JONES was born in Spencer County, Ky., Sept. 30, 1818. His father, Richardson Jones, was born near Richmond, Va., in 1792. He was married in Virginia to Nancy Shepherd, also a native of Virginia. They had three children born in Virginia, and in 1832 came to Daviess County and settled on the same farm where their son Reuben S. now lives. They had five children born here. The father died in June, 1874, and the mother died in February, 1874. They were both members of the Baptist church at Bethabara. Reuben S. Jones was but fourteen when he came with his parents to Daviess County. He married Ethelinda Martin, Nov. 17, 1843. She was born in Shelby County, Ky., April 8, 1827, and was a daughter of Mansfield and Susan (Cox) Martin, natives of Virginia and members of the Baptist church. After Mr. and Mrs. Reuben S. Jones were married he settled on the old homestead farm where he has since resided. Mr. and Mrs. Jones are members of the Baptist church. They have had a family of eight daughters and four sons, six living--Lucinda F., born April 11, 1845, is the wife of James H. Bozarth, of Owensboro; Sallie, born March 9, 1847, is the wife of Ben O. Hite; Thomas J., born Aug. 23, 1848, married Fannie Sublette; Susan, born June 1, 1852, is the wife of G. A. R. Wilhite; John R., born Feb. 26, 1854, is unmarried; Bettie A., born June 15, 1860; Louisa, born Oct. 20, 1862; Reuben H., born March 8, 1865; Catherine, born Feb. 4, 1867; Estella, born April 4, 1870. Mr. Jones owns a fine farm of 114 acres, seventy-nine under cultivation. In politics he is a Democrat.
