Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., 1887, Boone Co. LEWIS H. DILLS was born near Cynthiana, Harrison Co., Ky., November 5, 1824, the third son of Samuel and Susan (Veach) Dills, natives, respectively, of Pennsylvania and Harrison County, Ky. Thomas Veach, the maternal grandfather of L. H. Dills, was of English descent, and was a soldier in the war of 1812. Lewis H. Dills was reared on the farm in Harrison County, and received his education at a private school taught by B. N. Carter. At the age of twenty-three he moved to Boone County, where he owns a fine farm of 200 acres, near Bullittsville. In 1874 he was elected county clerk, served eight years, and in 1882 was elected county judge and filled out one term. He is now director of the Farmers' and Traders' Bank of Covington, is a Freemason, and in politics a Democrat. He was married in 1847 to Miss Lizzie M. Green, a native of Boone County, and a daughter of Nathaniel Green, a soldier of the war of 1812, who married Miss Delaney of Virginia. To Mr. and Mrs. Dills has been born one child, Eunice, who is married to Thomas Willis, of Boone County.
