GEORGE HENRY COX:  This brother was born in Hawesville, Kentucky, on 
April 16, 1853.  At the age of fifteen he came to Owensboro and 
entered the office of the Monitor and learned the printer's art.  His 
parents were Robert H. and Harriet Cox.  He married Miss Mollie 
Brannon, a daughter of John H. and Elizabeth Walden Brannon, in 
November, 1876.  They had one son, Ellis Pettit, born January 26, 
1882.
	Brother Cox was converted in the great revival of 1878 and was 
baptized into the fellowship of the Walnut Street Church by Elder J. 
M. Peay.  He was elected Clerk of the Church in 1879 and served 
through the year 1883.  He became Superintendent of the Sunday School 
in 1880 and served through the year 1883.  He also served as the 
assistant clerk of the Association from 1886 through 1891; and as 
clerk of the District Mission Board from 1883 through 1891.  He seems 
to have moved away for a few years after this latter date only to 
return and place his membership with the First Church in 1894.  He 
served as Corresponding Secretary of the Baptist Ministers' Aid 
Society from 1899 to 1903 and again served on the District Mission 
Board from 1905 to 1907.  After this date we find him on no 
accessible record and presume that he moved away again.  For a number 
of years he served as the foreman of the Messenger and Examiner 
printing office here in Owensboro.
