Every commercial traveler who has visited this section of the state within the past fifteen years knew "Bob" Lancaster, the former landlord of the Lancaster Hotel at Corinth, and every one of them had a good word to say for him. His acquaintance, however, did not stop here, for his friends throughout the county were legion--and he was loyal to each of them. He was born in Scott county and was one of a family of eight children. His father was James Lancaster, who came to this state from Virginia at the beginning of the nineteenth century and located in Scott county. His genial disposition won for him many friends, and at all times he was ready and willing to accommodate them. The icy hand of death smote him at his home in January last. He contracted pneumonia and died in a few days after the disease fastened itself upon him. In politics the subject of this sketch was a Democrat and a leader in local politics.
