Anna Qualls

 

Mrs. Anna Lee Gregory Qualls, 88, of Cheyene, Wyoming, formerly of New Castle, died Friday, March 22, 1985 at the residence of her daughter in Cheyene.  She was a native of Franklin County, a retired high school English teacher, a member of the Bland Ballard DAR and a member of the New Castle Christian Church.

 

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Q. Edwards, Cheyene, WY; one son: Dr. Gene Qualls, Birmingham, AL; two sisters: Mrs. Carlie Harper, Palmetto, FL and Mrs. Frances True, Lawrenceburg and six grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 25th from Prewitt’s, New Castle.  Dr. Clayton Klingenfus, pastor of the New Castle Christian Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Frankfort Cemetery.

D. W. Qualls

 

D. W. Qualls, 94, of New Castle, died Monday evening at the Homestead Nursing Center, New Castle.  He was born July 27, 1885 near Olive Hill in Carter County.  Mr. Qualls was affiliated with the field of education for 71 continuous years.  After retiring from teaching Mr. Qualls served as city judge of New Castle.  He was active in the Red Cross and was a member of the New Castle Christian Church where he served as elder.

 

Mr. Qualls is survived by his wife: Anna Lee Gregory Qualls, New Castle; his son: Dr. Gene Qualls, Sheffield, AL and Zurich, Switzerland; a daughter: Ruth D. Delf Edwards, Cheyene, WY; six grandchildren: Gregory Qualls, Dana Qualls, Lisa Qualls, Beth Delf, Margaret Delf and Wesley Delf; and three sisters: Mrs. Nora Stamper, Garrison, KY, Mrs. Dave Baker, Morehead, KY and Mrs. W. C. Bills, Ashland, KY.  He was preceded in death by his eldest son, James Gregory Qualls.  He was the eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Qualls.

 

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday (today) from Prewitt’s New Castle.  Dr. Clayton Klingenfus, pastor of the New Castle Christian Church, will officiate.  Burial will be in the Frankfort Cemetery.

J. W. Quickert

 

Mr. J. W. Quickert, 73, (1903-1977) of Lockport, died Wednesday, April 20, 1977 at the National Health Enterprises, Louisville.  He was a retired farmer and a member of the Drennon Christian Church.  He had been married 56 years.

 

He is survived by his wife: Mrs. Lillie Welsh Quickert, Lockport, a son: Joseph Quickert, Lockport; three grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

 

The funeral was at 3 p.m. Friday from Prewitt’s was officiated by Rev. Lee Davis Fisher, Somerset, KY, former pastor of the Drennon Christian Church.  Burials was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

Joseph “Tood” Quickert

 

Joseph “Tood” Quickert, 84, of Drennon, died Wednesday, November 1, 2006.  Son of the late J. W. and Lillie Welsh Quickert, he was a farmer and a WWII Army Veteran.  Joe was a member of the Drennon Christian Church.

 

He is survived by his wife: Louise Quickert, Drennon; one daughter: Brenda Raake, and her husband, Gene, New Castle; two sons: Bobby Joe Quickert and wife, Lauraline, and Jerry Quickert and wife, Diane, all of Port Royal; four grandchildren: Duana, Shane, Jason and Ashlee and six great grandchildren: Kaitlann, Devin, Shyann, Shayna, keaten and Autumn.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 4th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Pastor Pat Butcher of the Family Worship Center in Carrollton officiated.

Interment was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

Elmer Quire

 

Elmer D. Quire, 81, of Bedford, died Monday, May 1, 2006, at the Bedford Health Care Center.  He was the son of the late Robert and Annie Pulliam Quire, a member of the Providence Baptist Church and a farmer.

 

He is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Gregg (Mary Ann) Fisher, Bedford, Mrs. Rich (Vicki) Martin and Jenny Gray, both of Louisville; two brothers: Alan Quire, Madison, IN and Frank Quire, Bethlehem; three sisters: Sylvia Chase, Lacine, KS, Mary Baxter, Campbellsburg and Betty Oli9ver, Bethlehem; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife: Christine Rogers Quire, stepson: Carl Quire and two brothers.

 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 4th at Ransdell Funeral Home, Bedford.  Rev. Doug Boyd, Providence Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Bedford I.O.O.F. Cemetery with military honors.

Viola W. Quire

 

Mrs. Viola Webber Quire, 80, of Eminence, died at 1 a.m. Friday at the home of her son, Everett Quire, near Eminence, after an illness of about a year.  She was the daughter of the late Lewis and Margaret Carver Webber.

 

Survivors include three sons: Everett Quire and Chester Quire, Eminence, and Boyd Quire, Frankfort; one daughter: Mrs. Nellie Dailey, Elizabethtown; fifteen grandchildren and thirty six great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, where she was a member.  Rev. M. Snail officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Frankfort.

James Quisenberry

 

Funeral services were conducted at the Baptist Church in Pleasureville at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon for James Quisenberry, 54, (1883-1937), who died at the City Hospital in Louisville at 6 o’clock Monday morning.  Burial was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

 

He is survived by two daughters, Hazel Quisenberry and Mrs. Edith Kistner, both of Louisville; two sons: Cecil Quisenberry, Eminence and Gayle Quisenberry; three sisters: Mrs. Boyd Massie and Miss Kate Quisenberry, both of Louisville and Mrs. William Cockrell, Pleasureville; two brothers: William Quisenberry, Bethlehem and Eunice Quisenberry, Louisville.

William Quisenberry

 

William G. Quisenberry, 84, (1899-1983) of Route 2, Pleasureville, died Thursday, August 25, 1983, at the Methodist Hospital, Louisville, after an illness.  He was a retired farmer and a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Quisenberry.

 

He is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Leonard (Louise) Mitchell, Pleasureville, Mrs. Buck (Mary) Thomas, Frankfort, Mrs. Charlie (Sue) James, Pleasureville and Mrs. Billie Jean Wilson, Louisville; one sister: Mrs. J. B. (Mable) Massie, Louisville; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 27th from Prewitt’s, New Castle.  Rev. Delbert Butts, Louisville, former pastor of the Bethlehem Baptist Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. Steve Kirk, pastor of the Franklinton Baptist Church.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Arthur R. “Buddy” Radcliff

 

Arthur R. “Buddy” Radcliff, 66, of Okolona, formerly of Sligo, died Sunday in Louisville.  His wife, JoAnn, survives.  Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, at the Sligo Baptist Church. Arch L. Heady Okolona Funeral Home, Louisville.

Arthur Radcliff

 

Arthur Forrest “Rat” Radcliff, 94, of Pendleton, died Monday, June 4, 1984 at his home.  He was a member of the Sligo Baptist Church.

 

He is survived by one son: Buddy Radcliff, Pendleton; one daughter, Mrs. Geneva Taylor, Davenport, FL; one grandson and two great-grandsons.

 

Fsuneral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 6th at the Ransdell Funeral Home, Bedford.  Bro. Speegel, Pastor of the Sligo Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Sligo Cemetery.

Herbert A. Radcliff, 69, of Louisville, formerly of Eminence, died last Thursday afternoon at General Hospital in Louisville after an illness of nine weeks.  He was a member of the Baptist Church.

 

Survivors include his wife: Mrs. Belle Stivers Radcliff; two sisters: Mrs. Josephine Clark and Mrs. Julia Kidd, Louisville.

 

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m Monday at Ricketts Funeral Home, Eminence.

Mr. Horace Radcliffe, 87, (1877-1965) New Castle, died Friday the 12th at Central State Hospital.  His father’s name: Richard Ratcliffe and his mother’s name: Mary Flood Ratcliffe.  Birthplace: Henry County. A member of the New Castle Christian Church.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Prewitt Funeral Home, New Castle.  Rev. L. F. Moody, pastor of the New Castle Christian Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. Roud Shaw, Pleasureville.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

William P. Radcliff

 

William Price Radcliff, 91, of Shelbyville, died Thursday, August 15, 1985 at his residence.  He was formerly of Eminence, a retired machinist supervisor at Allison Division General Motors, Indianapolis, and a member of the Highland Baptist Church, Shelbyville.

 

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Anna Stewart Radcliff, Shelbyville and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 17th from Prewitt’s, New Castle.  Rev. William George, pastor of Highland Baptist Church, Shelbyville, officiated, assisted by Rev. Mickeal Duncan, pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church.  Interment was in the Sulphur Cemetery.

Kate Mills Rains

 

Mrs. Kate Mills Rains died suddenly at her home near Franklinton, Saturday, February 4, 1928.  She is survived by her husband: Henry Rains; one son: Fred Rains; three grandchildren; five sisters: Mrs. Bob Bryant, Eminence, Mrs. Watt Clubb, Newport, Mrs. Ed McGowan, Newport, Mrs. Ed Ewing, Point Pleasant and Mrs. John Dowden; two brothers: Sanford Mills, Point Pleasant and Ula Mills, Eminence; one uncle and a number of nieces and nephews.

 

Mrs. Rains was born October 10, 1871 and was married to Mr. H. S. Rains on January 18, 1893.

 

Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church where she became a member at an early age, Monday afternoon, February 6th at 2 o’clock.  Rev. Stith conducted the services.  Burial was in the Franklinton Cemetery.

Nancy Rains

 

Mrs. Nancy Rains, 22, (1916-1948) died Sunday at her home at Port Royal.  She had been ill for five months.  She was a member of the Point Pleasant Christian Church.

 

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the Point Pleasant Christian Church with Rev. J. T. Highfield officiating.  Burial was in the Point Pleasant Cemetery.

 

She is survived by her husband: R. L. Rains; two sisters: Mrs. Ray Hollar, Smithfield and Mrs. Herbert Allen, Jr., Eminence; one niece and four nephews.

Allen Raisor

 

Allen J. Raisor, 72, of Grand Rivers, formerly of Taylorsville, died Saturday, March 31, 2007, in Paducah.  A native of Franklinton, he was the son of the late Willie and Lucy M. Reid Raisor.  He was retired from the US Army having served both during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.  He was also retired from the Kentucky State Police and was a member of AMVETS.

 

He is survived by three daughters: Alline Goldsmith, Patricia Raisor and Dianalyne Mills, all of Louisville; one son: Robert Raisor, Sarasota, FL; two brothers: Phillip W. Raisor, Seattle, WA and Charles M. Raisor, Houston, TX; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 5th at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home, Taylorsville.  Interment was in the Highland Memory Gardens, Mt. Washington.

Anna Martin Raisor, 76, of Campbellsburg, died Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at Norton Audubon Hospital, Louisville.  She was a native of Lockport, daughter of the late Floyd and Frances Aldridge Martin, a homemaker and a member of Oldham Woods Church of Christ, LaGrange.

 

She is survived by her husband, George “Buck” Raisor, Sr., Campbellsburg; three daughters: Frances Murphy, Louisville, Deborah Alderson, Marietta, GA and Sheryl Mathus, Pleasureville; four sons: George Raisor, Jr., Mooresville, IN, Evan Raisor, Pendleton, Jerry Raisor, Campbellsburg and Floyd Raisor, Bowling Green; four sisters: Liza Stephens, LaGrange, Mary Clouse, OH, Jeanie Martin, Eminence and Marie Downey, Defoe; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by one brother.

 

Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 9th, at Sholar Funeral Home.  Bill Allison officiated.  Burial was in the Wallace Cemetery, Lockport.

Catherine Raisor, 69, of Franklinton, died Monday, February 17, 1986 at her residence.

 

She is survived by her husband: Mount Raisor, Franklinton; one brother: Raymond Heightchew, Gratz; and one sister: Mrs. Berta McAlly, Shelbyville.

 

Funeral Services were held Wednesday, February 19th at the Thomas Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Tim Lovett officiated.  Interment was in the Franklinton, Cemetery.

Mrs. Cordie M. Raisor, 57, (1894-1958) of New Castle, died at 5:20 a.m. Tuesday at Mallory-Taylor Hospital, LaGrange, where she had been taken after suffering a stroke several days ago.  She was a member of the Franklinton Baptist Church.

 

She is survived by her mother: Mrs. Mary McGrew, New Castle; one daughter: Mrs. Loren May, Carrollton; two sons: Carroll Raisor and Paul J. Raisor, both of New Castle; two sisters: Mrs. Janie Clark and Mrs. Glenna Holmes, both of New Castle and seven grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, at Shannon-Prewitt Funeral Home, New Castle.  Rev. William E. Hull, pastor of the New Castle Baptist Church, will officiate.  Interment will be in the Franklinton Cemetery.

Elza C. Raisor, 82, of Defoe, died Friday, July 7, 2006, at Baptist Hospital Northeast Hospice Unit.  He was the son of the late John W. and Elizabeth Chadwell Raisor, a member of the Union Baptist Church and a WWII Army Veteran.  He was also a carpenter and a farmer.

 

He is survived by one son: Dewey Raisor, Defoe; one grandson and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Pansy Alice Wentworth Raisor, three sisters and three brothers.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday , July 9th at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Bro. Paul Harvey, Crossroads Lighthouse Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Defoe Cemetery.

Faye Raisor

 

Faye Woods Raisor, 85, of Defoe, died Tuesday, July 18, 2006, at Friendship Manor, Pewee Valley.  She was the daughter of the late Jesse L. and Madge Robertson Woods, a retired employee of Brunswick Bowling and Billiards Co. and a member of the Union Baptist Church.

 

She is survived by two daughters: Charlotte M. Raisor, Campbellsville and Judy L. Mathis, LaGrange; two sons: Ray Raisor, Defoe and William Lee Raisor, Frankfort; ten grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband: Raymond Raisor, one brother and one sister.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 20th at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Fred Raisor, Jr.

 

Fred Raisor, Jr., 71, of Pinetop, formerly of Henry County, died Tuesday, August 15, 2006, at his home.  He was the son of Leona Fitzgerald and Fred and Ida Belle Raisor.

 

He is survived by four sons: Darryl Raisor, Glenn Douglas Raisor Lawrence Dale Raisor and Christopher Lee Raisor; one daughter, Melissa King; one stepdaughter: Betty Lovins; four stepsons: Tommy Fair, Eddie Fair, Elbert Fair, Jr. and Johnny Fair; one sister: Carrie Lee Perry; seven grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren and thirteen step-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife: Maudie Raisor.

 

Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 16th at Mountain Memory Gardens, Hindman.  Richard Spencer officiated.  Arrangements were handled by Hindman Funeral Services.

George M. “Buck” Raisor, Sr., 80, of Campbellsburg, died Friday, November 24, 2006, at Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington.  He was a native of Lockport, the son of the late Quintus and Lucille O’Nan Raisor, a carpenter, and of the Church of Christ faith.

 

He is survived by four sons: George M. Raisor, Jr., Mooresville, IN, Evan Raisor, Pendleton, Jerry Raisor, Campbellsburg and Floyd Raisor, Bowling Green; three daughters: Frances Murphy, Louisville, Deborah Alderson, Marietta, GA and Sheryl Mathus, Pleasureville; one brother: John Raisor, LaGrange; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife: Anna Martin Raisor.

Mrs. Grace Burchell Raisor, 66, (1917-1983) of New Castle, died Thursday, March 3, 1983 at the King’s Daughters Hospital, Shelbyville, after an illness.  She was a native of Huntingsburg, IN and a member of the Eminence Baptist Church.

 

She is survived by two nieces, Mrs. Dave (Doona) Barstow, Galesville, IL and Mrs. Ron (Judy) Fox, Arlington, WA; and one nephew: Richard A. Burchell, Terre Haute, IN.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday March 6th from Prewitt’s, New Castle. Dr. Clayton Klingenfus, pastor of the New Castle Christian Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Franklinton Cemetery.

Henry “Hank” Raisor

 

Henry “Hank” Raisor, 69, of Pendleton, died Tuesday, February 1, 2005, at Hospice and Palliative Care of Louisville Inpatient Unit.  He was retired from Ford Motor Company, a Marine Veteran of the Korean War, and the son of the late Humphrey Jesse and Edith Batterton Raisor.

 

He was survived by three sons: Glen Raisor, Smithfield, Paul Ray Raisor, Taylorsville and Larry L. Raisor, Pendleton; four sisters: Barbara Owens, Smithfield, Jessie Marie Covington and Mrs. Dave (Amanda) Caldwell, both of New Castle and Mrs. Jimmy (Brenda) Kelley, Campbellsburg;  two brothers: Clay Raisor, Shelbyville and Robert Raisor, Eminence and eight grandchildren.  His sister, Juanita Lashley, died just three days later.

 

A memorial graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 4th at Point Pleasant Cemetery.  Rev. Bill Brumley, pastor of the Waddy Baptist Church, officiated.

Mrs. Hester B. Raisor, 50, of Lockport, died Saturday, March 30, 1985, at the Humana Hospital University, Louisville.

 

She is survived by her husband: Leonard B. Raisor, Lockport; four sons: Michael Leon Raisor, Pendleton, John Edward Raisor, Louisville, Carl Anthony Raisor, Pendleton and Robert Raisor, Lockport; one daughter: Mrs. Teresa Raisor McFarland, Louisville; one foster son: Jack E. Bennett, Lockport; eleven grandchildren; her father: Gilbert Bohannon, Lockport; three brothers: Hubert and Frankie Bohannon, both of Pleasureville and Donald Bohannon, Eminence; four sisters: Mrs. Beatrice Quire, Franklinton, Mrs. Elizabeth Adler, Pleasureville, Mrs. Mary Bell Gibson, OH and Mrs. Loretta Bohannon, Crestwood.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 2nd at the Lockport Baptist Church.  Rev. Wayne Kelley officiated, assisted by Rev. Jack Bennett.  Interment was in the Defoe Cemetery.  Thomas Funeral Home, Pleasureville, was in charge of arrangements.

Howard Raisor

 

Howard “Pee Wee” Raisor, 65, of New Castle, died Sunday, January 9, 2005, at Audubon Hospital, Louisville.  He worked maintenance for the Henry County School System, was a farmer, a previous New Castle volunteer fireman, a US Army Veteran, a member of the New Castle United Methodist Church and the son of the late James Howard and Beulah Payton Raisor.

 

He is survived by his wife: Juanita Raisor, New Castle; one daughter: Mrs. Gary (Shirley) Kelley, New Castle; two sons: Howard “Junebug” Raisor, Jr., Campbellsburg and John Raisor, Eminence; three sisters: Mrs. J. C. (Marie) Suter and Mrs. Dale (Charlene) Bays, both of New Castle and Mrs. Jimmy (Barbara) Holcomb, Bedford and four grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday, January 12th) at 1 p.m. at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Gary Polston, pastor of the New Castle United Methodist Church, will officiate.  Burial will be in the New Castle Cemetery.

Mrs. Ida Belle Tingle Raisor, 78, of Franklinton, died suddenly Friday, January 27,1989 at her residence.  She was a native of Henry County and a member of the Drennon Christian Church.

 

She is survived by her husband: Mr. Fred Raisor, Franklinton; one son: Jerry Raisor, Franklinton; one step-daughter: Mrs. Samuel (Carrie Lee) Perry, Pleasureville; one stepson: Fred Raisor, Jr., OH; ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held at2:30 p.m. Sunday, January 29th at the Prewitt Funeral Home, New Castle.  Rev, David James, pastor of the Drennon Christian Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Franklinton Cemetery.

John “Pete” Raisor, 86, of Campbellsburg, died Tuesday, September 13, 1983 at the Baptist East Hospital, Louisville.  He was a retired farmer.

 

He is survived by one daughter: Mrs. Edis (Nellie) Dilk, Greenwood, IN; one son: Clifton C. Raisor, Lawrence, IN; twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

 

Graveside services were held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, September 15th at the Franklinton Cemetery.  Dr. Clayton Klingenfus, pastor of the New Castle Christian Church, officiated.  Prewitt Funeral Home, New Castle, was in charge of arrangements.

Mabel Raisor

 

Mrs. Mabel Clara Raisor, 79, (1902 – February 11, 1982) of Campbellsburg, died Thursday, at the Homestead Nursing Center, New Castle.  She worked at the New Castle Sanitarium for several years as a nurse’s aide and was a member of the Campbellsburg Baptist Church.

 

She is survived by four sons: Noel Raisor, Campbellsburg, Morris Raisor and Donald Raisor, both of Louisville and Kenneth Raisor, Columbus, IN; one daughter: Mrs. Mildred Brewer, LaGrange; fourteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

(She was preceded in death by her husband: Russell L. Raisor.)

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 13th at the Barnett-Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg.  Rev. Roger Winsett, pastor of the Campbellsburg Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Campbellsburg Masonic Cemetery.

Martha Raisor

 

Martha Raisor, 82, of Owenton, died July 20, 2006, at Harborside Healthcare.  Born January 20, 1924 in Henry County, she was an active member of the Owen County Historical Society who was well known for her lemon pie and her volunteer work at the

hospital and Harborside.  Martha was a widow of Howard “Ike” Raisor and the daughter of the late Elick and Hallie Stangle Crawford.

 

She is survived by three sons: Harold Douglas, Mike and Dennis Raisor; two daughters: Brenda Branblett and Debbie Fitzgerald; three brothers: Estill B., Lawrence and Chester Crawford; two sisters: Marybelle Divine and Nancy Ball; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Mattie Raisor

 

Mattie Young Raisor, 98, of Eminence, died Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville.  She was a homemaker, a member of the Henry Christian Church and the daughter of the late William and Lydia McCoy Young.

 

She is survived by two daughters: Mrs. William (Jean) Anspach, Tiffin, OH and Alline Baugh, Eminence; three sons: Ross Raisor and Wayne Raisor, both of Eminence and Billy Ray Raisor, Defoe; one sister: Rosa Brown, Worthville; fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband: Howard Raisor.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 13th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Ed Berry, pastor of the Henry Christian Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. Nick Coleman and Bro. Larry Montgomery, associate pastors of Henry Christian Church.  Interment was in the Point Pleasant Cemetery.

Mrs. Ollie (Adler) Raisor, 74, of Pleasureville, died Tuesday, June 18, 1985, at the King’s Daughters Hospital, Shelbyville.

 

She is survived by four daughters: Mrs. William Finney, Lockport, Mrs. Cordia Beverly, Madison, IN, Mrs. Linda Gilbreath, Shelbyville and Mrs. Betty Brewer, Pleasureville; four sons: Vernon Raisor, Choatesville, KY, Albert Raisor, Madison, IN, William Raisor, Pleasureville and Prentice Raisor, Shelbyville; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two brothers: Blaine Adler and Chester Adler, both of Shelbyville; two sisters: Mrs. Alma Baxter, Bethlehem and Mrs. Elsie Bryant, Pleasureville.

 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 21st at the Thomas Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. C. B. Elliott officiated, assisted by Rev. Eugene Webster.  Interment was in the Point Pleasant Cemetery.

Pansy Raisor

 

Mrs. Pansy A. Raisor, 61, of Hawesville, died Saturday, March 6, 1993, in Tell City, IN.  She was born in Henry County, worked at Lincoln Hills Nursing Home in Tell City and was a member of the New Life Baptist Church near Hawesville.

 

She is survived by her husband: Elza C. Raisor; four sons: Jerry and Mike Whitten, both of Tell City, glenn D. Whitten, Hawesville and Dewey Raisor, Pleasureville; three brothers: Shelby and Robert Earl Wentworth, both of Louisville and Eugene Wentworth, New Castle; three sisters: Galdys Cosby, New Albany, IN, Kathryn Stangle, Eminence and Marie Kelly, New Castle and seven grandchildren.

 

Services are today (Wednesday, March 10th) at 11 a.m. at Gibson and Son Funeral Home, Hawesville.  Graveside services are at 3:30 p.m. today at New Castle Cemetery.

Phillip Raisor

 

Phillip “Woody” Raisor, 56, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, July 24, 2005, at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  He was an employee of Ohio Valley Aluminum Company and the son of the late Humphrey and Nellie McDowell Raisor.

 

He is survived by his wife: Sheila Reynolds Raisor, Shelbyville; two sons: Tracy Raisor, Waddy and Kelly Raisor, Shelbyville; one daughter: Tammy Raisor, Shelbyville; four brothers; seven sisters and seven grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, July 27th) at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home, Shelbyville.  Rev. Bill Brumley will officiate.

Robert A. Raisor

 

Private Robert A. Raisor, 22, (1-21-1934 – 2-11-1956) of Fort Benning, GA, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dorenzo Raisor, Pleasureville, was killed almost instantly late Saturday in an automobile collision near Phenix City, AL.  Five other persons were killed in the wreck including three other soldiers from Fort Benning.

 

Besides his parents he is survived by four sisters: Cordia Ellen Raisor, Louisville, Mrs. Ray Finney, Worhtville, Betty Lou and Linda Sue Raisor, Pleasureville; four brothers: Vernon Raisor, Skylight, Albert Raisor, Buckner, William Francis and Prentice Lee Raisor, Pleasureville and several aunts and uncles.

 

An Army buddy, PFC. Clarence Penette escorted the body to Thomas Funeral Home, Pleasureville, where funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday.  Rev. Edward Schrenier, Fern Creek, officiated.  Interment was in the Point Pleasant Cemetery.

William Raisor

 

William F. “Billy” Raisor, 64, of Pleasureville, died Monday, July 11, 2005, at Jewish Hospital, Louisville.  He was the son of the late Lorenzo Dee and Ollie Adler Raisor, a member of the Pleasant View United Methodist Church and a retired employee of General Electric after 29 years of service.

 

He is survived by his wife: Peggy Raisor, Pleasureville; two daughters: Marla Young, Eminence and Devona Kelley, Shelbyville; three brothers: Vernon Dee Raisor, Lexington, Albert Curtis Raisor, New Castle and Prentice L. Raisor, Shelbyville; three sisters: Willanna Noreen Finney, Lockport, Cordia Ellen Beverly, Shelbyville and Betty Sue Brewer, Pleasureville; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

 

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 14th at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Ed Berry, Henry Christian Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Franklinton Cemetery.

Thomas M. Ramey

 

Mention was made in the last edition of this paper of the serious illness of Mr. Thomas M. Ramey, of Eminence, his disease being pneumonia.  Hopes were then entertained for his recovery, but on Sunday he had a congestive chill and never rallied from it, dying about 6:30 Monday evening.  By his death Henry County lost one of its most useful and most honored citizens.

 

For twenty years he had been identified with the business interests of Eminence, being at the time of his death a member of the firm of Ramey & Woodruff, furniture dealers and funeral directors.

 

Mr. Ramey was 49 years old (November 1, 1852 – December 16, 1901).  He left a wife, who was Miss Gould before marriage, and two daughters and a son.  There are two brothers surviving, James R. Ramey, Carroll and Walter Ramey of Tennessee.  In religion he was a Baptist.

 

The funeral occurred Tuesday at 2 p.m.  The services were conducted by Rev. William Nevins, assisted by Rev. O. M. Hurley, of Carroll County and Walter Ramey of Tennessee.  The only sister is Mrs. R. L. Bond, Carroll County.

Reetta W. Ramsey

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Reetta Webb Ramsey, 84, (January 20, 1857 – August 5, 1941) widow of the late James F. Ramsey, who died Tuesday afternoon, were held at the Campbellsburg Christian Church at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, with Rev. H. W. Elliott officiating.

 

Surviving Mrs. Ramsey are her daughter: Mrs. Ruth Ramsey Hardin, St. Louis, MO; three sons: Everett and Vivian Ramsey, Louisville and W. G. Ramsey, Sulphur, with whom she made her home.

 

Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Sulphur.

Kelly Rankin

 

Kelly Rankin, 88, of Campbellsburg, died Thursday, May 19, 2005, at the Masonic Home in Shelbyville.  He was a member of the Point Pleasant Christian Church and the son of the late Grover and Ethel James Rankin.

 

He is survived by two daughters: Julia Dixon, Eminence and Mrs. Jerry (Becky) Durrett, Eminence; two sons: Raul Rankin, Pleasureville and Jerry Rankin, Campbellsburg; four sisters: Marie McGohon, Lexington, Joyce Dean Feign, Mt. Washington, Susie May Trent, Indianapolis, IN and Louis Perry, Louisville; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife: Lucy Carter Rankin, one daughter: Anna Frances Rankin and one son: Jimmy Rankin.

 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 23rd at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Ron Laughlin, pastor of the Port Royal United Methodist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

Lucy Rankin

 

Lucy Elizabeth Carter Rankin, 85, of Campbellsburg, died Thursday, September 30, 2004 at the Baptist Hospital Northeast.

 

She was a member of the Port Royal United Methodist Church and the daughter of the late Paul and Cordie Lee Carter.

 

She is survived by her husband: Kelly Rankin, Campbellsburg; two daughters: Julia Dixon  and Mrs. Jerry (Becky) Durrett, both of Eminence; two sons: Paul C. Rankin, Pleasureville and Jerry Rankin, Campbellsburg; two sisters: Pauline Gatliff, Louisville and Sadie Thompson, Smithfield; two brothers: Jeff Carter, Carrollton and Carroll Carter, Franklinton; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Anna Frances Rankin and a son Jimmy Rankin.

 

Services were held Monday, October 4th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Officiated by Rev. Ron Laughlin, Port Royal United Methodist Church, assisted by John  Davidson, Port Royal.  Interment was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

Frank C. Rankley, Jr., Route 1, Campbellsburg, died Saturday, April 23, 1983, at his residence.  He was a retired farmer and rural mail carrier and a member of the Campbellsburg Baptist Church.

 

He is survived by his wife: Mrs. Gladys B. Rankley, Campbellsburg; three daughters: Mrs. Laverne Issacs, Centerville, OH, Mrs. Betty Metzmeier, Campbellsville and Mrs. Tommy Holbrook, Morehead and two grandchildren: Jeff Issacs, Centerville, OH and Brad Holbrook, Morehead.

Leah Rankley

 

Leah Mae Barnett Rankley, 93, of Lexington, formerly of Campbellsburg, died Saturday, April 7, 2001.  She was a native of Henry County, the daughter of the late George and Mable Barnett, a homemaker, a former member of the Campbellsburg Baptist Church, a member of the Lexington Federated Music Club, and the Porter Memorial Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir.

 

She is survived by one daughter: Mary Leah Atkinson, Lexington ands two grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry R. Rankley.

 

Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 9th, at Porter Memorial Baptist Church.  Interment was in the Port Royal Cemetery.  W. R. Milward Mortuary-Southland was in charge of the arrangements.

Clarence S. Ransdell, 93, (1867-1961) Campbellsburg, died at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, at Mallory Taylor Hospital, LaGrange.  He was a retired mail carrier.

 

His only survivors are several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Campbellsburg Baptist Church.  Burial was in the Campbellsburg Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife: Mrs. Cordelia Ransdell, Crestview Nursing Home, Shelbyville; one daughter: Mrs. Katherine Vance, Pleasureville; one brother: George t. Ransdell, LaGrange; and one grandson: Robert Vance, Richmond.

She is survived by one daughter: Mrs. Kathryn Vance, Pleasureville; one grandson: Robert Vance, Richmond and one great-grandchild.

Miss Edith Ransdell, 38, (August 27, 1905 – November 20, 1943), Campbellsburg, was killed in an automobile-train crash near Pewee Valley on November 20, 1943.  She was a teacher at the Campbellsburg School.

 

Services for Miss Ransdell were conducted at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jasper B. Ransdell, Campbellsburg, at 3 p.m., Monday, with Rev. Jack T. Akins officiating.  Burial was in the New Castle Cemetery.

 

She is survived by her parents; a sister: Miss Elizabeth Ransdell, all of Campbellsburg; a brother: Morris Ransdell and a niece, Virginia Ransdell, both of Eminence.

J. Vernon Ransdell, Jr.

 

J. Vernon Ransdell, Jr., 31, (1912-1943), Campbellsburg, was killed in an automobile-train crash near Pewee Valley on November 20, 1943.  He was the proprietor of a general store in Campbellsburg.

 

Services for Mr. Ransdell were conducted at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, at the Campbellsburg Baptist Church, with Rev. W. T. Holland, former pastor, officiating, assisted by Dr. S. L. Staley and Rev. Jack T. Akins.  Burial was in the Campbellsburg Cemetery.

 

He is survived by his mother: Mrs. Grace Ransdell, and a sister: Miss Minnie Elizabeth Ransdell.

Joseph “Joe” D. Ransdell, 69, (November 23, 1912 – March 20, 1982) of Port Royal, died Saturday, March 20, 1982 at the King’s Daughters Hospital, Madison, IN after an illness.  He was a retired farmer and attended the Port Royal Methodist Church.

 

He is survived by his wife: Mrs. Mary Gladys Crouch Ransdell, Port Royal; one sister: Mrs. Martha D. Bertelson, Frankfort, IN; one brother: Leon Ransdell, Turners Station; two grandchildren: Larry Garriott, Port Royal and Lance Garriott, Turners Station and one great-granddaughter: Laura Ashley Garriott, Port Royal.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 22nd from Prewitt’s, New Castle.  Rev. Carl Rucker, pastor of the Campbellsburg Christian Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

Minnie Ransdell

 

Mrs. Minnie Robinson Ransdell, 67, (1878-1944) died at the Baptist Hospital, Louisville, at 1 p.m. Monday.  She had been in failing health for several months and suffered a stroke on Wednesday, September 13th, and on Thursday was removed to the hospital.  She was a faithful member of the Methodist Church.

 

She is survived by her husband: Frank Ransdell; four daughters: Mrs. G. A. McMath, Indianapolis, Mrs. Milford Miller, Covington, Mrs. Irvin Adams, Campbellsburg and Mrs. James Boyer, Louisville; a son: Langdon B. Ransdell, Louisville; a sister: Mrs. M. L. Barnett, Campbellsburg and five grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, at the Turners Station Methodist Church with Rev. Parrish officiating.  Burial was in the Turners Station Cemetery.

Mary Ratcliffe

 

Mrs. Mary Ratcliffe, 90, died at her home on the Sulphur-New Castle Pike, on Friday, January 10, 1941.  She had lived at this home for 67 years.

 

She is survived by a half-brother: Joe Flood; a son: Horace Ratcliffe and a daughter, Mrs. Lelia Brown, LaGrange.

 

Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, January 12th, in the New Castle Christian Church.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.
