Souvenir Edition, The Williamstown Courier, Williamstown, Ky, May 30, 1901, reprinted September 19, 1981 by the Grant County KY Historical Society. A. C. FRANKS was born near Stewartsville, some thirty odd years ago, and is the son of J. C. Franks, one of the oldest and best known citizens in that part of the county. He is a farmer by birth, and a trader by occupation. Ace grew up on his father's farm, working in summer and going to school in winter, until he was near grown, when he took a course at Lebanon, Ohio. He returned home and commenced working at his old occupation. At an early age he began to dicker in cattle and other live stock, and soon had made considerable money trafficking in that business. He would go the Kentucky mountains, buy a lot of scrub mountain cattle at a low price and sell them at home, after feeding a few months, for a good price. At the present time he is probably the wealthiest self-made young man in Grant County. His father's family was a rather large one, consisting of nine children, five girls and four boys, of which he was the second boy. He has lived in the neighborhood of Stewartsville nearly all his life. He is a member of the Improved Order of Red Men, Dry Ridge, the only order to which he belongs. In politics he is a Democrat, and is a worker in the ranks, always doing what he can for the party of his choice. Standing on a high hill, overlooking Clark's Creek, and a quarter of a mile east of Stewartsville is his beautiful residence, erected last year. The building is built after the Gothic pattern, and is the most imposing structure in the western part of Grant County. Several thousand dollars were spent in its construction. The rooms are elegantly furnished, and the interior is just as handsome as the exterior, which is saying quite a good deal. The only pity is that Ace is a bachelor, having as yet chosen no bird for the lovely nest he has fitted and built. Around his palatial home lies his farm, consisting of more than six hundred acres of the fine land which abounds in that section of the country. His place might justly be called Bachelor's Rest. His brother, Newt, lives with him and keeps house for him. Franks = OH http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kybiog/grant/franks.ac.txt
