Souvenir Edition, The Williamstown Courier, Williamstown, Ky, May 30, 1901, reprinted September 19, 1981 by the Grant County KY Historical Society. BARNEY GROSS. There is no better illustration of what plunck and industry will do than a brief sketch of the life of B. Gross. Born of Hebrew parents, in Russia, he came to this country, like so many others of his countrymen, to seek his fortune, in the early part of the eighties. Fifteen years ago he invested a small sum, the fruits of his industry and rigid economy, in a small merchandise business at Dry Ridge. While the sum was small, to him it must have been large, for it was about all he had. He remained in business there for about a year, when he removed his effects to Morgan, in Pendleton County, and entered business at that place. He remained at Morgan about a year, then sold out and removed to Corinth. His stock of goods was at first small, but his trade increased at such a rapid rate that he was soon forced to seek more commodious quarters. He has been recognized as a leading merchant of Corinth for more than twelve years. His stock of goods consists of an up-to-date line of general merchandise, and his trade extends from east to west over the entire south end of the county, reaching out into Harrison, Scott and Owen. Two more large stores are owned and operated by Mr. Gross, one at Berry and one at Falmouth, and he spends a considerable part of his time looking after his business interests in each of those places. He is thirty-nine years of age, married and the father of three children. Gross = Pendleton-KY Harrison-KY Scott-KY Owen-KY Russia http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kybiog/grant/gross.b.txt
