Thomas Kelly applied for a pension in Jefferson County, Kentucky on 15 Feb 1821, and made declaration that he is about sixty years of age, that he enlisted for three years in the Revolutionary War in Pennsylvania at the age of 16 years.  He belonged to David Scott's Company in the thirteenth Virginia Regiment on the Continental Establishment commanded by Colonel John Gibson and was discharged by him for having served the whole period of service west of the mountains.   Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was headquarters.  He was marched in McIntosh's Campaign.  He assisted in building the forts of McIntosh and Lawrence of the Tuscarona River.  He assisted to build a fort on the Allegheny River called the Cutanian, being about eighty miles above Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  In the year of 1777 he enlisted, and he obtained a discharge from Colonel John Gibson, but the discharge was destroyed by a child.   He made a schedule of his property and stated that he has a wife and seven children living.

Thomas Kelly of Jefferson County, Kentucky who was a private in the regiment commanded by Colonel J. Gibson of the Virginia Line for three years was inscribed on the Roll of the Kentucky Agency to commence on 15 Feb 1821.   Certificate of the pension was issued on 23 May 1822.
