The said pensioner had enlisted on February 10 of the year 1776 for a tour of one years duration to serve under the command of Captain John Nelson in his rifle company in the Fourth Regiment of the Pennsylvania Line to serve under the command of Colonel John Dekoss and they first made a march to Lower Canada and then they marched from there back to Ticonderoga. They then marched to Philadelphia and there he received an honorable discharge by Captain John Nelson between the twelfth or the fifteenth of the month of March of the year 1777.

The said pensioner was born in Frederick County in the state of Maryland in the year 1754. Thomas Emerson swears that at one time they both well and favorably acquainted with him and he also states that in the neighborhood in which he resided he was reputed to have served in the War of the Revolution on the side of the United States of America. Thomas Barr, assistant Judge of Pickaway county in the state of Ohio, swears that at one time he was both well and favorably acquainted with him and he also states that in the neighborhood in which he resided he was reputed to have served in the War of the Revolution on the side of the United States of America. He stated this in open court and upon his oath.

At the time of this application the said pensioner was at the age of 69 years. By trade he was a common labourer. The said pensioner was on the Ohio roll of Pensions at the rate of $8.00 per month to commence on May 16 of the year 1818 and his certificate of pension for that amount had been issued on November 12 of the year 1818 and it had there upon been sent to Thomas Barr, esquire, at Pickaway county in the state of Ohio.
