JONES was born near Walton, Boone Co., Ky., July 9, 1855, and is the fourth of a family of eight children born to William P. and Rachel (Clark) Jones. William P. Jones was born in Canada, September 16, 1825, and died June 12, 1863. Mrs. Jones was also a native of Canada, and was born September 13, 1827. A. N. Jones was reared on a farm, and received a common-school education, and from 1863 until 1868 taught a common school. He then began the study of medicine under Dr. J. M. Chambers, and attended two courses of lectures at the Ohio Medical College, where he graduated in the spring of 1881. He settled at Mount Zion, where he remained until July, 1885, then moved to Verona, where he now enjoys a large practice. September 5, 1878, he married Miss Addie Poor, a daughter of James H. and Mary W. (Herndon) Poor, of Kentucky. One child has blessed the union--Mary Vernon. Mrs. Jones died March 18, 1885. Dr. Jones is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church; politically he is a Democrat. June 22, 1887, the Doctor married Alice D. Whitson, only daughter of J. T. and Sophia Whitson.
