Charles Satterley

 

Charles William Satterley, 82, of Pendleton, died Monday, May 30, 2005 at his residence.  He was a native of Nelson County, a retired employee of Celanese Specialties, son of the late Fred and Anna Love Satterley and a U. S. Army Veteran of WWII. 

 

He is survived by his wife: Elizabeth Ruth Satterley; one son: Michael Satterley; one daughter: Bonnie Roederer; one stepson: Robert Campbell; three brothers: Raymond, Tom and Ray Satterley; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by one son, Charles Douglas Satterley, three brothers and one sister.

 

Funeral services were held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, June2nd at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home.  Interment was in the Riverview Cemetery.

Glenn Sharp, Sr.

 

Glenn E. Sharp, Sr., 70, of New Castle, died Friday, March 13, 2009.  Son of the late Allie, Sr. and Ethel �Granny� Sharp, he was a member of the Drennon Christian Church.

 

He is survived by one daughter: Janet Jackson and husband, Darrell, Campbellsburg; four sons: Glenn Sharp, Jr., Bethlehem, Randy Sharp and wife, Cindy and Steve Sharp and wife, Tammy, all of New Castle, Willie Sharp and wife, Tammy, Pendleton,; two sisters: Betty Eddins, Campbellsburg and Barbara Jones, Pleasureville; three brothers: Allie Sharp, Jr., LaGrange, Vernon Sharp and Jerry Sharp, both of Lockport; seventeen grandchildren; and twenty-two great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by one daughter, Peggy Sue Lindsey and one brother, Jack Wayne Sharp.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 15th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home,  Rev. Nick Coleman of Sulphur, officiated.  Interment was in the Franklinton Cemetery.

John Sharp

 

John L. Sharp, 79, of New Castle, died Sunday, April 2, 2006.  He was a retired pipefitter for American Standard, a U. S. Army Veteran of WWII and a lifetime member of VFW Post #6182.

 

He is survived by one son: John R. Sharp; one sister: Pauline Moyers; two brothers: Gene and Glen Sharp; five grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 5th at fern Creek Funeral Home, Louisville.  Interment was in the Highland memorial Gardens, Mt. Washington.

Laura Simpson

 

Laura Marie Simpson, 42, of Louisville, formerly of Bedford, died Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.  She was the daughter of the late Herbert Simpson and a real estate agent.

 

She is survived by two sons: Joshua William Simpson and wife, Tera, Bedford and Ryan Skylar Highfill, Pendleton; one daughter: Laura Rae Huff and husband, Travis, Jeffersonville, IN; her mother: Donna Rafferty, Leitchfield; four brother: Joseph Lee Simpson, Edmond Wyatt Simpson, Jr., Herbert Michael Simpson, all of Bedford, and Billy Harvey, Louisville; and one sister: Patricia Simpson, Louisville.  She was preceded in death by her stepfather: Ed Wyatt.

 

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 18th, at Ransdell Funeral Home in Bedford.  Bro. David Coy officiated.  Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville.

Allen J. Smith

 

Allen J. Smith, 72, of Smithfield, died Tuesday, April 18, 2006, in his home.  Son of the late Norvin J. and Edna Jones Smith, he retired from ABS Printing Company.  He was a longtime member of the Smithfield Baptist Church where he faithfully served as a deacon, trustee and Sunday School Director.  He was preceded in death by two brothers: Jewell Ray and Robert Smith.

 

He is survived  by his wife: Irene Puckett Smith, Smithfield; one son: David Allen Smith and wife Tina, Campbellsburg; one daughter: Mrs. Alan (Lorilee) Parrish, Pendleton; one brother: D. S, Smith and his wife, Norma, Eminence; two sisters: Mildred Browning, Smithfield and Mrs. Jim (Lorena) Petitt, Eminence; and six grandchildren: Michael Alan, Cameran, Caeleb, Jessica, Kendyll and Kellyn.

 

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 27th, at the Smithfield Baptist Church.  Bro. Ed Life, Pastor of the Smithfield Baptist Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. Roy Jones of Cape Giraudeau, OO.  Interment was in the Smithfield Cemetery.  Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Kenneth Smith

 

Kenneth Raymond Smith, 83, of Elizabettown, formerly of Owenton, died Monday, April 20, 2009, at Hardin memorial Hospital.  He was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church, a local business man and co-owner of the Treasure Chest.  He was the son of the late Hallie and Birda Ellen Kenman Smith.

 

He is survived by his wife: Elizabeth Cox Smith; two sons: H. Wayne Smith and wife, Eloise, Elizabethtown, and Brad Smith and wife, Rhonda, Louisville; one sister: Doris L. Gaines, Owenton; one brother: Terry D. Smith, Bethlehem; two step-granddaughters and five step-great- grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by five brothers; Howard, Walker Ray, Robert L. Melvin O. and Jerry Smith.

 

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 23rd, at Brown Funeral Home.  Rev. Gary Chapman officiated.  Interment was in the Hardin memorial Park.

Ira Smither, Sr.

 

Ira Wayne Smither, Sr., 56, of Lockport, died Sunday, February 12, 2006, at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  He was a retired supervisor for Ohio Valley Aluminum Co., a member of the Lockport Baptist Church and son of the late Andrew Jackson �Buck� Smither.

 

He is survived by his wife: Cynthia Knight Smither, Lockport; his mother: Kathryn Thornton Smither, New Castle; three sons: Ira Smither, Jr., and Steven McQueen, both of Lockport and Barry Wayne Smither, Owenton; two daughters: Regina Gayle Sharp, Lockport and Rhonda McQueen, Louisville; two brothers: Owen Smither, Bethlehem and Donald Smither, Waddy; one sister: Mary Kathryn Moore, Lockport; thirteen grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by one grandson.

 

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. February 15th at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Leon Robinson officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Drexel �Lee� Southworth

 

Drexel �Lee� Southworth, 61, of New Castle, died Sunday, January 29, 2006, at Baptist Hospital Northeast, LaGrange.  He was a 1964 graduated of Georgetown High School, a member of the New Castle United Methodist Church, president of the Henry County Rod and Gun Club for fifteen years, served in the U. S. Army Reserves, and was preceded in death by his father: Drexel May Southworth and son: Drexel Todd Southworth. 

 

He is survived by his wife: Gloris Irvin Southworth, New Castle; one son: Scott Southworth and wife, Jessica, New Castle; granddaughter: Kylie Jo Hedges, New Castle; mother: Dorothy Alexander Southworth, Lexington; two sisters: Car0ol Sue Southworth and Betty Lou Spears, both of Lexington; and one brother: Donald Ray Southworth, Indiana.

 

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 1st, at Henry Christian Church.  Rev. Garry Polston, Pastor of the New Castle United Methodist Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. Nick Coleman, Sulphur and Rev. Anthony Pierce4, Pastor of the New Castle Christian Church.  Burial was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Ruby Spillman

 

Ruby Mae Calico Spillman, 82, of New Castle, died Thursday, May 19, 2005 at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  She was a farmer and homemaker, a charter life member of the DAV Chapter #155 Ladies Auxiliary and the daughter of the late Morris and Anna Wallace Calico.

 

She is survived by one daughter: Susan (Tommy) Pyles, New Castle; one son: Morris Spillman, Louisville; one brother: Lewis Calico, Berea; one sister: Emma Mae Harmon, Berea and two granddaughters.  She was preceded in death by her husband: Harold S. Spillman and one son: Harold R. Spillman.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 21st, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Garnett Sloan, Pastor of the Cairo United Methodist Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. Garry Polston, Pastor of the New Castle United Methodist Church.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Sara Staten

 

Sara belle �Blondie� Staten, 89, of Eminence, died Thursday, March 30, 2006, at the Masonic Home, Shelbyville.  She was the daughter of the late Charles Robert and Mary Lee Hancock Mitchell, and a member of the Eminence United Methodist Church. 

 

She is survived by four daughters: Mary Jane Batterton, Mrs. Herbert (Brenda) McCoun, Jr., Mrs. Bobby G. (Martha Ann) Powell and Mrs. Robert (Denise) King, all of Shelbyville; nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband: Wilson Staten, and one sister and one brother.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 2nd at the Eminence United Methodist Church.  Rev. Garry Polston, Pastor of the Eminence United Methodist Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. Jesse Baxter, Chaplain of the Old Masons Home.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Pauline Tate

 

Pauline �Polly� Perry Tate, 92, of Campbellsburg, died Saturday, February 28, 2009, at Homestead Nursing Center in New Castle.  She was a member of the Turners Station Christian Church and daughter of the late Arthur and Nora Tingle Perry.

 

She is survived by one foster son: Paul David Hill and wife, Sue, Pleasureville; two sisters: Kathleen Baker, Turners Station and Ruby McManis, Carrollton; two foster grandchildren: and three foster great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband: Leslie L. Tate; two sisters: Aileen Way and Vera McManis and two brothers: Bill and Charlie Perry.

 

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 2nd, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Carl Rucker of Campbellsburg officiated.  Interment was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

Richard Eugene Troxell

 

Richard Eugene Troxell, 73, of Eminence, died Thursday, January 22, 2009, at the Veterans Hospital in Louisville.  A U.S. Marine Veteran, Richard was a machinist and metal fabricator.  He was also a member of the Mt. Gilead Methodist Church.

 

He is survived by his wife: Polly Ellis Troxell, Eminence; four daughters: Rhonda Heightchew and husband, Steve, Pt. Pleasant, Terri LaRoche and husband, Lewis R., Sr., Smithfield, Carmella Kidwell and husband, Eddie, Smithfield, and Frances Dellinger and husband, Paul, Valley Mills, TX; mother: Helen Troxell Adams, Lexington; one sister: Martha Elston, Bethlehem; one brother: Paul Allen Troxell and wife, Kathleen, Maryland; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his father: Rube Troxell and brother-in-law: Bobby Elston.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 25th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Graveside services were held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, August 22nd at the New Castle I.O.O.F. Lodge Cemetery.  Rev. Meredith Trabue, Pastor of the New Castle Main Street Baptist Church, officiated.

She is survived by her father: Robbie Wade, Richmond, VA; her mother: Chrissy Holcomb, Pendleton; one daughter: Haley Ann McLennan, Pendleton; one brother: Joseph Rucker, Pendleton; grandparents: George and Louise Watson, Campbellsburg and Pattie and Lowell Watson, Smithfield.

She is survived by her husband: Sanford Lee Wade; five children: Bernie Wade, Sulphur, Bryan Wade, Elyria, OH, Michelle Boyce, Amelia, OH, Melissa Kody, North Rodgeville, OH and Melodie Joy Willoughby, Waterford, MI.

 

Funeral services were held at 12:00 noon Tuesday, July 12th, at the Eminence United Pentecostal Church in Eminence.

Avery C. Wardrup, 67, of Campbellsburg, died December 2, 2011, at his home.  He was the son of the late Ollie Woodrow and Mary McFarland Wardrup.

Jack Watts

 

Jack Watts, 81, of Pleasureville, died Wednesday, December 26, 2007, at Baptist Hospital Northeast in LaGrange.  He was the son of the late Andrew Jackson and Mary Susan Humphrey Watts, a member of the Pleasureville Baptist Church, a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, a farmer and former employee of Hussey Copper.

 

He is survived by his wife: Bebee Sanford Watts, Pleasureville; one daughter: Marsh Miller, Crestwood; three sons: William Watts, Eminence, Larry Wayne Watts and Richard Scott Watts, both of Pleasureville; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by three brothers: James, Marion and Virgil Watts and three sisters: Ruby, Hazel and Virginia.

 

Funeral Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 29th at the Pleasureville Baptist Church.  Rev. Jerry Anderson, Pastor of the Pleasureville Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Cropper Cemetery.

Lucinda Edgington Way, 96, of Eminence, died Saturday, January 10, 2009, at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Lou Jennings Edgington, a homemaker, a farmer and the oldest member of the Eminence Christian Church.

 

She is survived by two sons: William Way and Donnie Way, both of Eminence; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband: James Curtis Way; two sons: Charles Way and James Curtis Way, Jr.; one daughter: Minnie Tingle and three grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 13th, at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Michael Duncan, Pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Shady Lawn Memorial Gardens in Shelby County.

Claude Gregory Wayne, 52, of Pleasureville, died Monday, June 7, 2004 at his residence.  He was the son of the late Samuel Wayne and a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church.

 

He is survived by his mother: Margaret Armstrong Wayne, Pleasureville; two brothers: Freeman Wayne and James Wayne, both of Pleasureville; one sister: Mary Cull, Frankfort and one niece.

 

Services were held Thursday, June 10th at 1:00 p.m. at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Michael Duncan, Pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, officiated.  Burial was in the Shady Lawn Cemetery.

Barbara Ann Webb

 

Barbara Ann Webb, 75, of Louisville, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Baptist Hospital East.  Born in Louisville, she was the former Barbara Thornhill.  She was a homemaker, a member of the Fern Creek Baptist Church and graduated from DuPont Manual High School in 1955.

 

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Maurice D. Webb; sons: Richard B. Derry (Felicity), Terrill L. Derry (Cindy), and David D. Webb (Vickie); brother: Wallace Thornhill; sister: Beverly Thornhill; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

 

Her funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Burial was in the Campbellsburg Masonic Cemetery.

Chester nelson Webb, 71, of New Castle, died Wednesday, May 213, 2007.  Son of the late Clarence William and Sarah Jane Moore Webb, he was a self-employed fencer.

 

He is survived by his wife: Mattie Webb, New Castle; three daughters: Debbie Koppel and Tina Ball, both of Smithfield, and Sarah Friehat, Louisville; four sons: Kenny Webb, LaGrange, Mark Webb, Smithfield, Michael Webb, Eminence, and Bill Webb, Carrollton; two sisters: Elizabeth Yocum and Nannie Yocum, both of Pendleton; one brother: Bobby Webb, Paducah; thirteen grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.  He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra and one son, Benjamin.

Phyllis Wise Clubb Webster, 59, of LaGrange, died Sunday, December 8, 1996 at her home.  She was a native of Trimble County, the daughter of Richard and Gertrude Leach Wise, a member of the Bedford Baptist Church and a former employee of Canada Wire as a machine operator.

 

She is survived by one son: Joe Clubb, Louisville; four daughters: Regina Frazier, Carrollton; Linda Rynes, Eminence; Becky Sparkman and Trina Fox, both of Bedford; her parents: Richard and Gertrude Wise, Bedford; four sisters: Anna Lee Ralston, Louisville, Patty Leach, New Castle, Peggy Webster, Pendleton and Janet Davis, Lexington, IN; fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11th, at Ransdell Funeral Home.  Bro. Chris Ford officiated.  Burial was in the Bedford IOOF Cemetery.

Priscilla Thompson Weikel, 55, of Clarkson, formerly of New Castle, died Friday, February 10, 2006 at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Elizabethtown.  She was a member of St. Anthony�s Catholic Church and the daughter of the late William Claude E. Thompson.

 

She is survived by her husband: Gene L. Weikel, Clarkson; two sons: William C. Doane, Humble, TX and Robert E. Weikel, Ramstein Air Base, Germany; her mother: Anna Mae Thompson, Clarkson; two sisters: Marilyn (Stanley) Fister, Shelbyville and Essie Sullivan, Corydon, In; dear friend: Kerri Grimland, Ramstein Air Base, Germany; one granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.

 

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 14th at St. John�s Catholic Church, Eminence.  Father Brian A. Johnson, Pastor of St. Anthony�s Catholic Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Michael G. Wells, 46, of Eminence, died Saturday, December 13, 2008, at his residence.  He was the manager of the NAPA Auto Parts Store in Eminence.  He was a member of the Eminence United Methodist Church.

 

He is survived by his daughter: Jessica Wells, Crestwood; his parents: Bill and Lucille �Gin� Horton Wells, Eminence; one sister: Sharon Pearson, Buckner and ex-wife: Tandy Wells, Crestwood.

Charles F. �Charlie� West, 79, of Pleasureville, died Thursday, October 25, 2007, at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  He was a member of the Pleasureville Baptist Church, Henry County DAV and the Eminence Odd Fellow Lodge #140.  He was retired as a corrections officer from the Kentucky State Reformatory and United Furniture Company.  He also served as a U. S. Army Sergeant during the Korean Conflict.

 

He is survived by three sons: Michael West, Owensboro, Timothy West, Hartford, and Charles P. West, Eminence; two brothers: Dr. Frank Figg, Shelbyville and Walter Figg, Cropper; three sisters: Lula Allen, She3lbyville, Georgia �Toots� Browning, Cropper, and Mildred Nichols, Louisville; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife: Phyllis Truman West and two guardians: Mary Figg and Elizabeth fig.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 28th at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Jerry Anderson, Pastor of the Pleasureville Baptist Church, officiated. Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Clyde Thomas West, 56, of Campbellsburg, died at his residence Sunday October 2, 1983.  He was a veteran of WWII and an employee of the L & N Railroad.

Elsie Elizabeth Eddins West, 69, of Campbellsburg, died Monday, April 30, 2007, at Jewish Hospital, Louisville.  She was the daughter of the late Geobel and Lilly Hamilton Eddins and a clerk at Cook�s in Campbellsburg for over 30 years.

 

She is survived by her husband, Jackie M. West, Campbellsburg; two sons: Dennis West (Lee Anne), Shelbyville and Stewart West (Jaci), Lawerenceburg; two sisters: Betty Roberts, Eminence and Joan Wylie, Grafenburg; one brother: Ronnie Eddins, Drennon Springs; and one granddaughter.  She was preceded in death by two brothers: Roy Lee and Howard Eddins.

 

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 3rd at the Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg.  Rev. Carl Rucker officiated.  Interment was in the Campbellsburg Cemetery.

Richard Wheeler, 55, of Louisville, died Monday, February 2, 2009, at Norton Hospital, Louisville.  He was a security guard and had attended the Hopewell Baptist Church in Lacie.  He was the son of the late Frank Wheeler.

 

He is survived by his mother: Elnora Stivers Wheeler, Pleasureville; one sister: Judith Wheeler, Pleasureville; one step-son: Alex Hinkle, Louisville; and caregiver: Sherrie Greer, Louisville.

Beulah Wiley, 97, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, December 4, 2011, at her home.  She was the daughter of the late Silas Curtis and Jennie Pearl Stivers Shuck.

 

She is survived by her sons: Jim Wiley and Gayle Wiley; and her daughter: Frances Nethery, all of Shelbyville.

Fronie Downey Willhite, 76, of Pleasureville, died Saturday, June 11, 2011, at The Richwood in LaGrange.  She was the daughter of the late Marvin D. and Ida Bell Moppins Downey.  She was a homemaker.

 

She is survived by one son: Roy Lee Willhite, Jr., Pleasureville; three daughters: Joan Shinkle and Betty Estes, both of Pleasureville and Ida Bell Downey, Eminence; five brothers: Selbert Downey, Ray Downey and Cecil Downey, all of Bethlehem, marvin Downey, Pleasureville and Ed Downey, Franklinton; two sisters: Maude Morrison and Myrtle Sallee, both of Eminence; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband: Roy Lee Willhite; her brother: Jasper Downey and one sister: Rachel Peyton.

John Douglas �JD� Williams, Jr., 68, of Pendleton, died Wednesday, February 8, 2006 at Jewish Hospital, Louisville.  He was a member of the Buckner Christian Church, a retired mechanic and the son of the late John D. Williams, Sr.

 

He is survived by one son: Jeffrey Williams, Jeffersonville; two daughters: Cynthia Cortner, Princeton and Melinda Townsend, LaGrange; his mother: Mary Lee Williams, Pewee Valley; one brother: Charles Williams, LaGrange; one sister: Tammy (Darrell) Schuler, LaGrange; three step-daughters: Debera and Mona Flowers and Diane Flowers-Brown; friend: Norma Flowers; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Annabelle Guyn �Bee� Wilson, 95, of Smithfield, died Saturday, April 23, 2011.  Annabelle was born in Versailles to the late James Harvey and Ermie Nave Guyn on June 10, 1915.  She was a member of the Eminence Presbyterian Church.

 

She is survived by her daughter: Jane Bell Knapp and husband, Keith, LaGrange; one sister: Dorothy Nave Guyn, Ve4rsailles; three grandchildren: Kyle Knapp, Kathryn Broaddus (Scott) and Kerry Knapp; two nieces: Ann Willhite (Jim) and Sarah Morgan; and two nephews: Lucien Guyn and Robert Guyn (Tami). 

 

Memorial services were held at noon on Saturday, April 30th, at the Eminence Presbyterian Church.

Earl William Wilson, 76, of Pleasureville, formerly of Dante, VA, died Monday, October 17, 2005 at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville.  He was a retired concrete construction foreman and the son of the late Frank B. and Myrtle Gullett Wilson.

 

He is survived by one daughter: Tracey Wilson Dishman, Pleasureville; three sons: William C. Wilson, Gestville, Benjamin Wilson, Huntington, WV and Michael Ambrosius, Orlando, FL; one sister: Glenna Worley, Castlewood, VA; and five grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife: Patricia Ambrosius Wilson, three sisters and one brother.

Robert Winburn, 73, of LaGrange,, formerly of Eminence, died Friday, March 9, 2012, at Baptist Hospital Northeast in LaGrange.  Son of the late Fred and Evelyn Hash Winburn, he was a retired special agent of the U.S. Department of Treasury, Customs Division.  He was a U. S. Navy Veteran and a member of the LaGrange Christian Church.  Robert was a member of the Henry County Historical Society, a contributor to the �History of Henry County 1798-1995� and the author of �USS Sea Cat SS-399: The Boat and Men�

           

He is survived by his wife, Marie Winburn, LaGrange; daughter, Jill Ryan Winburn, Seattle; two sons, Troy Winburn, Marriottsville, MD and Sean Winburn, Calloway, MD; two sisters, Evelyn Christina Parrott Sass and husband, Robert, Pensacola, FL and Brenda Gail Winburn Hartman and husband, Barry, Walton, KY; two brothers, Maurice �Dink� Webb, Louisville and Robert Joseph Parrott and wife, Sherrin, Powell, OH; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Robert was cremated.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.  Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her parents: Mike and Ann Wright; her brother: Steven; her grandmother: Mary Wright; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Catherine Rucker Wood, 81, of Shelbyville, died Friday, January 16, 2009, at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  She was the daughter of the late Ira and Melissa Dearing Rucker, a homemaker and member of the Bagdad Baptist Church.

 

She is survived by two sons: Bobby Wood and Ricky Wood, both of Shelbyville; two daughters: Barbara Adams and Carol �Pat� Whiddon, both of Shelbyville; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband: Arvin L. Wood; three brothers: Forest Rucker, Lloyd Rucker and Robert Rucker; three sisters: Ethel Banta, Hazel Banta and Maud Banta.

She is survived by a daughter: Joyce Whittaker, a son: David Wood (Paula), Louisville; a sister: Doris Evelyn Hood (Glen), Frankfort; a brother: Robert Gardner, Cincinnati, OH; and a sister-in-law: Marcie Gardner, Lawrenceburg, IN.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years: Vernon C. Wood; her parents, a sister and five brothers.

Frances Herndon Taylor Yager, 88, of LaGrange, died Saturday, January 3, 2009.  She was a member of the LaGrange United Methodist Church, a former member of the D. A. R., Oldham County Historical Society and the Mallory-Taylor Hospital Foundation Board.  She was also the daughter of the late Rowan Barclay and Verna Elizabeth Garr Taylor.

 

She is survived by three daughters: Mary �Bunny� Merrick and husband, Roger, Dorothy �Sissy� Monohan and husband, Mike and Elizabeth �Liz� Adams; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Moore Yager.
