Section 147

On May 1 of the year 1818 in  Jefferson County in the State of Kentucky, the said pensioner appeared in open court and stated that he had first entered the service in the Spring of the year 1776 to serve in the capacity of a First Lieutenant in the company under the command of Captain Francis Taylor in the Second Virginia Regiment under the command of Colonel William Woodford.  He also stated that in the Spring of the year 1780 he was then appointed to serve in the capacity of a Major and he then joined the Ninth Virginia Regiment at Pittsburg in the regiment under the command of Colonel John Gibson.  He also stated that he was honorably discharged then in the Spring of the year 1781.

The affidavit of Major John Harrison was also given at the same time and in the same place as the foregoing.  The said deponent stated and swore that the said pensioner, William Taylor, had really served during the War of the Revolution on the side of the United States of America in the capacity of an officer.

On September 12 of the year 1820 in Jefferson County in the State of Kentucky, the said pensioner at the age of 67 years appeared in open court and stated he was by trade a tavern keeper and he swore that he had first entered the service by volunteering in the year 1775.

Section 148

He stated that he had served at the Battle of Long Bridge in the State of Virginia and he stated that he had been commissioned a First Lieutenant and then had been promoted to a Captain and then to a Major in the regiment under the command of Colonel John Gibson.  The said pensioner, William Taylor, also stated and swore that he had the following children still living with him at that time:

Robert H. C. Taylor, aged eighteen years

Eleanor M. Taylor, aged fourteen years
Caroline I. Taylor, aged twelve years
Louisa W. Taylor, aged nine years
Eliza O. Taylor, aged four years
Richard W. F. Taylor, aged four weeks

He also stated and swore that his wife was at that time at the age of 46 years.

On November 15 of the year 1824 in Oldham County in the State of Kentucky, the affidavit of James S. Crutchfield was also given.  The said deponent, being the Sheriff of the said Oldham County, stated and swore that he had sold a large piece of the property and also some slaves of the said pensioner at a public auction because of some debts which the said pensioner had been unable to pay.

On April 4 of the year 1859 in Jefferson County in the State of Kentucky, the affidavit of Curran Pope was also given.  The said deponent, being the Clerk of the Jefferson County Court, produced the following record:  "1796, July 16, William Taylor and Eliza Courts, were married on July 25 of the year 1796 by Henry Pottorf."

Section 149

On August 5 of the year 1851 in Henry County in the State of Missouri, the affidavit of Richard F. Taylor was also given.  The said deponent stated and swore that he was a son of the aforesaid William Taylor.  This deponent also swore that his said father had received a pension and that he had died in Oldham County in the State of Kentucky on March 29 of the year 1830 and that he left Elizabeth Taylor his relic and widow.  This deponent also stated and swore that the said widow of the said pensioner also then died on March 29 of the year 1849 and she at that time left as her heir the following children:  Richard F. Taylor, this deponent, Eleanor M. Berry, and Elizabeth O Horning.

The said deponent, Richard F. Taylor, also stated and swore that he also always heard it stated that his parents had been properly married and he swore that after the death of his father, the said pensioner, his mother had remained as his widow and relic until the time of her own death.

Section 150

The affidavit of Fitzhugh Thornton was also given at the same time and in the same place as the foregoing.  The said deponent stated and swore that at one time and in the said county and state he had been both well and favorably acquainted with the said pensioner, William Taylor, and this deponent also stated and swore that in the neighborhood in which the said pensioner resided he was reputed to have served in the War of the Revolution on the side of the United States of America and in the capacity of an officer.

Elizabeth Taylor, the widow of the pensioner, was on the Roll of Pensions at the rate of $600.00 per annum and her certificate of pension for that amount was issued on September 2 of the year 1851 and it was then sent to H. G. Tant, pension agent.

The said pensioner himself, William Taylor, was on the Kentucky Roll of Pensions at the rate of $20.00 per month to commence on May 1 of the year 1818 and his certificate of pension for that amount was issued on November 6 of the year 1819 and it was then sent to Stephen Ormsby, Esquire at Louisville in the state of Kentucky.
