The above soldier applied for a pension in Jefferson County, Kentucky on 13 Apr 1818, before Alfred Metcalfe, circuit judge and made affidavit that he was appointed ensign in Captain John Metzer's Company of Infantry till February 1777 when he was appointed  and commissioned as a Lieutenant in Captain Moore Fontleroy's Troop of Light Deagoons in the third regiment of Dragoon's commanded by Colonel Stephen Moyland in the same year.  Because of the resignation of Captain Fontleroy, he was appointed by regimental orders to the command of the troops which he continued till June 1779, when he left the army by resignation.  From the first of January 1776 till June 1779, he served in the Revolutionary War on the Continental Establishment.

Major William Taylor made affidavit of being well acquainted with the applicant, George Gray, and to the truthfulness of his statements, on the same date, in Jefferson County, Kentucky.

George Gray of Jefferson County, Kentucky who was a Captain in the regiment commanded by Colonel Mayland of the Pennsylvania line for 2 years was inscribed on the Pension Roll of the Kentucky Agency to commence on 30 Apr 1818.  Certificate of Pension was issued on 10 Feb 1819.
