On February 17 of the year 1834 in Jefferson County in the state of Kentucky, the said pensioner at the age of 82 years appeared in open court and stated that he had entered the service in Loudon County in the state of Virginia and that he had been drafted in the month of September of the year 1777 to serve for a tour of six months duration and he stated that they had rendezvoused at Leesburg in Loudon County in the state of Virginia and that at that time he came into the command of Captain Simeon Hancock, and Major George West.  He stated that they then marched across Nolan's Ferry on the Potomac River and to Fredericktown and the Sweed's Ford on the Schuylkill River.  They then marched to three or four miles from Philadelphia and there he was stationed until he was verbally and honorably discharged by the said captain Simeon Hancock in the month of March of the year 1778.

The said pensioner also stated and swore that he was drafted in the month of July of the year 1781 to serve for a tour of three months duration and he stated that on that tour he was appointed Press master to procure Reeves for the consumption of the army.  He stated that he had been born in Frederick County in the state of Virginia in the year 1752 and that he then resided in Jefferson County in the state of Kentucky.  He stated that he was verbally and honorably discharged by Captain Cannon.

Section 141

The affidavit of John Grove and Stanfield Jones was also given at the same time and in the same place as the foregoing.  The said deponents stated and swore that at one time and in the said county and state hey had been both well and favorably acquainted with the said pensioner and these documents also stated and swore that in the neighborhood in which the said pensioner resided he was reputed to have served in the War of the Revolution on the side of the United States of America.

The said pensioner himself, James Urton was on the Kentucky Roll of Pensions at the rate of $20.00 per annum and his certificate of pension for that amount was issued on April 17 of the year 1834 and it was then sent to the Honorable P. H. Pope, H. R.
