Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 3rd ed., 1885, Edmonson County. REUBEN MORRIS, son of Hiram and Millian Morris, was born May 8, 1837, in Edmonson County, Ky. His parents were natives, respectively, of North Carolina and Kentucky, and had a family of eight boys and five girls, of which number Reuben is the eighth child. Hiram Morris was a son of Reuben and Lucy Morris; was reared on a farm; came to Kentucky with his parents about 1818, and followed farming in Edmonson County. He was a member of the Masonic fraternity, and with his wife of the Baptist Church. Reuben Morris was born and reared on a farm. He made his home with his parents until about the age of twenty-three, when, December 23, 1860, he married Nancy Conway, a daughter of Thomas, and Polly A. Conway, natives of Kentucky. To Mr. and Mrs. Morris nine children were born: William F. (deceased), Mary J. (deceased), Rosana R., Sarah A., Effie R., Virgil W., Millian, Macy L., and Myrtie (deceased). Mrs. Morris is a member of the Baptist Church. Mr. Morris has a farm of 300 acres of land, seventy-five of which are under cultivation. He enlisted in the Federal Army in 1861; served as a sergeant; participated in the battles of Stone River and Bean Station, and was mustered out in December, 1864.
