John Humfres,  the above named soldier applied for a pension in Jefferson County, Kentucky on 14 Aug 1832, before Thomas F. Crittenden, Judge of the Jefferson County, Kentucky.  He made declaration that he is 69 years of age, that he enlisted on 09 Apr 1779 in the Continental Service of the United States in Captain Adam Wallace's Company in the Eleventh Virginia Regiment and served in that regiment till Bluford's Defeat.  After which time he served under Captain Wilson till 25 Oct 1780, when he was discharged by Absalom Bluford, Colonel of the regiment at Hillsborough, North Carolina and served in the Militia till the end of the war.   His name was placed on the pension list 09 Feb 1819.   This affidavit was made before Warden Pope, Clerk.

John Humfres, who was a private in the company commanded by Captain Wallace of the regiment commanded by Colonel Bluford in the Virginia line for 18 months from April 1779 was inscribed on the Pension Roll of Kentucky to commence on 04 Mar 1831.  Certificate of the pension was issued on 28 Sep 1832.
