First Generation

1.  Benjamin Head PERRY Jr. was born on 12 Jan 1777 in Spotsylvania Co., Virginia.  One source indicates that he was born in June. The 1880 census for his sons, Benjamin H. Perry and Thomas Jefferson Perry, indicates that he was born in Virginia.

He resided at his farm in Henry Co., Kentucky in 1810.  He is shown on Page 365 of the census, along with his father. The census shows two males < 10 (Washington, Thomas), one male 26-44 (Benjamin), two females <10, and one female 26-44.  He was Baptist from 1813 to 1840 in Port Royal, Henry Co., Kentucky.  He (and/or this father) was a member of the Cane Run Baptist Church of Port Royal in 1813. Other members were John McAndrews, William P. Yarbrough, Benjamin Johnson, Rosanna McGuire, Lucy McAndrews, Mary (Head?) Perry (his mother?), and Lucy Yarbrough.  He resided at his home in Port Royal, Henry Co., Kentucky in 1820.  Benjamin Sr., Benjamin Jr., Elijah, and Joseph Perry all lived near each other in Henry County, Kentucky in 1820.

He resided at his home in Henry Co., Kentucky in 1830.  He lived near his father, Benjamin, Sr.  He bought a 74 acres of land on 1 Aug 1838 in Scott Co., Indiana.  He patented the West Half of the North West Quarter of Section 4 of Township 3-N of Range 7-E of the 2nd Prime Meridian consisting of 40 acres on 1 August 1838 (possibly September 1836). The land was registered at Jeffersonville, Indiana. Benjamin H. Perry, Roderick Perry, William Perry, Robert H. Wilson, Thomas B. Wilson, Joseph Wilson and Patrick Wilson all had farms very near each other. This exact land was later sold to James Harvey Wilson of Scott County, Indiana.

He is refered to as Benjamin Head Perry of Henry Co., Indiana. There is a record of Josiah Perry purchasing land in Henry Co., Indiana in 1835, but his relationship is unknown.

The actual certificate of land transfer reads:

He resided at his farm in Henry Co., Kentucky in 1840.  He resided at his farm in District 1 near his brother George Perry in Henry Co., Kentucky in 1850.  His real estate was worth $3300 and his personal estate was not reported according to the 1850 census.

He died on 24 Dec 1856 in Henry Co., Kentucky.  He was buried after 24 Dec 1856 in Henry Co., Kentucky.  He is buried at the Port Royal Baptist Church Cemetery.  The 1810 census extract shows that Benjamin Jr., was actually older than Benjamin, Sr.

The land transaction indicates that his middle name is "Head".

Benjamin Head PERRY Jr. and Jemima STEWART were married on 21 Jul 1802 in Henry Co., Kentucky.  There was a marriage of Benjamin Perry to Elizabeth Madras on 21 September 1805 in Campbell County, Kentucky. There is a record of a marriage of Benjamin Perry to Mrs. Betsy Nelson on 31 December 1809 in Shelby County, Kentucky.  Jemima STEWART (daughter of John STEWART and Sarah __________?) was born on 22 May 1779 in Fauquier Co., Virginia.  The 1880 census for her son, Benjamin H. Perry, indicates that she was born in Kentucky. But the 1880 census for her son Thomas Jefferson Perry indicates the she was born in Virginia.

She died on 16 Jul 1834 in Port Royal, Henry Co., Kentucky.  She is not listed in the 1850 census.

She was buried after 16 Jul 1834 in Henry Co., Kentucky.  She is buried at the Port Royal Baptist Church.  The census shows 2 males < 10, 1 male 26-44, two females <10, and one female 26-44.  Benjamin Head PERRY Jr. and Jemima STEWART had the following children:

PERRY III was born on 19 Mar 1813 in Henry Co., Kentucky.  He resided at his father's farm in Henry Co., Kentucky in 1850.  He resided at his farm in Port Royal, Henry Co., Kentucky in 1860.  The ages of Benjamin (58), Greenup (52), Sarah (45) and Lucy (42) are recorded different than more certain data.

His real estate was valued at $5,500, and personal estate at $10,000 in 1860.

He resided at his home in Port Royal, Henry Co., Kentucky in 1880.  He is recorded as 71 years old, or born in 1808/09. He is living with his borther Green (or Greenup) and sister Lucy. Living in his home are A. Dandridge, 50 years old, a wash woman and black, and Lizzie Dandridge, 90 years old, from Virginia and black. He lived very near his brother Thomas Jefferson Perry.

The 1880 census for Port Royal, Henry County, Kentucky lists a Perry Milton on the same page as Benjamin H. Perry. So, the source of the Thomas Milton Wilson middle name may have been this family. Perry Milton was born in 1836/37 in Kentucky. He was married to Frances. In Jericho, Henry County, Kentucky is listed Robert J. Milton, born in 1806/07 in Kentucky (his parents were born in Virginia).

He died on 3 Mar 1885 in Kentucky.  He was buried after 3 Mar 1885 in Henry Co., Kentucky.  He is buried at the Port Royal Baptist Church Cemetery.  On 10 July 1856 James Harvey Wilson purchased the west half of the northwest quarter of Section 4 of Township 3-N of Range 7-E in Scott County which contained 80 acres for $400 from Benjamin H. Perry of Henry County, Kentucky.  It is unsure which Benjamin this was.

10            ix.    Sarah PERRY was born on 14 Jun 1815 in Henry Co., Kentucky.  She resided at her father's home in Henry Co., Kentucky in 1850.  Greenup, B.A., Sarah (Sally) and Lucy all lived with their father.

She resided at the farm of her brother, Benjamin Perry in Port Royal, Henry Co., Kentucky in 1860.  She died on 19 Jun 1872 in Kentucky.  She was buried after 19 Jun 1872 in Henry Co., Kentucky.  She is buried at the Port Royal Baptist Church Cemetery.  Since her tombstone indicates Perry as her surname, she may never have married.

11             x.    Lucy PERRY was born on 19 May 1816 in Henry Co., Kentucky.  She resided at her father's home in Henry Co., Kentucky in 1850.  Greenup, B.A., Sarah (Sally) and Lucy all lived with their father.
