John died in April 1866 according to Pleasant Grove Church membership records. (He was my GGGGrandfather) Nancy, wife of John L. Wicks married 10 Jan.1822 in Hopkins County, was Nancy Cook, daughter of Johnston Cook, and Delilah Stafford. It is assumed that Nancy was born in Rowan County, NC. Nancy died 15 Oct.1855 of Typhoid, and buried in Prospect Cemetery in Hopkins County. The child Angeline Wicks, born 1831 in Christian County, married David M./W. Vincent 27 Oct.1860 Hopkins County. The child Mary Ann Wicks, born 15 Jan. 1838, in Hopkins County, married 26 Jan. 1858 in McLean County KY to Silas A. Rickard. She died 15 Oct.1876 in McLean County, and buried at Free Union Cem., in McLean County. The child Joseph Terry Wicks, was born 9 Sep.1841 in Hopkins County, married 4 Oct.1870 Hopkins County, to Mary Agnes Yates. A story of the tradgey was recorded in The Hustler, on that date. The child James Fountain Wicks, born 1843, married 31 Oct.1861 in Hopkins County to Mary E. Watson. He married 2nd, on 25 Oct.1866 in Webster County, to Nancy Jane Morehead, daughter of Dr. James Morehead and Patience Sigler. James F. Wicks served in the Civil War--Co.A, 17th KY Vol. Cav. He died 22 Jan. 1885 in Webster County, and is buried in Old Cedar Grove Cem., near Tilden. (He was my GGGrandfather) The child Artimissa married 2 Aug.1860 to James E. Jones.
