March 19, 1978 at the home os his daughter, Mrs. Douglas Payton, Eminence.

 

Survivors are two sons: John and Joe W. Land, both of Eminence; two daughters: Mrs. Catherine Reynolds and Mrs. Beulah “Bootie” Payton, both of Eminence; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; two brothers; W. T. Land, Harlan, KY and Paul W. Land, Eminence and one sister: Mrs. Earl Jewell, Lexington.

 

Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Ricketts Funeral Home, eminence with Rev. Stan Chaney, pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, officiating.  Burial was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Paul Land

 

Paul W. Land, 85 of Eminence, died Thursday, September 8, 1983, at the King’s Daughters Hospital, Shelbyville.  He was a member of the Eminence Baptist Church, serving as deacon, a retired Dodge Dealer for 37 years, a member of the Eminence Odd Fellows Lodge, a member of the Eminence School Board for 26 years, serving as chairman for 20 years, and a veteran of WWI.

 

He is survived by one son, William Leslie Land, Eminence; two daughters: Mrs. Louise Bloss, Blacksburg, Virginia and Mrs. Helen Smither, Frankfort; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one brother: W. T. Land, Jr. Harlan, KY.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 10th at the Ricketts Funeral Home, Eminence.  Rev. Michael Duncan, pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Mrs. Sarah Catherine Land, 84, widow of W. T. Land, died unexpectedly at her home in Eminence.

 

She is survived by five daughters: Mrs. Cora Schooler, Eminence, Mrs. Beulah Brumback, Mrs. E. E. Lighter and Mrs. Cleo Barrickman, Harlan and Mrs. Earl Jewell, Lexington; four sons: Paul and Joe Land, both of Eminence, J. M. Land, Louisville and W. T. Land, Harlan; one brother: J. W. Harlow, Bagdad; twenty-two grandchildren and thirty-two great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ricketts Funeral Home, Eminence.  Rev. Hal Marchman, pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, where she was a member, officiated.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Susie Landers

 

Mrs. Susie T. Landers, 86 of Eminence, died Thursday, March 17, 1983, in Louisville.  She was formerly of Cropper and a member of the Cropper Christian Church.

 

She is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Floyd (Mary Gladys) Tipton, Pendleton, Mrs. G. W. (Louise) Adcock, Eminence and Mrs. Martha Gayle Baker, Hopkinsville; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and one brother: Russell Tipton, Cropper.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 21st at the Cropper Christian Church.  Rev. John Brand, pastor of the Eminence Christian Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. Marty Fields.  Interment was in the Cropper Cemetery.

Juanita Lashley

 

Juanita Lurline Lashley, age 74, of Eminence, died Friday, February 4, 2005, at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, Shelbyville, a homemaker and the daughter of the late Jesse and Edith Batterton Raisor.

 

She is survived by her husband: Ellis Marvin Lashley, Eminence; three sons: Todd Wadsworth, Eminence, Mark Wadsworth, California and Robert Talley, Louisville; three step-daughters: Shonna Hopper, Louisville, Sherry Hopper, Mt. Washington and Melinda Lashley, Shelbyville; two brothers: Clay Raisor, Shelbyville and Robert Raisor, Eminence; four sisters: Barbara Owens, Smithfield, Jessie Marie Covington, and Amanda Caldwell, both of New Castle and Brenda Kelley, Campbellsburg; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by one brother.

 

Funeral services were held at noon on Monday, February 7, 2005 at the New Hope Baptist Church.  Rev. Don Waterfill, pastor of the New Hope Baptist Church, officiated.  Burial was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Laura Gayle Lawrence, 24, of Route 1, Campbellsburg, died Sunday, August 25, 1985 at the Milwakee County Medical Complex Hospital.

 

She is survived by her husband: Charles Douglas Lawrence, Route 1, Campbellsburg; her mother: Mrs. Emma J. Davidson, Louisville; two sisters: Mrs. Terry McCarty, Campbellsburg and Mrs. Pam Irwin, LaGrange.

 

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Barnett-Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg.  Rev. Carl Rucker will officiate.  Interment will be in the New Castle Cemetery.

Claude Lawson

 

Claude Lawson, 85 of Eminence, died Thursday, June 1, 1978 at the King’s Daughters Home for the Aged, Shelbyville.

 

Survivors are one foster son: Roy S. Smith, Shelbyville; two brothers: George Henry Lawson, Louisville and Luther Lawson, Eminence and several nieces and nephews.

 

Services were held at 1 p.m. on June 5th at the First Baptist Church, Eminence, with Rev. W. H. Goatley, pastor, officiating. Arrangements were made by Saffell Funeral Home, Shelbyville.  Burial was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Keith Lawson

 

Keith “Tiny” Houston Lawson, age 47, of Shelbyville, died Saturday, September 25, 2004, at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  He was the son of the late Christine Woods Lawson, employed at a distillery, a member of the AFL/CIO and the Campbellsburg Second Baptist Church where he served as chairman of the deacon board.

 

He is survived by his wife: Beverly Marie Lawson, Shelbyville; his father: Horace Keith Lawson; two sons: Keith Lamont Marshall, Frankfort and Keith George Jones, Shelbyville; one step-son: Loyal “Shawn” Jones; one daughter: Christine Marshall, Louisville; two brothers: Paul Wayne Lawson and Michael Eugene Allen Lawson; one sister: Pamela Ann Lawson Black and three grandchildren.

 

Services will be today (Wednesday, September 29th) at 11 a.m. at the Campbellsburg Second Baptist Church with Rev. E. B. Higgins officiating.  Interment will be in the Grove Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville.

Rodney Laymon

 

Rodney Thurman Laymon, 54, of Parkway Medical Center, Louisville, died Friday, November 8, 1985, at the Highland Baptist Hospital, Louisville.  He was a native of Daviess County.

 

He is survived by his mother: Mrs. Trilba Mae Patrick, Homestead Nursing Center, New Castle; three sons: Michael Laymon, Texas, Rod Allen Laymon, Frankfort and Larry Laymon, Lexington; two daughters: Miss Jennifer Laymon and Miss Nancy Laymon, both of Lexington; three brothers: James Thomas Laymon, Louisville, William P. Laymon, Florida and Paul Joseph Laymon, Louisville; three sisters: Mrs. Ruby Logsdon and Mrs. Alice Crabtree, both of Louisville and Mrs. Margaret Brown, Turners Station; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 9th at the Barnett-Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg.  Rev. Paul Perry officiated.  Interment was in the Turners Station Cemetery.

Harry Leatherman

 

Harry A. Leatherman, age 89 of Port Royal, died Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  He was a retired fireman, a member of the Port Royal United Methodist Church and the son of the late Shell and Bessie Leathermen.

 

He is survived by a friend, Margie Leatherman of Port Royal.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 3rd at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Ron Laughlin, pastor of the Port Royal United Methodist Church officiated.  Interment was in the Moffet Cemetery, Milton.

Bernard G. Lee

 

Mr. Bernard G. Lee, 62, of Route 1, Gratz, died suddenly Friday, January 4, 1985, at his residence.  He was a native of Shelby County, formerly of Bethlehem, a farmer, an Army Veteran of WWII and a member of the Cropper Baptist Church.

 

He is survived by one daughter: Miss Deanna Lee, Route 1, Sulphur; three sons: James W. Lee, Route 2, Pleasureville, Rodney Lee, Gratz and John Lee, Route 1, Sulphur; one sister: Mrs. Gladys Sullivan, Lebanon Junction; two brothers: Averitt Lee and Leonard Lee, both of Frankfort and two grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 7th from Prewitt’s, New Castle.  Rev. Eugene Webster, pastor of the Gratz Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Sulphur Cemetery.

Deanna K. “D.” Lee, age 38 of Pleasureville, died Wednesday, January 11, 2006, in her home.  She attended the Pleasureville Baptist Church and was the daughter of the late Bernard G. Lee.

 

She is survived by her mother: Pearl Lee, Pendleton; step-father: William H. Moore, Pendleton; three brothers: James W. Lee, Bethlehem, Rodney C. Lee, Franklinton and John G. Lee, Port Royal and several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 16th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Jerry Anderson, pastor of Pleasureville Baptist Church, and Rev. Nick Coleman, Sulphur, officiated.  Interment was in the Sulphur Cemetery.

Dorothy Lee

 

Mrs. Dorothy Elizabeth Lee, age 83, of Pleasureville, died Thursday, February 13, 1992, at the Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  She was a member of the Pleasureville United Methodist Church and a homemaker.  Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Lee.

 

Survivors include one daughter: Frieda Lee Kelley, Pleasureville; one granddaughter: Mrs. Larry (Patty) Watts and one grandson: Staff Sgt. Gary L. Kelley; two great-grandchildren: Kelley LeeAnn Watts and Michael Keith Watts; one sister-in-law: Beatrice Phillips, Crestwood.

 

Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 16th at Sholar-Thomas Funeral Home.  Rev. Garnett Slone, New Castle Methodist Church, officiated.  Burial was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Carl R. Leeper

 

Mr. Carl R. Leeper, 74, of Route 1, Pleasureville, died suddenly on Thursday, October 4, 1984.  He was a native of Marion, Ohio, formerly of Mansfield, Ohio, an Army Veteran of WWII and a retired employee of General Motors, Dayton, Ohio.

 

He is survived by one daughter: Mrs. Howard (Deborah) Gulstad, Elk River, Minnesota; and one son: Leslie Leeper, San Diego, California.

 

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, October 8th at the New Castle Cemetery.  Dr. Clayton Klingenfus, pastor of the New Castle Christian Church, officiated.  Prewiit Funeral Home, New Castle, was in charge of arrangements.

Lucy Leet

 

Mrs. Lucy Stewart Leet, age 89, of New Castle, died Tuesday, March 7, 1995, at the Meadow View Convalescent Center, Louisville.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church, new Castle, for 60 years. 

 

She is survived by one son: Avery Price Leet, New Castle; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.  She was preceded in death by her husband: John Price Leet.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 11th, at The Prewitt Funeral Home, New Castle.  Dr. David Charlton, pastor of the First Baptist Church, New Castle, officiated.  Interment was in the Valley of Rest Cemetery, LaGrange.

Ruby Moore Lefner

 

Ruby Moore Lefner, age 82 of Eminence, passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2001, in Shelbyville.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, William R. “Bill” Lefner

 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2001 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Dr. David Charlton, pastor of the New Castle First Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Curtis Leitch

 

Curtis E. Leitch, 73, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, died Wednesday, May 31, 1984, at his home.  He was a native of Henry County, a retired boat master and pilot for the Corps of Engineers, a member of Masonic Lodge #470 and an active member of the Wall Street United Methodist Church.

 

He is survived by his wife: the former Margie Tarry; two sons: Frank L. Leitch, West Palm Beach, Florida and James C. Leitch, Jeffersonville, Indiana; two daughters: Deborah Fleeman, Evansville, Indiana and Becky Gray, West Palm Beach, Florida; one sister: Anna Mae Harper, New Castle and three grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 2nd at the Wall Street Methodist Church.  Rev. Jerry Hyde officiated.  Interment was in the Walnut Ridge Cemetery.

Alden Lewis

 

Alden M. Lewis, 65, of Eminence, died Thursday, April 11, 1983 at the VA Hospital, Louisville.  He was a member of the Eminence Christian Church, a retired Navy Lieutenant serving in WWII, a member of the Eminence Lodge F & AM, former postmaster of Eminence and a retired school teacher.

 

He is survived by two sons: James Lewis, Eminence and Dr. John A. Lewis, Lexington; three grandchildren and three brothers: Garlan Lewis and Gordon Lewis, both of Louisville and Dr. H. B. Lewis, Louisa, KY.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 14th at the Ricketts Funeral Home, Eminence.  Rev. John Brand officiated.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Craig Lewis

 

Craig Lewis, age 51 of Pleasureville, died Sunday October 30, 2005, at the VA Hospital, Louisville. 

 

He is survived by his wife: Kayla Lewis, Carrollton; mother: Thelma Jones, Port Royal; three step-daughters: Mrs. Joseph (Tammy) Evans, Turners Station, Mrs. Russell (Michelle) Walls, Campbellsburg and Debbie Price, Pleasureville; three step-sons: Jeremy Cole, Carrollton, Logan Price, Pendleton and Vincent Price, Michigan City, Indiana; two sisters: Marsha Legg, Drennon and Verna Jones, LaGrange; two brothers: Bruce Jones, Toney, Alabama and Brent Jones, Frankfort and twelve step-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday, November 2nd) at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Port Royal Cemetery.

Dora Lewis

 

Mrs. Dora Sparrow Lewis, 67 of Pleasureville, died Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the King’s Daughters Hospital, Shelbyville.  She was a member of a Pentecostal Church.

 

She is survived by her husband: James B. Lewis, Pleasureville; one daughter: Mrs. Anna Mae House, Pleasureville; three sons: Forrest Brown, Jr., Chaplin, Paul Brown, Eminence and John Frazier, New Castle; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; three sisters: Mrs. Ruby Brown, Shelbyville, Mrs. Corine Cook, Lawrenceburg and Mrs. Lucille Barnett, Siani; one brother: Thomas Sparrow, Louisville; six step-daughters: Mrs. Carol Harrod, Frankfort, Mrs. Kathy Duvall, Louisville, Miss Jean Lewis, Frankfort, Mrs. Brenda Bunyea, Frankfort, Mrs. Linda Hornback, Frankfort and Mrs. Rosemary Woodruff, Jacksonville, Florida and one step-son: Jim Lewis, Frankfort.

 

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home, Shelbyville.  Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Gardens, Frankfort.

 

 

Ella Lewis

 

Ella R. Lewis, age 80 of Campbellsburg, died Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at Homestead Nursing Center, New Castle.  She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in LaGrange, a nurse, a co-owner and operator of Lewis Dry Goods and Fabrics in Nancy, KY, and the L & E Market in LaGrange.  She was the daughter of the late Hugh and Nellie Prather Richardson.

 

She is survived by her husband: Lloyd W. Lewis, Campbellsburg; three daughters: Mrs. Billy (Betty) Marshall, Campbellsburg, Mrs. Ken (Joan) Naylor, Louisville, and Barbara Downing, Paris, three sisters: Mrs. Richard (Evelyn) Tiller, New Port Richey, Florida, Mrs. Gene (Lucille) Mills, Cleveland, Tennessee and Helen Harp, LaGrange; two brothers: John Richardson, Florida and David Richardson, Hodgenville; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and many friends and relatives.

 

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 18th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Michael Duncan, pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, and Rev. Bert Montgomery, pastor of Campbellsburg Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Campbellsburg Masonic Cemetery.

Ruby Lewis

 

Ruby Lewis, age 84 of Eminence, died Tuesday, January 24, 2006, at West Central Community Hospital, Clinton, Indiana.

 

She is survived by one daughter: Margaret Clark, Clinton, Indiana; two sons: John Edward Lewis, Germany and William Michael Lewis, Florida; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Lewis, one daughter and two sons.

 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 26th at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Rev. Ed Berry, pastor of Henry Christian Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Thomas Lewis

 

Sgt. Thomas Lewis, 26 of Ellsworth Air Force Base, Rapid City, South Dakota, died Sunday, May 22, 1983, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.  He was a native of Henry County and attended the New Castle United Methodist Church.

 

He is survived by his mother: Mrs. Ruby Gladys Lewis; two sisters: Mrs. Frances Susan Adams and Mrs. Alvie (Margaret) Clark; two brothers: Master Sgt. John Edward Lewis and William Mickeal Lewis and several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 27th from Prewitt’s, New Castle.  Chaplain Steven Bias of Wright Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio, officiated.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery with full military services.

Wilma Lewis

 

Wilma Hayden Lewis, age 97 of Port Royal, died Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at Homestead Nursing Center, New Castle.  She was the daughter of the late Garvey Devore and Berthel Suter Devore Gullion and a member of the Port Royal Methodist Church.

 

She is survived by her brother: George Melvin Gullion, Madison, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husbands, Cecil Hayden and John Lewis and one sister.

 

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 26th at Ransdell Funeral Home in Campbellsburg.  Rev. Ron Laughlin officiated.  Interment was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

Doris Powell Lindsey

 

Mrs. Doris Powell Lindsey, 88, of Port Royal, died Tuesday, February 7, 1984, at the Homestead Nursing Center, New Castle.  She was a member of the Port Royal Baptist Church.

 

She is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Shelby (Lucie) Hicks, Louisville and Mrs. E. Hollis (Jessie) Harrison, Port Royal; one son: Robert G. Lindsey, Daytona Beach, Florida; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, February 19th from Prewitt’s, New Castle.  Rev. Bob Green will officiate.  Interment will be in the Port Royal Cemetery.

June Chilton Lindsey

 

Mrs. June Chilton Lindsey, Owensboro, a native of Henry County, died Sunday, May 6, 1984, after a four year battle with cancer.  Mrs. Lindsey, 55, graduated from the Kentucky Baptist School of Nursing.  She was the first Henry County Health Nurse when the clinic was established in June, 1952.  Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Chilton, Turners Station preceded her in death.

 

Survivors include her hsusband, Frank Lindsey; three daughters: Mrs. Lacie Kassinger, Ms. Patricia Lindsey and Ms. Beth Lindsey and one son: Timothy Lindsey, all of Owensboro and one brother: Jerry Chilton, Turners Station.

 

Funeral services were held at the Davis Funeral Home, Owensboro at 10 a.m. on May 8th.

Rizzie Jane Lindsey

 

Miss Rizzie Jane Lindsey, 88 of Route 1, Turners Station, died Monday, January 30, 1978 at her residence.  She was a member of the Turners Station Christian Church.

 

Survivors are two brothers: J. F. Lindsey, Port Royal and T. B. Lindsey, Louisville; two half-sisters: Mrs. Elva Lindsey, Route 1, Turners Station and Mrs. Georgia Adcock, Luscon, Arizona; three half brothers: William Lindsey, Route 1, Turners Station, Joe Lindsey, New Castle and Roy Lindsey, Louisville and several nieces and nephews.

 

Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday from Prewitt’s with Rev. Jack Mercer, pastor of the Hopewell Baptist Church, officiating.  Burial was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

Marion Link

 

Marion M. Link, age 71, of Brandon, Florida, formerly of Eminence, died Tuesday, November 16, 2004, at his residence.  He was a retired real estate agent and owner of Century 21 Link Realty of Brandon and past president of the Rotary Club.

 

He is survived by his wife: Shirley Link; one son: Charles Link; one daughter: Lillian LeBello; one brother: Lee Fink and four grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 20th at 10 a.m. at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home.  Entombment was in the Hillsboro Memorial Gardens.

Donald Liter

 

Donald Lee Liter, age 69, of Campbellsburg, died Thursday, March 3, 2005, at his residence.  He was a member of the Bedford Springs Church and the Teamsters Union #135.  He was the son of the late Ellis W. Crawford and Bertha Lucille Liter.

 

He is survived by his wife: Doris Murphy Liter, Campbellsburg; four daughters: Donna A. Harper, Franklin, Indiana, Karen J. Moore, Jamestown, Samantha D. Liter, Campbellsburg and Jessica Liter, LaGrange; three sons: Randy Harris, Bloomingdale, Texas, Eddie Harris, Krum, Texas and Ronald E. Liter, San Francisco; one sister Joan Nunn, McCloud, Oklahoma and twelve grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held at 6 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2005, at Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg.  Rev. Jimmy Justice officiated.  Interment was at the Wellston Cemetery in Oklahoma.

Willard Littrell

 

Willard Littrell, age 69, of Guthrie, died Tuesday, February 13, 1995 at the Clarksville Memorial Hospital, Clarksville, Tennessee. 

 

He is survived by his wife: Wilma Littrell, Guthrie; his mother: Corrie Littrell, London; two sons: James Littrell, Arba, Alabama and Randy Littrell, Port Royal; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

 

Services will be today (Wednesday, February 15th) at 10 a.m. at Laurel Funeral Home, London.  Graveside services will be Thursday, February 16th at 1 p.m. at the Eminence Cemetery.

Ellen Locklair

 

Mrs. Ellen Locklair, 83, Covington, died at 2:50 a.m. Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. S. P. Sanford, Pleasureville, where she had been spending some time.

 

She is survived by another daughter, Mrs. William Newman, Covington, with whom she had made her home; a sister: Mrs. Carrie Knight, Charleston, S.C.; eleven grandchildren and twenty- three great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Thomas Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. M. Estep, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Covington, where she was a member, officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

George Logan

 

George A. Logan, age 89 of Bedford, died Monday, May 1, 2006, at the Baptist Hospital Northeast, LaGrange.  He was a member of the Sulphur United Methodist Church, a dairy farmer, a U. A. Army Veteran of WWII, and the son of the late W. W. and Nannie Hutchinson Logan.

 

He is survived by his wife: Celia Logan; one son, Walter Logan, two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren, all of Bedford.  He was preceded in death by one son: Ronald Lewis Logan and six brothers and sisters.

 

Funerals services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 4th at the Sulphur United Methodist Church.  Rev. Jon Davenport, Sulphur United Methodist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Bedford I.O.O.F Cemetery.  Military honors were provided by the United States Army.  Ransdell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Ronald Lewis Logan

 

Miracle drugs and wholesale blood transfusions yesterday failed, a doctors knew they would, to save the life of a 4-year-old Henry County boy.

 

Ronald Lewis Logan, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Logan, Sulphur, died of acute leukemia at 12:10 p.m. at Children’s Hospital, Louisville.  He had been sick almost a year.

 

Besides his parents, Ronnie is survived by a brother, Walter Allen Logan, 10; his grandmother, Mrs. Belle Blackerby, Sulphur and three relatives who took turns helping to care for him during his long hospital stay – a cousin, Miss Elaine Davis, Louisville and an aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Kidwell, Sligo.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Sulphur Methodist Church.  Burial will be the Bedford Cemetery in Trimble County.

Willie Bertha Logan

 

Mrs. Willie Bertha Logan, 82 of Frankfort, died February 17, 1983 in Louisville.  She was the former Willie Jones, a native of Henry County, the daughter of the late Will and Eliza Pendleton Jones, and a member of the Drennon Springs Christian Church.

 

She is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Stella Miller, Mrs. Della Ernspiker, Mrs. Tommie Farmer and Mrs. Lorraine Goff, all of Louisville; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-eight great-grandchildren and twelve great-great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held Sunday at the Arch L. Heady Funeral Home, Louisville.  Interment was in the Midway Cemetery.

Kimberly Logsdon

 

Kimberley Anne Logsdon, age 39, died Saturday, November 5, 2005.  She was a homemaker, a registered nurse and was formerly employed by Baptist East Hospital.  She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church.

 

She is survived by her husband: Jeff Logsdon; three children: Curtis, Tyler and Katelyn Logsdon; parents: William and Carole Smith and grandmother: Anne Hughes.  She was preceded in death by one brother.

 

Cremation was chosen.  Following, a private entombment was held at the Louisville Memorial Gardens- East.  A memorial wake service was held Monday, November 7th at the Fern Creek Funeral Home, Louisville.  A second memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, November 12th at Stoess Funeral Home, Crestwood.

 

 

Catherine Roberts Long

 

Catherine Roberts Long, age 88, of Pleasureville, died Tuesday, October 26, 2004, at the Masonic Home in Shelbyville.  She was a lifetime member of the Pleasureville Baptist Church, retired from the Kentucky Labor Cabinet, a member of the Homemakers Club, a 4-H Leader, a homemaker, and the daughter of the late Ora Lee and Rachel Elizabeth Casey Roberts.

 

She is survived by one daughter: Cathie Ann Long Beckley, Frankfort; one son: Larry Ray Long, Burlington, North Carolina; two sisters: Josephine MaGruder, Pleasureville and Ora Elizabeth Barton, Taylorsville; two grandsons; one granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband: Laymond Long, three sisters and one brother.

 

Funeral services were held Friday, October 29 at 11 a.m. at the Pleasureville Baptist Church.  Rev. Jerry Anderson officiated.  Burial was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.
