Downtown Dawson Springs

Arcadia Road is that section of road where Hwy 109 and Hwy 62 run together and runs thru part of the downtown area of Dawson Springs. This is the square. Well, not really a 'square'. There are several small businesses located in this 1 block area, and also several empty buildings. The trees on the left in the top photo are in a park that runs the length of this block that contains the Dawson Springs War Memorial.

You can see Dollar General Store behind the service station. Siding was put on the end of this building and recently [early 2000] they were forced to remove the siding by the historical preservation folks. Dawson Springs just received a grant [May 2000] to revitalize much of the downtown area. I'm not sure what all that will include but sidewalks and lighting were mentioned in the paper when the grant was announced.

The bottom photo is the same view taken from the top of Arcadia Hill Cemetery.
