Virginia S 13998 On October 3 of the year 1832 in Jefferson County in the state of Kentucky, the said pensioner at the age of 69 years appeared in open court and stated that he had enlisted in the year1779 to serve in the company under the command of Captain John Thayer to serve in his troops of horses in the Illinois Regiment of the Virginia state line. He also stated that he had served in the Illinois country and around the Falls of the Ohio River and was at Louisville and in the state of Kentucky until the year 1781 at which time he was honorably discharged. In all he served for a period of two years in the company under the command of Captain Thayer. The said pensioner himself, John Murphy, was on the Kentucky Roll of Pensions at the rate of $100.00 per annum and his certificate of pension for that amount was issued on May 6 of the year 1833 and it was then sent to Henry Northup at Louisville in the state of Kentucky. |
