          Charles C. Kelley, 86, of New Castle, died Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  He was the son of the late George W. Kelley and Emma Catherine Kopp.

            He is survived by his wife: Marie Wentworth Kelley, New Castle; daughter: Velda Marie Dees, Louisville; sons: Dennis Coleman Kelley, Louisville and Gary Dale Kelley, New Castle.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 26, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. David Combs, Pastor of the New Castle United Met5hodist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Elsa Matheney

 

          Leonila “Elsa” Matheney, 76, died Sunday, October 27, 2013.  She was born in the Isle of Pines, Cuba in 1937 and moved to the Pleasureville area in 1965.

            She is survived by two sons: Louis Perez, Pleasureville and Joseph Perez, Harlingen, TX; and one daughter: Juliana Perez, Bainbridge Island, WA.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 30 at the Pleasureville Baptist Church.  Burial was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.  The Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville, was in charge of arrangements.

Eden Mattingly

 

          Eden Rae Mattingly, infant daughter of Christy and Tommy Mattingly, died Sunday, November 10, 2013, at Norton Mattingly Hospital.

            In addition to her parents, Eden is survived by: one sister: Destiny Mattingly and three brothers: Roeby, Jager and Hayden Mattingly.

            Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 16, at the Shady Lawn Cemeter.  Prewitt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Paul Miller

 

          Paul C. Miller, 62, of New Castle, died Monday, November 18, 2013, at his residence.  He was the son of the late Ruby Lay and Paul Cortez Miller, Sr.

            He is survived by his wife: Donna Sanders Miller, New Castle; one daughter: Bridget Sue Crume, Louisville and one son: Michael Brent, Carrollton.

            A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 30 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Tammie Lanham, Pastor of the Point Pleasant Christian Church, officiated.

Cynthia Monroe

 

          Cynthia Louise Whitehouse Monroe, 87, of LaGrange, formerly of Campbellsburg, died November 20, 2013, at the Episcopal Church Home in Louisville.  She was the daughter of the late Andrew Harrison and Sintha Ann Goodlett Whitehouse.

          She is survived by her children: Carolyn Monroe Hazelwood, LaGrange, Betty Monroe, Rockwall, TX, Philip Monroe, Louisville, Judy Monroe Groves, Franklin and Randy Monroe, Milton.

            Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 23, at Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg.  Rev. John Boyd and Rev. Shawn Golden, officiated.  Burial was in the Mt. Washington Cemetery.

Robin Moore

 

          Robin R, Moore, 52, of Turners Station, died Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at Baptist Hospital East, Louisville.  She was the daughter of Ronald Leon and Ramona Malott Jacobi.

            She is survived by her husband: Michael Moore, Turners Station; a son: Andrew Leon Egle, Toney, AL and a daughter: Amanda Jo Simpson, Eminence.

            Private funeral services and burial were in Salem, IN.

Kesler Noe

 

          Kesler K. Noe, 74, of Eminence, died Friday, November 14, 2013, at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  He was born in Sulphur and was a factory worker for 38 years and was a member of the Henry Christian Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Martha Watson Noe, Eminence; two sons: Larry (Tracy) Noe, Eminence and Mike (Gail) Noe, Smithfield; and two grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a son, William Kesler Noe and parents, Loise and Pauline Noe.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 19 at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Ed. Berry and Rev. Nick Coleman, Pastors of the Henry Christian Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Betty Jo Pile

 

Betty Jo Pile, 82, passed away on September 24, 2013 at her daughter’s residence in Smithfield.  She was born on May 11, 1931 in Chickasha, OK, to the late William Oscar and Susie Johnson Bounds.

            Betty was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.  She was an accomplished seamstress who delighted in crafting beautiful creations of clothing.  She was a devoted member of the United Methodist Church.  In her earlier years Betty was a leader of the Girl Scouts of America, a member of P.E.O. Sisterhood and the current events club of Jeffersontown.

            She leaves to mourn her passing her children: Nancy Pile Laney and her husband, Michael, of Smithfield and William Pile and his wife, Laura Rickard, of Durango, CO; and her sister: Ardia Faye Bingham and her husband, L. C., of Wayne, OK; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

            Betty was preceded in death by her beloved parents and her husband, Donald E. Pile.

            Cremation was chosen, a memorial services is planned for spring.

Dr. A. J. Powell, Jr.

 

          Dr. A. J. Powell, Jr., 74, died Wednesday, October 30, 2013.  He was preceded by his parents Andrew and Clara Forquer Powell.

            He is survived by his wife: Janie Singleton Powell, New Castle.  They were married 51 years.  Sisters: Joan Rains, Sue Hoagland, Ann Cravens and Gene Kirkpatrick; children: Julie Powell and Jeff (Ann) Powell; one granddaughter and severl nieces and nephews.

            He was born in Lacie in 1939 and graduated from Campbellsburg High School in 1957.  He graduated from UK (BS and MS in Agriculture and Virginia Tech (phD in Agronomy.  He was a professor and Research and Extension Specialist in Turfgrass for 30 years at UK and served two years in the Army in El Paso, TX.

            Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 2 at the Anchor Baptist Church, Lexington.  Burial was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Allen Powell

 

          Allen K. Powell, 82, of Louisville, died Tghursday, November 7, 2013 at Hosparus in Louisville.  He was the son of the late Joe and Lucy Carr Powell.

            He is survived by his wife: Lee Ann G. Powell, Louisville; one son: Dean Allen Powell, Germany and one daughter: Karen Newton, Louisville.

            Funeral services were he3ld at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 9 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Nick Coleman officiated.  Interment was in the Sulphur Cemetery.

Alma Joyce Clubb Pugh

 

          Alma Joyce Clubb Pugh, 82, of Frankfort, died Friday, September 13, 2013, at her home.  She was born in Bethlehem and was the daughter of the late Barton and Ethel Cox Clubb.

            She is survived by her husband: Carlos Pugh, Frankfort and her son: Jeffrey Pugh, Lexington.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 16 at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Dr. Chuck Queen, Pastor of the Immanuel Baptist Church, Frankfort, officiated.  Burial was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Robert E. Rawlins

           

            Robert E. Rawlins, 71, of Smithfield, died Wednesday, October 16, 2013, in Charleston, SC.  He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky Law School and was a life-long member of Sigma Chi.  He served 30 years as a prosecutor with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Eastern Kentucky District.  Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Charleene Davidson Rawlins.

            He is survived by his wife: Constance Rawlins, Smithfield; his father: Robert H. (Mary Jane) Rawlins, Ft. Myers, FL; two brothers: David D. (Cindi) Rawlins, St. Simon, GA and John (Helen) Rawlins, Phoenixville, PA; step-children: Matthew White, Lexington, Benjamin (Cassandra) White, Defoe and Stephanie White (Hiram Gibbard), Houston, TX; grandchildren: Lucy White and Bennie White and nieces and nephews: Justin Rawlins, Andrew Rawlins, Kimberly (Travis) McKenzie, Martha (John) Heid and Elizabeth (Greg) Sproule sand his beloved Airedale, Meggie.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 23 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Dr. Dave Charlton officiated.

Alvin Lee Roberts

 

          Alvin Lee Roberts, 85, of Bethlehem, died Friday, September 13, 2013, at homestead Nursing Center, New Castle.  He was born in Bethlehem and was the son of the late Charlie and Valeda Arnold Roberts.  Alvin was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. 

            He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Marie Byers Roberts.  He is survived by six nieces and several great-nieces and nephews and several cousins.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 17 at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Travis Sheehan, Pastor of the Bethlehem Baptist Church, officiated.  Burial was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Corean Robinson

         

          Corean Whitehouse Robinson, 93, of Eminence, formerly of Port Royal, died Sunday, March 25, 2001 at Valley View Health Care, Taylorsville.  She was a native of Jefferson County, the daughter of the late John Henry and Ivy Curtsinger Whitehouse and a member of the Port Royal Baptist Church.

            She is survived by one son: James E. Robinson, Eminence; one brother: Floyd Whitehouse, Louisville; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by one daughter, Doris Rodgers and one grandson.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 28 at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Rev. Rick Coleman, Pastor of the New Castle Christian Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

Florence Robinson,

 

 Florence Browning Robinson, 87, of Bethlehem, died Thursday, November 20, 2003 at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville.  She was the daughter of the late Samuel Johnson and Emmaline Scott Browning, a school teacher at the Salem School, a homemaker and a member of the Lockport Baptist Church.

            She is survived by three sons: Harrison Robinson, Bethlehem, Alva “Shorty” Robinson, Lockport and leon Robinson, Gestville; two brother: Earl Browning, Spangler, Washington and John browning Sanders; one sister: Margaret Kendall, Louisville; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Everett Robinson, two brothers and one sister.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 23 at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Wayne Kelly, Pastor of the Lockport Baptist Church, officiated.  Burial was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Louise Robinson

 

          Louise Shaw Robinson, 91, died Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at New Horizon Medical Center, Owenton.  She was the daughter of the late Linden and Lula Johnson Shaw, one of the oldest members of the Lockport Baptist Church and the postmistress at the Lockport Post Office for 48 years.

            She is survived by one son: Ernest Klein Robinson, Bethlehem; three daughters: Vonda Howard, Owenton, Marilyn Gay Mudd, Bethlehem and Brenda Fitzgerald, Campbellsburg; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Matt Robinson.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 18 at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Wayne Kelly, Pastor of the Lockport Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Richard Robinson

 

          Richard Robinson, Jr., 75, of New Castle, died Saturday, November 2, 2013, at Baptist Health, Louisville.  He was the son of the late Richard Robinson, Sr. and Mary Scott Robinson.

            He is survived by his wife: Pearl Dixie Robinson, LaGrange; four daughters: Rose Meredith Trabue, Louisville, Thelma Robinson and Stella Robinson, both of LaGrange and Wanda Robinson, Eminence; and two sons: Danny Robinson, Madison, IN and Ricky Robinson, New Castle.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 7 at the Main Street Baptist Church, New Castle.  Interment was in the New Castle GUOOF Cemetery.

Herman Robison

 

          Herman S. “Bubby” Robison, 76, of Sulphur, died Monday, August 5, 2002 at his residence after an illness.  He was the son of the late George William and Florine Doke Robison, a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, a journeyman lineman with IBEW Local #71, Columbus, OH, and a member of the Bedford Baptist Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Betty Louden Robison, Sulphur; two daughters: Janice (Ronald) Bailey, Campbellsburg and Mona (Randy) Dowden, Eminence; one son: Danny Joe Robison, Sulphur; three sisters: Beulah (Webb) Ramsey, Jr., Venice, FL, Clorine Joy Robison, Milton and Sherian LaVerne (Randy) Tingle, Campbellsburg; four brothers: Jerry Robison, George Louis Robison and Delbert Lee Robison, all of Sulphur, and James Clifford Robison, West Palm Beach, FL; six grandchildren; one step grandson and one great-grandson.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 9, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. O. B. Smith, Pastor of the Sulphur Christian Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. Nick Coleman, Sulphur and Rev. Roy Lillpop, Pastor of the Sulphur Baptist Church.  Interment was in Sulphur Cemetery.

          Agnes C. Rodgers, 86, Pendleton, died Monday, July 21, 2008, at Baptist Hospital Northeast in LaGrange.  Daughter of the late William and Ellena Arnold Roberts, she was a member of the Sligo Baptist Church and attended Christ Open Door Church.

            She is survived by her daughter: Bobbie (David) Watkins, Crestwood; one sister: Joan Huggins, MO; one brother: Linden Roberts, Eminence; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 24 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Sister Linda Morgan, Pastor of Christ Open Door Fellowship Church, officiated, assisted by Bro. John Kennedy, Pastor of the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Sherry Rodrigruez

 

          Sherry Haberman Tindle Rodrigruez, 50, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, January 20, 2002 at Jewish Hospital, Louisville after a long illness.  She was a native of Henry County, the daughter of the late Marshall and Edith Spurr Haberman, Sr., a security guard with Burns Security, Shelbyville and a member of the First Baptist Church, Shelbyville.

            She is survived by her husband: Ruben Rodrigruez Quiroz, Shelbyville; two daughters: Lynette (James) Woods and Virginia Tindle, both of Shelbyville; two sons: Donnie Haberman, Pleasureville and Kenneth E. Tindle, Campbellsburg; three sisters: Millie spies and Paulette (Avery) Wardrup, both of Campbellsburg and Linda Yeary, Frankfort; one brother: Marshall Haberman, Jr., Bagdad and eight grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 23 at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Rev. Rick Clark, Pastor of the Central Baptist Church, Frankfort, officiated.  Interment was in  the New Castle Cemetery.

Dan Rogers, Jr.

 

          Dan Rogers, Jr., 83, of New Castle, died Monday, March 10, 2008, at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  He was the son of the late Dan and Vey Harrod Rogers, Sr., a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and a member of the Henry Christian Church.

            He is survived by one daughter: Charlene Neal, Louisville; one son: Carroll Gene (Beth) Rogers, Glasgow; one sister: Ella Mae Moore, Louisville; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 15 at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Bro. Ed Berry, Pastor of the Henry Christian Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

John Rogers, Jr.

 

          John T. Rogers, Jr., 21, of Smithfield, died Sunday, June 2, 2002 in Campbellsburg.  He was a native of Jefferson County, an employee of Louisville Saydah Company, Eminence and a member of the Henry Christian Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Sharon Calvin Rogers, LaGrange; three daughters: Harlie Rogers, Kesshia Woody and April Woody, all of LaGrange; his parents: John T. and Belle Trail Rogers, Sr., Smithfield; two brothers: Marvin Wayne Trail, Chandler, AZ and John W. Nalley, Jr., New Castle; a half-sister: Dina Hardin, Chicago, IL; a half-brother: James Lee Hardin, Taylorsville and his grandmother: Mildred Roberts, New Castle.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 6, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Robert Fields, Associate Pastor of the First Baptist Church, Eminence, officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

John Rogers, Sr.

 

          John Thomas Rogers, Sr., 55, of New Castle, died Monday, October 6, 2003 at his residence after a long illness.  He was the son of the late Wilbur and Mildred Leona Smith Roberts Rogers, a farmer and a member of the Smithfield Baptist Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Belle Trail Rogers, New Castle; one son: Marvin Wayne Trail, LaGrange; one sister: Evalena (Albert) Raisor, New Castle; one brother: Evan Dean Roberts, New Castle; one step-daughter: Diana Hardin, Tampa, FL; one step-son: James Lee Hardin, Louisville and two grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Robert J. Fields, associate Pastor of the First Baptist Church, Eminence, officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

          Edward Rohleder, 63, of Smithfield, died Friday, March 8, 2002 at his residence.  He was the son of the late Ambrose and Margaret Mary Reidinger Rohleder and a Veteran of the National Guard.

            He is survived by two daughters: Leslie Sexton, Louisville and Lisa Rohleder, Marshall Islands; one son: Doug J. Rohleder, Smyrna, TN; two sisters: Norma (Jerry) Smith, Louisville and Rose Ann Hedden, Kaufman, TX; three brothers: Robert Rohleder and Norman “Tubby” Rohleder, both of Louisville and Donald “Dutch” Rohleder, Gun Barrell City, TX and two granddaughters.

            Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 145 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Nina Roller

 

          Nina Julia Roller, 83, of New Castle died Tuesday, February 10, 2004 at her residence.  She was a native of Princess Ann, VA, the daughter of the late Durwood and Virgie Waterfield, a retired sewing machine operator with Cricketeer Manufacturing Co., Harrodsburg for 30 years and a member of the Alum Springs First Church of God, Boyle County.

            She is survived by one daughter: Janet (Marvin) Thompson, New Castle; two sons: Donnie Roller, Sandy Hook and David Roller, Palmyra, IN; two sisters: Catherine Wynn, St. Petersburg, FL and Ruby (Howard) Morris, Virginia Beach, VA; seven grandchildren; six step- grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandson.  She was preceded in death by one son, Gary Roller, four brothers and one sister.

            Funeral services were held at noon, Saturday, February 14 at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Bro. Billy Singleton, Paris, officiated.  Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Gardens, Frankfort.

Ford Roop

 

          Ford Sherman Roop, 85, of Pendleton, formerly of Jonesville, VA and Salem, IN, died Monday, July 16, 2001 at Tri-County Baptist Hospital, LaGrange.  He was a native of Lee County, VA, the son of the late Joe Cephas and Sally Bailey Roop, a retired farmer, employee of Jefferson Proving Grounds, Jeffersonville, IN and a member of the Oldham Woods Church of Christ.

            He is survived by his wife: Juanita Terry Roop, Pendleton; two daughters: Clara (Robert) Caoble, Smithfield and Fern (Norman) White, Jonesborough, TN; one son: Larry J. Roop Cody, WY; two sisters: Mary Holmes, Las Vegas, NV and Shirley Williams, Wildwood, FL; two brothers: Milford Roop, Campbellsburg, IN and James Roop, Wildwood, FL; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by one son, Billy Gene Roop.

            Funeral services were held at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 18 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Bro. Greg Gravitt, Pastor of the Oldham Woods Church of Christ, LaGrange, officiated.  Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 20 at the Roop Family Cemetery, Jonesville, VA.

          Clara Rose, 83, of New Castle, died Monday, March 26, 2001 at Tri-county Baptist Hospital, LaGrange.  She was the daughter of the late John Samuel and Margaret E. Pettit Moore, a retired cook for the Henry County Public Schools and a member of the New Castle Christian Church.

            She is survived by one son: Ronald Rose, New Castle; two sisters: Marie Ricketts, Sellersburg, IN and Rosie Jennings, Eminence; two grandsons and two great-granddaughters.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmond W. Rose and one daughter, Shirley Louise Rose.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 28 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Rick Coleman, Pastor of the New Castle Christian Church, officiated, assisted by Dr. David Charlton, Pastor of the New Castle First Baptist Church.

Interment was in the Franklinton Cemetery.

Layton Rouse, DMD

 

          Layton L. “Mickey” Rouse, DMD, 93, of New Castle, died Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Twin Oaks Assisted Living, New Castle.  Son of the late Louis Elbert and Jessie Huey Rouse, he was a U.S. Army veteran.

            He is survived by his wife: Betsy Brown Rouse, New Castle and two daughters: Dorothy Meng, Lexington and Mary Louise Schepman, New Castle.

            A memorial service was held on Wednesday, April 18 at the Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Dr. Corky Klingefus, Associate Pastor at the Southeast Christian Church, officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

          Harold Estell Rowlett, 82, of Bedford, died Sunday, January 9, 2005 at his residence.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, a member of the Milton United Methodist Church and the son of the late Henry and Gracie Morgan Rowlett.

            He is survived by his wife: Alice Loraine Kemp Rowlett, Bedford; two daughters: Debbie (Brad) Hargrove, Eminence and Shelia Rowlett, Louisville; one sister: Neola Rowlett Hoops, Bedford; four granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by one sister.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 12 at the Milton United Methodist Church.  Rev. Mike McArter officiated.  Burial was in the Bedford I.O.O.F. Cemetery with Military Rites.  Ransdell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Larry Royalty

 

          Larry W. “Butch” Royalty, 66, of Kerrville, TX, died April 21, 2007, in Texas.  Son of the late Huston and Catherine Royalty, he was a U.S. Air Force Veteran from the Vietnam War.

            He is survived by one sister: Barbara Royalty, Eminence and several cousins.

            A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 9 at Louisville Memorial Gardens East.  Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Doris Ruble

 

          Doris Jean Sutherland Ruble, 80, died Saturday, September 10, 2011 in Shelbyville.  She was a member of  the Shelbyville First Baptist Church and a retired LPN with Jewish Hospital after 57 years.

            She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Maurice Loyd Ruble; sons: Gary Loyd (Sheron) Ruble, Shelbyville, Maurice Gerald “Jerry” Ruble, Lexington and John Anthony “Tony” Ruble, LaGrange; daughter: Karen (Mark) Smith, Shelbyville; daughter-in-law: Charlene Ruble, LaGrange; sisters: Shirley Sutherland Boyatt and Tenny Sutherland Apple, both of Louisville; one brother: Ray Sutherland, North Port, FL and ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 13,at Shannon Funeral Home, Shelbyville.  Dr. Fred Moffatt officiated.  Interment was in the Grove Hill Cemetery.

Freddie Ruble

 

          Freddie A. Ruble, 74, of Bagdad, died Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at his residence.  He was the son of the late James Gerald and Elizabeth Moffett Ruble.

            He is survived by his wife: Geneva Godbey Ruble; his son: Wes Ruble, Bagdad and his daughter: Renee Ruble, Lawrenceburg.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 6 at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home, Shelbyville.  Rev. Jeff Peed officiated.  Interment was in the Bagdad Cemetery.

Allen Rucker

 

          Allen Thomas Rucker, 64, of Defoe, died Monday, April 18, 2005, at his residence.  He was a member and deacon of the Pleasureville Baptist Church, a retired Kentucky State Highway department employee of 28 years and a farmer.  He was the son of the late R. T. and Ruth Ellis Rucker.

            He is survived by his wife: Betty Richardson Rucker, Defoe; three sons: Allen Thomas Rucker, Jr., Bedford, Steven Ray Rucker, Mancos, CO and William Jeffrey Rucker, Defoe; one sister: Shirley Batts, Jamestown; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one nephew.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 22 at the Pleasureville Baptist Church.  Rev. Jerry Anderson officiated, assisted by Rev. Tommy Rucker, Rev. Mark Combs and Howard Lee Byers.  Burial was in the Defoe Cemetery.  Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville, was in charge of arrangements.

Evelyn Rucker

 

          Evelyn Joyce Rucker, 73, of New Castle, died Monday, August 6, 2012 at The Richwood in LaGrange.  She was the daughter of the late Garland and Beatrice Adler Rucker.

            She is survived by one brother: Walter Jo Rucker, Pendleton; two sisters: Katherine Rogers, LaGrange and Leola Kelley, New Castle.

Florence Rucker

 

          Florence Rucker, 82, of Eminence, died Wednesday, May 1, 2002 at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  She was a native of Shelby County, the daughter of the late Joe Frank and Susie Adams LaFollette, a retired waitress at Chat-n-Nibble restaurant and a member of the Eminence Christian Church.

            She is survived by two daughters: Judy James, Louisville and Linda (Don) Brown, Shelbyville; one son: Joe Rucker, Eminence; two sisters: Lula Adams, Eminence and Thelma Bollini, LaGrange; one brother: Junior LaFollette, Eminence; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2002 at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Rev. Terrye Williams, Pastor of the Eminence Christian Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

          Jimmy Rucker, 73, of Frankfort, died Saturday, June 4, 2011 at his residence.  He was born in Defoe, the son of the late Sam and Ruth Perry Rucker.  He was a carpenter and a member of the Pleasureville Baptist Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Carolyn Rucker, Frankfort; three daughters: Ninnie Rucker, Carrollton, Tina Rucker Greene, Frankfort and Terena Rucker, Corinth; one sister: Glenda Rucker, Pleasureville; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by a daughter, Delilia Rucker Sherrow.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 8 at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Interment was in the Defoe Cemetery.

Katie Rucker

 

          Katie S. Rucker, 97, of Eminence, died Thursday, December 13, 2007.  Daughter of the late Joe and Mary Speed Rucker, she was a homemaker and the oldest member of the Union Baptist Church, Defoe.

            She is survived by several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 16 at prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Carl Rucker, Pastor of the Port Royal Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Defoe Cemetery.

          Katie Florence Rucker, 70, of Eminence, died Friday, August 17, 2001 at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville.  She was a native of Defoe, the daughter of the late Garland and Beatrice Adler Rucker, a homemaker and a member of the Elmburg Baptist Church.

            She is survived by two sons: David Ray Rucker, Bethlehem and Michael “Pig” Rucker, Pleasureville; one brother: Walter Joe Rucker, LaGrange; four sisters: Lucille Craig, Frankfort, Leola Kelley, Joyce Rucker and Mary C. Rogers, all of New Castle; one aunt; one grandchild; three great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee Rucker and one son, Omer Lee Rucker.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 20 at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Hayward Yeary officiated, assisted by Bro. Carl Rogers.  Burial was in the Defoe Cemetery.

          Lonnie G. Rucker, 42, of Defoe, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2008.  Son of the late Leslie and Willena Stivers Rucker, he was a truck driver for M & M Cartage.  Lonnie was a member of the Union Baptist Church.

            He is survived by a son: Joseph Allen-Cole Rucker; sisters: Margie R. Long and Kathy Jo McCane; nephews: Leslie “Kenny” Long and Dustin McCarty.

Mary Rucker

 

          Mary Louise Rucker, 77, of Frankfort, formerly of Defoe, died Thursday, November 24, 2005 at her residence.  She was a member of the Buck Run Baptist Church, a former member of the Union Baptist Church, daughter of the late John and Lillie Deakins Bohannon and a 19 year employee for Fruit of the Loom Sewing Factory.

            She is survived by two sons: Fountain Rucker, Jr., Defoe and Wayne Rucker, Frankfort; one daughter: Rita Beasley, Frankfort; one sister: Naomi Wilkerson, New Castle; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Fountain Rucker, Sr., four brothers and one sister.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 27 at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Ken Underwood, Buck Run Baptist Church and Rev. Vic Johnson, union Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Defoe Cemetery.

          Terry S. Rucker, 44, of Campbellsburg, died Friday, July 6, 2001 suddenly at his residence.  He was the son of the late Morrison Rucker, an employee of Long Field Farms of Goshen for 13 years and a member of the Campbellsburg Baptist Church.

            He is survived by his mother: Juanita Tingle Rucker, Campbellsburg; one sister: Hallie Rucker (Billy) Jones, Port Royal; two brothers: Tony Rucker and David Rucker, both of Campbellsburg and several nieces and nephews.

Vernon Rucker

 

          Vernon C. Rucker, 85, of Louisville, formerly of Eminence, died Sunday, June 18, 2006 at his residence.  He was a native of Franklin County, son of the late Stratton and Hallie Harper Rucker and a member of the Eminence United Methodist Church.  He was also the Town Marshall of Owenton, a Jeffersontown Police Officer, a deputy sheriff and sheriff of Henry County and the Chief of Police of Eminence for over 15 years.  He was an active member of the Kentucky Sheriff’s Association and a U. S. Army Veteran of WWII.

            He is survived by his wife: Mary Ebersbaker Rucker, Louisville; two sons: Joe Rucker, Eminence and Jackie Rucker, Texas; two daughters: Judy James and Linda Brown, both of Louisville; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 21 at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Carl L. Rucker, Pastor of the Port Royal Baptist Chuerch, officiated.  Interment was in the Defoe Cemetery.

          Dustin Ray Rupard, 19, of Sulphur, died Sunday, April 27, 2008 in Sulphur.  He was the son of the late Jeff Combs and worked in construction.

            He is survived by one son: Elijah McBride, Crestwood; his mother: Hope Cecil; grandmothers: Nancy Rupard, Campbellsburg and Kathy Glackn, Glencoe; three sisters: Rebekah Buck, Gallatin Co., Victoria Buck, Dayton, OH and Alanis Rosell, Sulphur; and one brother: Sean Rosell, Sulphur.

          Marcella Brierly Rusch, 56, of Bardstown, formerly of Henry County, died Wednesday, July 12, 2006.  Daughter of the late Lawrence and Dorothy Ricketts Brierly, she was a certified nurse’s technician.  She was a member of the Cropper Baptist Church.

            She is survived by her husband: Christopher J. Rusch, Bardstown; two daughters: Leslie Carroll (Chris) Hensley, Bardstown and Drucella (David) Shrum, LaFayette, TN; one son: Clint Shrum, Lebanon, TN; one brother: Logan Ray Nolan, Clarksville, TN; four sisters: Grace (Jim) Hanson, Salem, IN, Joyce (Jim) Waggoner, Taylorsville, Dottie Bohannon, Eminence, Mary Leslie (James) Hawkins, Shelbyville and six grandchildren.
