RICHARD McKENNEY FISHER was born July 16, 1848, three miles east of Danville, Boyle County; in 1849 was taken by his parents to Danville, where he grew to manhood, and in 1879 located two miles west of that city, where he has since resided. His father, Issachar P. Fisher, was born near Danville, September 5, 1806, was a farmer and stock breeder, a magistrate and member of the court of claims of Boyle County, a Presbyterian, lost forty slaves by the late war, and died September 21, 1878. He was the son of Stephen Fisher, who, in turn, was the son of Stephen Fisher, a native of Culpeper County, Va., an early settler in Kentucky, a farmer and slave owner; the younger Stephen married a Miss Bryant; their offspirng were Franklin, Albert, Richard, William, Issachar P., Susan (McKinney), Maria (Pope), Mrs. Harlan and Mrs. Barbee. Issachar P.'s first wife was Miss Ann E. Shanks, and their daughter Sarah married Dr. F. T. Taylor, a native of Boyle County, but now a resident of Bastrop, La. His second wife was Virginia A., daughter of James McKenney of Lexington, Ky. (died August 26, 1877, at the age of sixty-one years), and from their union sprang Anna (Read), Virginia (deceased), Caroline (deceased), and the subject of this sketch. On October 13, 1874, Richard McKenney Fisher was married to Miss Bettie, daughter of Jacob K. and Mary J. (Garnett) Bishop of Boyle County, and to them have been born Virginia M., Mary G., Anna R. and Garnett P. Mr. Fisher is a farmer and stock breeder, owns 200 acres of productive land, well improved, and has now on hand of pure blood recorded stock, fifty head of shorthorn cattle, and seventy head of Southdown sheep. His grandfather exhibited fine imported cattle at Lexington as early as 1827, and Issachar P. imported shorthorns to Kentucky as early as 1839. Mr. Fisher is a Knight Templar, and a Democrat. Mrs. Fisher is a member of the Presbyterian Church.
