On Aug 17, of the year 1830 in Gallatin County in the state of Kentucky, Mary Slaughter, being the widow and relic of the said pensioner and being at the age of 85 years, appeared in open court and stated and swore that her husband had been a Colonel in the Virginia State Line.  She also stated that they had been married in the month of February of the year 1771 and that her husband had died on June 17 of the year 1818 at Charlestown in Clarke County in the state of Indiana and she stated that they had been married in Culpepper County in the state of Virginia.

On September 3 of the year 1836 in Owenton in Owen County in the state of Kentucky, the affidavit of William Roberts was also given.  The said deponent stated and swore that at one time and in the said county and state he had been both well and favorably acquainted with the said pensioner and the deponent also stated that he had been called a Colonel and that he had died in the year 1818 and that Mary Slaughter still remained his widow and relic.

On August 30 of the year 1836 in Shelby County in the state of Kentucky, the affidavit of Captain Benjamin Roberts was also given.  The said deponent stated and swore that he himself had served as a Captain in the War of the Revolution and he stated that he was both well and favorably acquainted with the widow Mary Slaughter.  The said deponent also stated that the said pensioner, George Slaughter, had served as a Lieutenant Colonel and he stated that they had served together in the regiment under the command of Colonel Crockett and that they were at the Falls of the Ohio together in the year 1780.  This deponent also stated and swore that the said pensioner and his present widow had been married and he stated that he had been both well and favorably acquainted with them both in Culpepper county in the state of Virginia.

The said pensioner himself, George Slaughter, was on the Kentucky Roll of Pensions at the rate of $600.00 per annum and his certificate of pension for that amount was issued on October 28 of the year 1836 and it was then sent to Samuel Todd, Esquire at Frankfort in Kentucky.
