Elisha Yeager, the above named soldier applied for a pension on August 23, 1832 in the county of Jefferson in the state of Kentucky and stated that he was then 71 years of age, that he was born on November 30, 1780 (must be typo: 1760?) in Culpepper County, Virginia where he resided until he entered service of the United States as a Militia Man in the Revolutionary War in 1777 and served in the company commanded by Colonel Francis Taylor, that he marched with his company to Albermarle Barracks in Virginia and was there 60 days assisting in guarding the prisoners who were taken at the surrender of General Burgoyne. 

Section 98

After his discharge he enlisted again in Culpepper County, Virginia under the command of Reuben Beall in the Fall of 1778 or 1779 and was marched with a detachment sent to guard the Rappahannock and Appomattox River from the British fleet and served for the term of sixty days and was discharged at the end of his term of service in Spotsylvania County, Virginia.  He again entered service in Louisa County, Virginia under the command of Captain Elijah Hartley in the regiment commanded by Colonel Jack Willis in the Division or Brigade commanded by General Muhlenberg, afterward by General Willis in the service for some time under Colonel Wallis.  He was detached with his company and acted as a rifleman and was in the engagement at Hot Water Creek in the county of New Hunt?, Virginia and in the latter part of 1781 from which place the British marched to Jamestown and from there to Norfolk and that the detachment to which he belonged was in pursuit of the British when they entered Jamestown which the British burned.  The whole time he was in the service from the time he entered till he quit the service was for six months.

Benjamin Allen, Clergyman, resident of the county and state aforesaid, and George W. Griffy, resident in the same county made certification of being well acquainted with the applicant, Elisha Yeager, and to their belief in his statements.  these affidavits were made before John Williams, Justice of the Peace.

Section 99

In Oldham County, Kentucky on December 10, 1832, Samuel Yeager appeared and made declaration of being of relation to Elisha Yeager and that he knew him in Virginia, that said Elisha was on three tours of Militia duty of sixty days each tour, that he served with him on one of the tours under the command of Captain Elisha Kirtley in the Brigade or Division commanded by General Muhlenberg.

Elisha Yeager of Jefferson County, Kentucky who was a private in the company commanded by Captain Kirtley in the Virginia Militia for 6 months from 1777 was inscribed on the Roll of the Kentucky Agency to commence on March 4, 1831.  Certificate of the pension was issued on February 2, 1833 and sent to Honorable C. A. Wickliffe, House of Representatives.
