John Provine came to Kentucky in the year 1790 and settled in Garrard County in the neighborhood of the paint Lick Church. Am told his grave is still found marked there. Tradition says it was the first grave made there. Was killed by a kick from his horse. One son, Alexander, died in East Tennessee; William settled in Illinois; one, Rev. John Provine settled in Wilson County, Tenn., and of the daughters, two married gentlemen by the name of McClintock and moved to Indiana; Ann married John Henderson who now lives at Point Leavell, Garrard County, Ky.
