Amos Goodwin, the above named soldier, applied for pension in Jefferson County, Kentucky in September 1932.  He made declaration that he is a resident of said county and is 66 years of age, that he formerly resided in Culpepper County, Virginia.  In the fall of 1779 when about 13 years of age, he enlisted in Captain Mark Thomas's Company of Virginia for the line of the army of the Revolutionary War, and a few days afterward he and another force were sent to drive cattle through the wilderness to Kentucky where they arrived at the Crab Orchard and remained till the spring of 1780 when the company arrived and having descended the river.  He served till the close of the year 1781 and was discharged.

The widow, Elizabeth Richardson, applied for a pension in Jefferson County, Kentucky on 28 Feb 1834.  She made declaration that her husband died 07 Jun 1850 (unsure which of these two dates is incorrect).  She states she is a resident of said county and is 63 years of age.  This application was made before E. Garland, Justice of the Peace, and witnessed by A. F. Vance, and Christopher M. Thurston, Jr., and certified by Curran Pope, Clerk.

Mather Raugh made affidavit on 15 Apr 1753 that he is acquainted with the applicant, Amos Goodwin, and his widow Elizabeth Goodwin.  He became acquainted with them about twenty years ago and was acquainted from that time up to the death of Amos Goodwin and is still acquainted with Elizabeth Goodwin, his widow.  This affidavit was made in Jefferson County, Kentucky.

There is on file a copy of the marriage license for the marriage of Amos Goodwin and Elizabeth McCollister.  The marriage license was given 18 Aug 1834 in Harrison County, Indiana.

Amos Goodwin of Jefferson County, Kentucky, who was a private in the company commanded by Captain Thomas of the Regiment of Major Slaughter of the Virginia Line for two years from 1779 and was inscribed on the Pension Roll of Kentucky Agency to commence on 06 Nov 1832, and sent to Henry Northrup at Louisville, Kentucky.

Elizabeth Goodwin, widow of Amos Goodwin, was inscribed on the Pension Roll of Kentucky Agency to commence on 03 Feb 1853.  Certificate of Pension was issued on 16 Jul 1853.
