   MRS. MARGARET SMART, one of the oldest women in Marion, was born in
Crittenden county August 6, 1843.  She is the daughter of the late Ira
N. and Jane Thompson.
   On Sept. 24, 1867 she was married to John J. Smart, a veteran of the
Civil War.
   Mrs. Smart has six children.  They are Mrs. Mattie Hoover, of Tolu;
Mrs. Luther Minner, of Sheridan; Edward Smart, of Evansville; Marion
Smart, of Marion; Misses Cordilia and Daisy Smart, of Marion.  She also
has eighteen grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren.
