Edward Cain

 

          Edward F. Cain, 78, of Louisville, died Sunday, January 14, 2001 at Parkway Medical Center, Louisville.  He was a native of Henry County, the son of the late Charles and Maude Cain, and a painter.

            He is survived by three sons: Michael J. Cain, Clarksville, IN, Darryl Cain and Rodney D. Cain, both of Louisville; four daughters: Linda Cardwell, Louisville, Patsy Guenther Logston, Brandenburg, Sarah Lee Hensley, Burkesville and Penny G. Medley, Ekron; one brother: Charles Cain, Bedford; thirteen grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Aileen Marlett Cain.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 17th at Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg.  Burial was in the Campbellsburg Cemetery.

Wallace Calhoun

 

          Wallace Earl Calhoun, 65, of Sulphur, died Sunday, April 15, 2001 at his residence.  He was a native of Trigg County, the son of the late Fay Wallace and Pearl Cooper Calhoun, a member of the Navy, a retired employee of Ford Motor Company and a member of the Smithfield Baptist Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Wanda Hughes Calhoun, Sulphur; two sons: Russell Calhoun, Houston, TX and Dwayne Calhoun, Louisville; one daughter: Cheryl Henderson, Dallas, TX; two brothers: Herbert Calhoun, Cadiz and John Calhoun, Hopkinsville and two grandchildren.     

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 18th at the Arch L. Heady Radcliffe Funeral Home, LaGrange.  Rev. Ed Life, Pastor of the Smithfield Baptist Church and Gary Hughes, Auburn Baptist Church, officiated..  Burial was in the Highland Memory Gardens, Mt. Washington.

Betty Carder

 

          Betty Jean Carder, 76, of Campbellsburg, died Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at her residence.  She was a native of Carroll County, the daughter of the late Arthur and Nellie Williams Hughes, and a member of the Bedford Christian Church.

            She is survived by her husband: James Carder, Campbellsburg; two sons: Ronnie E. Carder, Longmont, CO and Gary L. Carder, Bedford; one daughter: Debbie Carder Ivey, Walton; one sister: Geraldine Fothergill, Louisville; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., May 8th, at Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg.  Dr. David Cooper and Rev. Eddie Parker officiated.  Burial was in the Campbellsburg Cemetery.

G. W. Carter

 

          G. W. Carter, 81, of Pleasureville, died Tuesday, June 18, 2002 at his residence.  He was the son of the late J. W. and Emma Case Carter and retired lineman for Kentucky Utilities.

            He is survived by two sons: Jimmy Carter, Kathlene, FL and Robert W. Carter, Pleasureville; one daughter: Betty Rucker, Jeffersontown; one sister: Bernice Stivers, Madison, IN; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 20th, at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Burial was in the Defoe Cemetery.

James Chisholm

 

          James W. Chisholm, 88, of Frankfort, died Thursday, June 20, 2002 at the Heritage Hall Care Center, Lawrenceburg.  He was a native of Lockport, the son of the late David and Nora Bell Beverly Chisholm, the retired owner and operator of the Plaza Barber Shop and a member of the Bellepoint Baptist Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Virgie Chisholm, Frankfort; one daughter: Carol Jones, Frankfort; one son: James Lawrence Chisholm, Knoxville, TN; three sisters: Betty Grubbs, Texas, Mary Lawrence Dawson, Frankfort, and Naomi Ethington, Defoe; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 24th, at LeCompte-Johnson-Taylor Funeral Home, Frankfort.  Rev. Bobby Brooks officiated.  Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Gardens, Frankfort.

Ronald Gordon, Sr.

 

          Ronald Gordon, Sr., 74, of Eminence, died Saturday, September 29, 2012, at his residence.  Son of the late William and Anna Holup Gordon, he retired as a supervisor for Leggett and Platt.  Ronald was a Veteran of the U. S. Army and a member of the Eminence Baptist Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Sue Gordon, Eminence; his daughter: Deneen (Ray) Wilson, Campbellsburg; one son: Ronnie (Anna) Gordon, Shelbyville; two brothers: Levi (Norma) Gordon and Eddie (Judy) Gordon, all of Eminence; two grandchildren: Cody Gordon and Katie Gordon; one great-granddaughter: Alli Gordon and four step-great grandchildren: Kane Stewart, Kassie Bruner, Kambron Bruner and Alexis Woods.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 2nd at prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Rev. Michael Duncan, Pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Michael Lynn Gravitt

 

          Michael Lynn Gravitt, 59, of Eminence, died Monday, October 29, 2012, at his residence.  He was a member of the Eminence United Pentecostal Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Regina Chisholm Gravitt, Eminence; one son: Michael Ray Gravitt, Eminence; two daughters: Heather Roberts, Danville and Raven Sky Gravitt, Eminence; his mother: Manila Mae Dorton Gravitt, Frankfort; one brother: Orville Mason Gravitt, Jr., Frankfort; and two grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his father, Orville Mason Gravitt, Sr.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November1st at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Robert Eades, Pastor of the Eminence United Pentecostal Church, officiated.  Burial was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Robert Grant Hall, Sr.

 

            Robert Grant Hall, Sr., 80, of Eminence, died Friday, May 7, 1976 at Veterans Hospital, Louisville.  He was a retired farmer and a member of the Point Pleasant Christian Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Bonnie Clark Hall, Eminence; three daughters: Louise (Robert) Sumser, Louisville, Bobbie Lee Natterman, Louisville, and Viola (Henry) Wardle, Lexington; two sons: Robert Grant Hall, Jr., Campbellsburg and James Hall, Cincinnati, OH; three sisters: Virgie Dailey, Louisville, Ada Birdwhistle and Katie Byrn, Sarasota, FL; one brother: Charles H. Hall, Amorialla, TX; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

            The funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Wayne Bell, Pastor of the Point Pleasant Christian Church and Rev. Eddie Phoenix, pastor of the Eminence Christian Church, officiated.  Burial was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Mary Harrell

 

          Mary Elizabeth Frankum Harrell, 70, of Porrt Royal, died Saturday, June 1, 2002 at Baptist Hospital East Pallative Care, Louisville after a long illness.  She was a native of Warren County, the daughter of the late Chester Frankum, a retired clerk at Hawkins Farm Center for twelve years and a member of Hillsdale Baptist Church, Louisville.

            She is survived by her husband: Richard S. Harrell, Port Royal; five daughters: Judy (Raymond) Spencer, Brenda (Joseph R.) Morrison, and Linda Warfield, all of Louisville; Mary (Floyd) Irwin, LaGrange and Myra (Jimmy) Kolle, Buckner; one son: Donald Hardy, Buckner; her mother: Laura Petty, Peru, IN; two brothers: James W. Frankum, Peru, IN and Jerry Mitchell, Louisville; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. June 5th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Carl Rucker, Pastor of the Port Royal Baptist Church, officiated, assisted by Wendell Berry, Port Royal.  Interment was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

Roscoe Hawkins

 

          Roscoe Chelton Hawkins, 80, of Smithfield, died Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at his residence.  He was a native of Henry County, the son of the late Albert and Mary Etta Hardesty Hawkins, a US Army Veteran of WWII and a self-employed masonry contractor.

            He is survived by one son: Terry �Tug� Hawkins, Smithfield; two daughters: Jean Hedges, Louisville and Dena Carwley, Smithfield; one sister: Frances Dossett, Pewee Valley; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 14th at Arch L. Heady Radcliffe Funeral Home, LaGrange.  Bro. James Wilson officiated.  Burial was in Louisville Memorial Gardens East.

Lucy Henson

 

          Lucy Ellen Jeffries Hanson, 93, of LaGrange, died Monday, June 17, 2002 at Tri-County Baptist Hospital, LaGrange.  She was a native of Shelby County, the daughter of the late J. W. and Ida Mae Jessie Jeffries, a cook at the old Mallory-Taylor Hospital and a member of the Smithfield Baptist Church.

            She is survived by two sons: Cecil Henson, PA, and Ernie Henson, LaGrange; six daughters: Mable Fultz and Jean McIntosh, both of Crestwood, Barbara Jeffries, Eminence, Frances Stough, Pendleton, Lola Abney and Hazel White, both of LaGrange; thirty-six grandchildren; sixty-two great-grandchildren and twenty great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James �Jake� Henson, one son, Chuck Henson and one daughter, Bertha Woosley.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 21st at Arch L. Heady Radcliffe Funeral Home.  Burial was in the Valley of Rest Cemetery, LaGrange.
