Bessie Abbott

 

          Bessie Lee Abbott, 94, of Gallatin TN, died Monday, December 17, 2001, at Sumner Medical Regional Medical Center, Gallatin.  She was a native of Henry County, the daughter of the late Nannie Lee Pruitt and Newton Jasper Jeffries, Sr., a homemaker, and a member of the LaGrange First United Methodist Church.

            She is survived by two sons: Ben Harrod Abbott, Woodstock, GA and Donald Keith Abbott, Gallatin, TN; one brother: John Richard Jeffries, Sulphur; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 10:oo P.m. Friday, December 21st, at Arch L. Heady Radcliffe Funeral Home, LaGrange.  Rev. John Kerce officiated.  Burial was in the Louisville Memorial Gardens East.

Charles Acree

 

          Charles W. Acree, 80, of LaGrange, died Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at LaGrange.  He was a native of Oldham County, the son of the late Jack and Bertha Oldham Acree, a U. S. Army veteran, employed on the assembly line at Cissell Company, and a member of the LaGrange Heights Baptist Church.

            He is survived by three sons: Butch Acree, Louisville, Doug Acree, LaGrange and Bubby Acree, Smithfield; one daughter: Cricket Callis, Smithfield; two brothers: Robert Acree and Abb Acree, both of Pendleton; three sisters: Catherine Stoess, Crestwood, Juanita Pyles, Campbellsburg and Eldena Ash, Louisville; sixteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Achie Acree.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 7th at Arch L. Heady Radcliffe Funeral Home, LaGrange.  Rev. Chris Young, Pastor of the LaGrange Heights Baptist Church, officiated.  Burial was in the Valley of Rest Cemetery, LaGrange.

Inez Hancock Adams

 

            Inez Hancock Adams, 87, of Louisville, formerly of Sulphur, died Wednesday, May 1, 2002 at Baptist Hospital East, Louisville.  She was a native of Trimble County, the daughter of the late Claude and Frances Toombs Hancock,

            She is survived by two daughters: Marion (Hubert) Louden, Sr., Louisville and Dorothy (Ray) Highfill, Campbellsburg; two sons: John W. Adams, Sulphur and James R. Adams, Louisville; two step-daughters: Margie Hale and Betty Dollar, both of Columbus, GA; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, William Bill Adams and one son, William Adams, Jr.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 4th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home, New Castle.  Rev. Nick Coleman, Sulphur, officiated.  Interment was in the Sulphur Cemetery.

John Adams

 

          John W. Adams, 88, of College Park, GA, died Saturday, February 9, 2002.  He was a native of Henry County, the son of the late Bernice and Florence L. Adams.

            He is survived by one daughter: Cheryl (Jerry) Fortner, College Park, GA; four sons: John W. Adams, Jr., Loganville, GA, Bob Adams, Fort Myers, FL, Butch Adams, Grantville, GA and Roger Adams, Orlando, FL; two sisters: Gladys Bramblett, Pleasureville and Edith Tennill, New Castle; two brothers: Robert Adams, New Castle and Thomas Adams, Corydon, In; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Adams.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 11th at Enon First Baptist Church.  Rev. Jeff Vaughn officiated.  Interment was in the Enon Baptist Church Cemetery.  Parrot Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

James Aldridge

 

          James Peel Aldridge, 97, of Louisville, formerly of Port Royal, died Wednesday, February 27, 2002 at Meadowview Health and Rehab Center, Louisville.  He was the son of the late Sanford Lee and Mary James Peel Aldridge and retired from the Falls City Brewing Company.

            He is survived by one daughter: Marge (Booby) Goettel, Jeffersontown; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian C. Schrieber Aldridge.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 1st, at Owen Funeral Home, Jeffersontown.  Nelson Martin, Pastor of the Highland Christian Fellowship, officiated.  Burial was in the Louisville Memorial Gardens East.  Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville, was in charge of arrangements.

Vernon Aldridge

 

          Vernon C. Aldridge, 82, of Shelbyville, died Friday, April 27, 2001 at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville.  He was a native of Henry County, the son of the late John J. and Elizabeth brown Aldridge, a Navy Veteran of WWII, a retired mechanic from V. V. Cooke and Montgomery Chevrolet and a member of the Elmburg Baptist Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Geneva O’Nan Aldridge, Shelbyville; three sons: Robert G. Aldridge, Frankfort, Darrell Allen Aldridge, Bagdad and Tom Aldridge, Shelbyville; two daughters: Barbara Jean (Carter) Stivers, Shelbyville and Diane (Stanley) Louden, Sulphur; one sister: Evelyne (Rollie) Armstrong, Elmburg; fourteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 30th at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Carl Rucker officiated.  Burial was in the Defoe Cemetery.

Christine Allen

 

          Christine Elizabeth Melear Way Allen, 90, of New Castle, died Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at the Hurstbourne C are Center in Louisville.  She was a member of the New Castle First Baptist Church and an employee at Shopper’s Mart in Eminence for 31 years.  Christine was the daughter of the late Peter and Lilia Mae Hayden Melear, Jr.

            She is survived by her daughter: Patricia Ann (Jim) Haase, Frankfort; granddaughter: Jo Anne (Scott) Coblin Tingle, Frankfort; two great-grandsons: Matthew and Nathan Tingle; and sister-in-law: Doris Feign, Mt. Washington;

          Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 23rd at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Carroll Annis, Jr.

 

          Carroll Dean “Punkin” Annis, Jr., 24, of Port Royal died suddenly Saturday. September 29, 2001 in Port Royal.  He attended the port Royal Baptist and Methodist Churches.

            He is survived by his wife: Duana M. Annis, Port Royal; one son: Devin Tyler Annis, Port Royal; his mother: Kathy Hawkins, Port Royal; his father: Carroll Dean Annis, Sr., LaGrange; his step-mother: Lisa Annis, LaGrange; step-father: Wendell Hawkins, Port Royal; three sisters: Nioka Crawford, Gallatin County, Stacey (Paul) Shuler, LaGrange, and Kassie Hawkins, Port Royal; two brothers: Aaron Hawkins, Port Royal and Jakob Bragdon, LaGrange; grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Frazier, Carrollton, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Annis, LaGrange, Mr. and Mrs. William Van Hawkins, Port Royal and Mr. and Mrs. Nolan Smith, Centerfield; great-grandparents: Ruby Gividen, LaGrange and Mrs. and Mrs. G. W. Arnold, Lockport.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 2nd at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Rev. Carl Rucker, Pastor of the Port Royal Baptist Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. Ron Laughlin, Pastor of the Port Royal United Methodist Church.  Interment was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

Margaret Arington

 

          Margaret Mae Yeary Arington, 76, of Eminence, died Friday, March 26, 2004, at Homestead Nursing Center, New Castle.  She was the daughter of the late Neil and Dora Samford Yeary, a homemaker, and a member of the Christiansburg Christian Church.

            She is survived by her husband: Jesse Arington, Eminence; four sons: Randy Arington and Mike Arington, both of Shelbyville, Davy Arington, Eminence and Kenny Arington, Murray; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 29th at Shannon Funeral Home, Shelbyville.  Rev. Michael Duncan and Rev. Bill Brumley officiated.  Interment was in the Grove Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville.
